Note the checkpoint ahead.
Most of you should have heard of Rockstar. If not, I'm sure you'll know their games. They are the developers of a little game series known as Grand Theft Auto, with that series also heading to PSP in the form of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. A couple of months ago the company released Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition on PS2 - a super slick racing game that is now making its way to the PSP. Will it be as much fun? It certainly looks impressive.

Yes, there are bikes in the game.
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is an interesting prospect. For those of you that don't know DUB is a magazine dedicated to automotive lifestyle, and hotting up cars with all the latest gear. You know what I mean, these are the cars you see cruising by in every hip-hop/rap video on MTV. Dub's input to this game should ensure that it contains all the latest features you could ever want in the hottest car. Besides it also lends some credibilty to the title.

In terms of gameplay the series has always had an arcade slant, and this title is no exception. Set across the three cities of Atlanta, San Diego and Detroit Midnight Club 3 is focused on the biggest street racing cities in America. Rather then just using the scenery of those cities as the backdrops for some tracks this game allows you to drive around open cities, much like EA's Need For Speed Underground 2 which was released late last year. What really impresses is the sense of speed in this game as cars race around the cities - cities which, in the PSP version, look every bit as impressive as the larger console versions.

Yet more stunning graphics.
The list of cars in this game (which were selected by DUB magazine) is impressive with over 60 vehicles realistically re-created for this title. These include everything from the latest SUV's, to the fastest racing cars and even motorbikes. Modding the cars also plays a major role with the game including all the hottest body kits, brakes, chassis, computers, jet kits (for street bikes), intakes, headers, exhausts, nitrous, rims, super chargers, tires, transmissions, and turbos. I won't list all the manfacturers but needless to say many components include parts from almost a dozen different manufacturers. Perhaps most importantly for some gamers Rockstar Leeds (who are handling the PSP version) are including full damage for the cars!

In terms of game modes the bulk of your time will be spent in a career mode. Through this mode you unlock new cars, upgrades and tracks. But that's not all. To top it all off the developers are including 6-player Wi-Fi support on the PSP. Expect Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition to hit the streets on September 1st.
