Injustice is being developed by the same team that develops the Mortal Kombat games!
Announced on May 31 2012 - just prior to the E3 Show - Injustice: Gods Among Us is an interesting, and rather exciting proposition. Take one of the best fighting game developers in the world (that being NetherRealm Studios who develop the much loved Mortal Kombat games) and one of the biggest comic companies in the world (that being DC Comics) and the end result is a fighting game with some of the most famous comic book characters in the world. It's not due out until next year but already this game looks impressive enough to turn heads.
While much of the storyline is under wraps the games press release does pose the question "What if our greatest heroes became our greatest threat?" Sounds ominous and with the story being written in collaboration between NetherRealm Studios, DC Entertainment, and writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti we expect this to be fairly entertaining with the game including many locations familiar to DC Comics fans
Hopefully the game is quite bloody.
So Injustice is, for all intents and purposes a fighting game which sees DC Comic characters battling it out. Fighters will be made up of two main groups - those that use gadgets, and those that use powers. Characters confirmed to date include Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Nightwing, Superman and Wonder Woman with many more still to be revealed. Levels themselves will also be interesting with multi-tiered (eg you can force fighters into new sections within the level by throwing them through walls or off cliffs etc) and destructible, or usable, environments. In the batcave for instance players will be able to fire rockets from the batmobile.
As yet nothing has been mentioned about multiplayer - 2-players battling it out on a single machine is a given, and we also expect online leaderboards and gameplay will be included however nothing has been confirmed as yet.

Visually this game is already shaping up fairly well with some detailed characters and effects during the battles while the backgrounds/levels could, and will, get a fair bit more done to them prior to release (we are talking about a game still 6 months from release). One thing I would love to see is a little more colour in the levels which appear a little too gray and drab.
We have to say that should almost any developer had worked on this title we would have been somewhat muted in our response - certainly until we got some hands on time. But with NetherRealm Studios working on Injustice: Gods Among Us we are quite hopeful that the Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe developer can deliver something worthy of the DC Comics license. We'll find out when this game hits the shelves on April 14 2013.
