Geonosis looks pretty special.
If you're a Star Wars fan, Playstation 2 owner and online gamer then there's little doubt that you would have, at the very least, played Star Wars: Battlefront. It was a fantastic title with great visuals (Endor really rocked we thought), superb sound and most importantly great gameplay. Sure, there were some AI issues and the single player missions were slightly lacking in quantity, but overall it was still tremendous fun. In November this year LucasArts and developers Pandemic Studios, who also developed the original title, unleash Star Wars: Battlefront II which promises more of, well, just about everything.

Yes, you can now take to the stars!
Having listened to the masses Pandemic Studios are spending considerble time on the single player game. The enemies, and friends, will have revamped AI to make them a little smarter and perhaps more importantly the game will have a greater emphasis on the storyline which will be told through the open-ended mission based objectives. During the game players will have the opportunity to wield a lightsaber and use their favorite Force powers as a Jedi.

The biggest addition to this title is the ability to fly. No, we're not talking about some hovercraft or speeder bikes but rather X-Wings, TIE fighters, Jedi starfighters and several other starcraft. Not only will you be able to fly around but you can even land on enemy capital ships and battle it out on foot.

Battle in the Clone Wars.
Star Wars: Battlefront II is set to include more than 16 new battlefronts on both land and in space. These locations include many from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith such as Utapau, Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. The classic trilogy isn't being forgotten with all new locations such as the Death Star interior, classic space battles and the fight aboard the Tantive IV, Princess Leia’s blockade runner seen at the beginning of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Each of the locations looks unique and very detailed with many features that will be familiar to fans of the movies.

Battle on Polis Massa.
Finally we make it to the multi-player. While the original title allowed up to 16 players on the Playstation 2 to battle online - as long as you found a dedicated server - Star Wars: Battlefront II allows up to 24 players to battle it out.

There is little doubt that this game will be pushing the PS2 to its limits. Not only are the graphics quite superb but also the number of players, either CPU or AI controlled, is impressive. Those of you with a PSP may like to know that this game is also coming out on the handheld and we expect Wi-Fi to be supported in a big way on that system. Expect a release in Europe and Australia in early November with Electronic Arts handling the Australian distribution.
