When it comes to beat 'em ups there are a couple of series' which always sell by the truckload. Sega has Virtua Fighter while Namco has Tekken and Soul Calibur. Each has it's own fanbase, and Midway's series is no different with recent games shifting millions of copies the world over. Now the series is heading to the PSP.
Midway haven't revealed much about the game as yet, however we expect it to include most, if not all, the options in the PS2 titles. We can see from the screens that it is possible to change fighting styles and to weapons yet again.
Fans of the series will be pleased to hear that this PSP version does come with the Konquest mode, the single player quest styled game. Also included are the two mini-games, Puzzle Kombat and Chess. The developers have also confirmed that Mortal Kombat Unchained will include 2-player wireless Ad-Hoc battles and while other game modes may be possible nothing has been confirmed.

Although the graphics look a little block in places in the surrounding images the game actually looks quite wonderful in motion. Animaion is fluid and each of the characters has the same range of moves as in the PS2 titles, and also includes multiple fatalities for each character.
Mortal Kombat Unchained is certain to make fans of the series very happy indeed. This looks to be filled to the brim with characters, unlockables and action. While Midway are still remaining quiet about the full features of the title it is currently set for a September release in America, and European and Australian gamers should also see a release before Christmas.
