Following a narrow path.
E3 2006 was a fantastic one for Sega. Their method of announcing a new game every day in the leadup kept them in the headlines, but they also unveiled some hugely anticipated titles. One such title was Sonic Rivals a PSP exclusive title which promises to bring back the glory days. With over 44 million sales around the world the announcement of this game is one guaranteed to be eagerly anticipated by fans the world over.

While we've heard promises of a return to the glory days before, from what we have seen of the game it seems like they may succeed. Interestingly this game isn't being developed by Sonic Team, or Sega, but rather Vancouver based Backbone Entertainment. Sonic Rivals is essentially a racing game - a head-to-head competition between Sonic and his top rivals, where the gloves are off and winner takes all!

Heading skyward...
What starts as a friendly competition between Sonic and Knuckles quickly intensifies as Shadow and other rivals jump into the action. Sonic Rivals allows gamers to utilize boost moves and power-ups to trip, shove, and vault over each other while hurtling towards the finish line at breakneck speeds. Players will negotiate wildly twisting 3D tracks while avoiding the insidious Dr. Eggman and his myriad of hazardous traps and contraptions.

Plenty of platforming action.
Knuckles the Echidna
Having lived his whole life on Angel Island, Knuckles' existence is spent guarding the Master Emerald. He’s a wild, tough, and all-around stubborn kind of guy and one may say, a rival to Sonic, perhaps due to Knuckles' longing to have a life of freedom like the hedgehog's. This renowned treasure hunter skilled in martial arts must now race to find the Master Emerald that has mysteriously been turned into a card by Dr. Eggman!
