Grounds are accurately modelled.
I was sitting back a couple of evenings ago wondering what to watch and remembered that as of 8.00pm Australian Eastern Standard Time one of the fiercest of sporting rivalries was about to play out through five, five-day Test Matches - it's Ashes time folks where England and Australia do battle for, well, the Ashes. Last night, as I finished off this preview England scraped a cheeky draw after a couple of delaying tactics were employed. As they say, it's just not cricket. But this is so get ready for Ashes Cricket 2009...

Ashes Cricket 2009 is fully licensed by Cricket Australia, the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club, the world's most famous cricket club and owner of the Ashes urn), providing the game with all the official players, kit, stadia – including Lords and The Brit Oval – and equipment from this year's Ashes Series.

The great news for gamers is that not only will this game include offline multi-player games, but also online gameplay so you can challenge a friend.

Ashes Cricket 2009 includes 18 realistically created stadiums from 12 cricketing nations will be featured, including The Oval, Edgbaston, Headingley, The MCG, The Gabba, The SCG as well as stadiums from India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Goes for the big pull shot!
Ashes stars of the past are also included in Ashes Cricket 2009 with Sir Ian Botham and Shane Warne taking on commentary duties and hosting the game’s comprehensive ‘Legends Mode’. Beefy and Warney will talk players through the basics of every aspect of the sport, progressing to more advanced techniques before setting player challenges based on classic moments from the history of cricket.

While this game is coming out towards the end of the Ashes series this will still be an essential purchase for cricket lovers. With more then just the two teams, and the longest form of the game present, this promises to be a wonderful, first, cricket game on the PS3 when it hits shelves in August.
