Kao seems to have the right charm!
We all know that the Playstation Portable has had one of the strongest launch lineups of all time in Europe, but the good games aren't going to stop anytime soon. In fact, the PSP is guaranteed almost regular hits from the launch until Christmas. Kao Challengers is one such title and while it's aimed at the younger market it looks like tremendous fun. Perhaps more importantly for Sony's handheld it's an original title for the platform thanks to Atari and developers Tate Interactive, the same team behind Kao the Kangaroo 2 on Playstation 2.

OK it's electricity - not good!
Kao Challengers presents a rich and colourful gaming universe with 25 vividly rendered levels set across six diverse worlds ranging from Kao's natural habitat of Australia to the rather less sun-baked Arctic. Kao faces a succession of furious enemies on his journey to save the animal world from the clutches of the malevolent hunter Barnaba and his band of cruel henchmen, each with their own fiendish ways to hamper Kao's progress.

The graphics are nice and bold.
Luckily Kao doesn't face them alone. However, with the support of only a firefly and a parrot he'll need more than just a spring in his step to come out on top. Luckily Kao is equipped with seven different fighting techniques, from boomerang throwing to devastating tail attacks!During the game Kao can use a wide range of transport including a snowboard, a catapult, a pelican, a water barrel and a motorboat. At the very least there's plenty of variety there!

Snowboarding looks fun.
Of course as well as the single player story mode the developers are placing a heavy emphasis on the 4-player WiFi modes which promise to bring an entire new level to the game. Challenges include multiplayer racing modes and platform-death-match, undertaken with a blistering arsenal of 12 weapons such as bombs, fire flamer, magneto, missiles and more at players' fingertips.

Expect a release in Europe and Australia in mid-November with America still to be confirmed.
