During the early battle between the Playstation and Saturn it looked as if Sega had the upper hand with their conversion of Virtua Fighter from the arcades. While the game wasn't arcade perfect, as Sega promised it would be, it was still an awesome fighting game. Namco had something better planned for the Playstation, Tekken. With equally impressive gameplay and superior graphics it helped thousands decide which 32 bit console to choose and the rest is history.
Over the years there has been 2 sequels to Tekken on the Playstation and it was only a matter of time before a new game was to hit the Playstation 2. Tekken Tag Tournament is that game and it has one major difference over previous version, the "tag" feature. This "tagging" allows you to swap selected fighters during a battle. If you are copping a pounding from one opponent, switch to your other fighter where you might stand a better chance. It's a shame that the PS2 only has 2 controller ports because this would have made an awesome 2 on 2 match.
As you can probably see from the above screen shots this game is hot. While some people have referred to the game as Tekken Jag Tournament there can be no denying that this is the best looking game in the series and is still a treat to look at. Recently Namco showed off some new images of the game using full screen anti-alising and the results are spectacular. All the previous rough edges are now gone.
Tekken Tag Tournament will no doubt be on top of a lot of Playstation 2 owners wish list. With enhanced gameplay and graphics over previous versions fans of the series will be in fighting heaven. You will be hard pressed to find a more impressive launch title on the Playstation 2.
