I haven't done a Top 10 lists for some time now but they are a great way to see what games are worth a look in the lead-up to Christmas. Christmas 2003 promises to be one of the best yet with many, many great titles coming out.

Just a reminder that there will be plenty of other Top titles this Christmas, many just missing this list. This list isn't necessarily the only good games, and hell, some of them may turn out to be pretty average, but these are the games which we here at Future Gamez are dying to get our hands on.

10. AFL Live 2004 (Acclaim, IR Gurus)
If AFL Live 2003 was the appetizer then this game is the full banquet. Acclaim and IR Gurus have not just added some new rosters but completely overhauled the gameplay and options. The game includes new animations as well as all the medals (such as Coleman, Norm Smith and Brownlow) and should rectify some of the gameplay faults of the previous title. Expect a release in time for the finals series.
Release Date:28/8/2003

9. Beyond Good & Evil (UbiSoft, UbiSoft France)
Developed by Michel Ancel, the creative genius behind the Rayman series, Beyond Good & Evil promises to blend rich graphics with a wonderful storyline and terrific gameplay. The game has been in development for several years now and word of mouth is very positive. The only question remains can this title compete for shelf space with Jak II and Ratchet and Clank 2 which are also due this Christmas.
Release Date:13/11/2003

8. Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon (THQ, Revolution Software)
The original Broken Sword games were classic point and click adventures. Unfortunately these old 2D styled games no longer sell well enough to warrant another game - in that style. Revolution Software have updated the game to a proper 3D adventure title and after well over two years in development it looks impressive. Adventure gamers (and fans of the originals) will certainly want check out this game.
Release Date:3/10/2003

7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm (UbiSoft, UbiSoft)
Only just announced in time for this list this game has made it not on seen footage, or large numbers of screenshots, but rather on promises. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm promises all the action and accuracy of the PC titles in the series but also online gameplay. This game is shaping up as a potential SOCOM beater and if that doesn't push online gaming then nothing will. Expect more on this massive title soon.
Release Date:27/11/2003

6. Freedom Fighters (EA Games, IO Interactive)
Freedom Fighters has made the list for a couple of reasons. The first is the developer. IO Interactive, the team behind the very nice Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. The second reason is the lack of hype this game is getting compared to the promises. Finally this game is at No. 6 due to the original ideas and gameplay mechanics which are shaping up very well. C'mon EA - promote the shit out of this title - it deserves it.
Release Date:12/9/2003

5. Need For Speed Underground (EA Games, Black Box Games)
Does this game have the best texturing ever seen on the Playstation 2 - I certainly think so. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit bought the series back to former glory in the gameplay department and this game looks like making the series stunning to look at as well. Development is progressing so well that the release date has been brough forward from 2004 to late this year.
Release Date:December 2003

4. Soul Calibur II (EA Games, Namco)
Soul Calibur in the arcades and on the Dreamcast is generally regarded as the best fighting titles of all time. This updated game has improved graphics, more characters and exclusive features to the PAL game. Think this game is going to be big? This will be massive.
Release Date:19/9/2003

3. Jak II (Sony, Naughty Dog)
The sequel to the hit Jak & Daxter is about to be unleashed and is looking even better then the awesome original. The game has a darker look and feel with more weapons for Jak to use during his quest. Naughty Dog have never had a poor, or even average title, and this game may yet become the best platformer ever.
Release Date:December 2003

2. SSX3 (EA Sports BIG, EA Canada)
The first game helped launch the Playstation 2 remaining in the charts for the majority of the first year. The second game refined the concept to become one of the best (and still my favorite) extreme sports titles of all time. This third game, which has been in development for two years now, looks set to break new grounds. The game is one entire mountain, takes 20 minutes to descend and looks like bringing many new ideas to the genre. Oh yar, no loading or breaks during that 20 minute ride either.
Release Date:20/10/2003

1. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (UbiSoft, UbiSoft)
With Metal Gear Solid 3, Gran Turismo 4 and Splinter Cell 2 not appearing until 2004 the doors have opened for UbiSoft's title to become the must have game of 2003. The original Prince of Persia titles are among the best platformers ever released and this game looks no different. Many people put this among the best games at E3 and there's little to dispute that statement. This game will almost certainly be hot - especially as a PS2 console exclusive for 2003.
