It certainly looks like Wolverine!
When it comes to big movies in 2009 there are quite a few lining up to hit box office gold. Star Trek, Fast and Furious, Terminator Salvation, Up, Transformers 2 and Ice Age 3 to name just a few. Another certain blockbuster is X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is, unsurprisingly, what this game is based upon. The game is currently in development at Raven Software who have recently worked on Quake 4 and X-Men Legends titles. For this reason we believe this has a hope of being a better then average video game.

The game includes plenty of fatalities.
The storyline in this game is loosely based on the upcoming movie. X-Men Origins: Wolverine sees you uncage Wolverine's tragic past and discover how the ultimate weapon was created. Unleash the razor sharp adamantium claws, feral instincts and mutant regeneration power of the world’s fiercest hero. Visceral combat. Pure rage. Epic battles. Take on the impossible in your hunt to uncover the secrets of Weapon X... then exact your revenge.

That's a pretty hefty attack.
As you have probably surmised already X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a third person action adventure game. Wolverine has three main combat moves - a light attack, a heavy attack and a grab move. The game includes plenty of blood and gore (the game has been rated MA15+ here in Australia - the highest possible rating) and even includes some forms of fatality styled moves which often end with dismemberment apparently.

Naturally it's the other characters from the X-Men universe you're probably keen to hear about, but at this stage Activision are keeping quite a bit under wraps. What we do know is that Sabretooth, Gambit, Agent Zero, Deadpool, Blob and Wendigo will appear in the game at some stage. There are bound to be more, but nothing has been announced yet.

Visually the game looks pretty good. Admittedly we haven't seen much of the game in action as yet, but the screen - as you can see - are impressive with Wolverine certainly taking on the Hugh Jackman appearance.

With a release expected to coincide with the movies theatrical release this April (or May if you live in America) there isn't too long until we will see if Hugh Jackman's latest movie is another hit. A spin-off movie is always a gamble, and the videogame tie-ins often questionable Still, if Activision can deliver us a game that is a bit more then just a quick cash in we could be in for something quite worthwhile. At this stage it looks good.
