Click here to read an exclusive interview with Team 17 about Stunt GP and Worms World Party.
When people mention Team 17 a lot of people think of several classic games including Alien Breed and Body Blows from the Amiga days. In recent years the company has had tremendous success with it's Worms series of games including Worms Armageddon on the Dreamcast. However, their most exciting game by far is Stunt GP which has been in development at Team 17 for over 3 years now. Recently the company surprised everyone by announcing that the title would be released on both Dreamcast and Playstation 2 in late 2000.
As you can probably tell from the screenshots Stunt GP is a R/C styled racing game. These miniature cars allowed the developers to incorporate stunts and tricks into the game, which fortunately serve a purpose instead of just decoration. As well as earning cash by winning races players can earn money by the 'aeromile' rewards for doing daring stunts. The game includes and impressive 24 tracks in total to race on and have included a dynamic physics engine that calculates precisely the results of impacts, jumps and other obstacles on the cars. 16 different cars form four different racing classes have been included with each model handling the courses differently depending on the type of car being used.
Graphically. Team 17 seem to have done a wonderful job. The tracks are varied and extremely detailed. With the power of the Dreamcast and Playstation 2 behind them Team 17 have proven that they can create amazing visuals in a game. All the usual effects such as smoke, sparks and reflections are present and look wonderful. Team 17 have also included support for a 4 player split screen mode on the Dreamcast version which should provide plenty of thrills and spills for the whole family.
Stunt GP should be an amazing title when it is eventually released. The graphics are simply amazing and if the gameplay can match that offered in so many other Team 17 games then this is sure to be a winner. Keep a close eye on this title.
