The classic Bohemian Rhapsody.
After last years hugely successful SingStar Abba on both the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 it was clear that Sony would continue to pursue compilations based on some of the worlds most successful bands. For their second single band focused outing they have select the 300 million album selling band Queen for focus in SingStar Queen. Not only will the band feature in this game, but Sony have secured the rights to the bands songs for the entire year, meaning you won't be singing them in any other compilations on any other platforms this year.

Freddy Mercury died well before his time!
Queen really should need no introduction. With hit songs including Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want To Break Free, Killer Queen, Radio Ga Ga, and We Are The Champions among others there are certainly plenty of songs that should be familiar to many people. The Playstation 3 version of SingStar Queen includes 25 tracks in total (as opposed to 20 tracks on the PS2 release). It seems Sony want people to gravitate towards the "better" track listing which is, of course, on their newer system.

SingStar Queen uses the original video clips.
In the slim chance that you are unaware what SingStar is, the game is essentially Sony Europe's karaoke game. Using original songs (not dodgy remakes), and original video clips where available, the game scores you according to the pitch of your voice. Each disc comes with 30 songs to test your vocal chords, but given the advent of online connectivity the Playstation 3 version allows you to download hundreds of other songs for a measly $2.45 each! While great as a single-player experience it's when you get a second person that the game comes alive with various duets and battles available.

Again any SingStar release is only as good as the track listing and as this game is based on the band Queen, all the tracks are from the super group. Pretty much all their hits are covered here. Here's a look at the full track listing...

Hitting the right notes in SingStar Queen.
As with SingStar Vol. 2 we expect SingStar Queen to include the Remote Play functionalities with PSP. Using a PSP and wireless Internet connection, players will be able to access various areas of the game such as the SingStore and My SingStar Online. The good news is that any songs you have purchased for use with previous PS3 SingStar titles will be seamlessly integrated into this discs playlists. Sadly, it still won't be possible to copy songs from the discs onto the hard drive, but you can swap discs over.

SingStar Queen will retain the features and functionality of My SingStar Online - the online community where you can record yourself, either via video or audio, then have segments of those performances uploaded to be rated by other SingStar gamers.

SingStar Queen looks like the previous games.
At this stage it appears that SingStar Queen will only be sold as the game, and not as a bundle with the two microphones as has been the case with previous releases. Don't despair though as there's a good reason for this. In April - only a few weeks after this game hits shelves - Sony will be releasing the Wireless microphones which, we assume, will be backwards compatible. The wireless mics will sell here for $AU79.95.

With a release only weeks away Sony are certain to have another hit on their hands with SingStar Queen. The only interesting thing though will be how well it sells. While Abba have a large female audience (which is a large part of the SingStar user base), Queen may be a more 'male' oriented band (if I can use those words!) Either way, this will be another great title.
