He's not going to be in a sequel!
There were rumours for a long time, some retailers even had it listed months ago in America but it has taken until now for Ubisoft to confirm that name of their Prince of Persia title on Playstation Portable. It's not Prince of Persia: Warrior Within which is the name of the second game on larger consoles. Indeed, despite this game having some basis with that title this game offers much more and will be called Prince of Persia: Revelations. If your a PSP owner then this is one title that should almost certianly make it onto your 2005 Christmas list.

Sliding down the curtain.
The Old Man said to the Prince, “Your fate has been written. You will die.” Hunted by the Dahaka, an immortal incarnation of Fate seeking divine retribution, the Prince embarks upon a path of carnage and mystery to defy his preordained death. His journey leads to the infernal core of a cursed island stronghold harboring mankind’s greatest fears. Only through grim resolve, bitter defiance and the mastery of deadly new combat arts can the Prince rise to a new level of warriorship – and emerge from this trial with his life.

Three on one, I like those odds!
For those unaware the Prince of Persia titles are essentially third person action titles. With a wide range of combat moves the games also include a farily wide range of puzzle solving elements. One very neat tool is the ability to rewind time by a few seconds. If you make a mistake, or miss that critical hit on an enemy you can now rewind time for a few moments to right your wrongs. It's a great little innovation that works extremely well and makes the series somewhat unique (although other games are now copying this feature more and more).

The graphics are quite gorgeous.
Developed by Pipeworks Prince of Persia: Revelations the game builds on last year’s console success, Prince of Persia Warrior Within, and features original content such as additional puzzles, new maps and redesigned levels. The game takes combat to a higher level with new combos using melee weapons, projectiles, walls and more with the Free-Form Fighting system. The Free-Form fighting system makes its way to the PSP and allows gamers to wage battles in boundless ways. Manipulate the environment and the enemies themselves to develop your own unique fighting style.

Kill him!
So everything looks like it's in the right place for this game. The graphics are gorgeous, gameplay is (as we know from the PS2 versions) very solid and with new content for the PSP game there should be tonnes to do here. It remains to be seen however just how much additional content has been added and if its worth owners of the larger console versions to also purchase to this game. If you never purchased Prince of Persia Warrior Within however this looks like being an essential purchase. Expect a December release.
