Crash and Dr Neo Cortex.
Another year, another Crash Bandicoot game. After conquering the PSOne during its era, and still selling very well during the PS2's lifetime it is now the Playstation Portable's turn to see one of the most loved video game characters of all time. This isn't strictly a platform title, however, as the game has a strong racing focus, be it on vehicles or on foot. One of the most exciting things about Crash Tag Team Racing is that it is being developed at Radical Entertainment, the same studio that brought us the magnificent The Simpsons: Hit & Run game a couple of years ago.

Nice teeth Crash...
This newest addition to the best-selling video game franchise will give players a unique racing experience and allow them to continue the adventure on foot with out-of-car action. Unlike Naughty Dog's upcoming PS2 racer Jak X - which isn't coming to PS2 - in Crash Tag Team Racing will be possible to hop out of the car and continue racing on foot in Crash Tag Team Racing - an interesting, and potentially very fun move. As you run around on foot it will of course be possible to smash boxes and collect items.

One of the racing sections.
For the first time ever in a racing game, players will be able to fuse two cars together on the fly to form a super vehicle with the all-new 'clashing' technology. Combine your car with an opponent's mid-race to make a super-car equipped with a powerful 360° rotating turret gun. When clashed, either get behind the wheel and drive or fire your onboard weapon. Explore the entire world on foot, collect upgrades for your car and unlock bonus tracks.

More box breaking fun.
As with most PSP titles players will be able to play against one another through a wireless connection in Co-op Mode, where two players join and race together in a permanently clashed vehicle to race and combat other players, as well as Tournament Mode, where each player competes alone in a series of races to determine the ultimate winner.

It will be interesting to see how well Crash Tag Team Racing manages to combine vehicle racing with on-foot sections of game. Graphically the game looks as bold and colourful as previous games while the sound is, well, Crash Bandicoot through and through. One very postive aspect is that the game is being penned by writer Jordan Reicheck, best known for his work on Ren & Stimpy! Expect a release just in time for Christmas 2005.
