Note: Playstation Move controllers are required for use with this game.
There is no doubt that the Playstation Move is a big risk for Sony. Major peripherals added to a console so late in its life cycle are always a risk - simply look at the Sega Megadrive 32X, or how about the XBox 360 HD-DVD drive, the Sega MegaCD? None were more then a novalty that had a shorter life span the Paris Hilton's singing career. But Playstation Move is a little different. It's a mass market controller that Sony is not forcing developers to use, but certainly encouraging them with an emphasis on hardcore games as much as the casual party ones.

| Yes, this game includes Gladiator combat too. |
So Sport Champions is a big title for Sony and the Playstation Move and gamers can expect this title to include six sports which will be fun for the entire family. These sports include Disc Golf, Gladiator Duel, Volleyball, Archery, Table Tennis and Bocce. Soooo how did the developers come up with those sports? Who the hell knows. Bocce? I mean how many of you even know what that is? What we can hope is that this collection of sports actually provides plenty of thrills and also a good technical showcase for the Playstation Move controller. Gamers will be able to choose from 10 athletes to represent themselves on-screen.
Sports Champions includes three gameplay modes including Free Play which allow you to just jump in and play a sport, Challenge Mode allows you to compete against high scores while the Champion Cup Mode sees you competing against 10 athletes to become the ultimate champion with this mode allowing up to four players to compete in multilpayer modes. Naturally the game will include detailed stats and online leader boards.

| Table Tennis should be quite fun. |
Sony will really be hoping that Sports Champions is the answer to the phenomenally successful Wii Sports, and while it technically should equal or even surpass Nintendo's title, we have to question the inclusion of some of the games in this package. Can Disc Golf and Bocce really compete with more "commercial" sports? We're not so sure, but we'll certainly let you know how this game turns out when it launches with the Playstation Move in mid-September, and for a lower retail price then other first party PS3 titles.
