Tina Turner belts out another.
It's getting hard previewing Sony's SingStar titles. Not because each pack seems to be so similar, well that's part of the problem, or because often we aren't familiar with all the songs, which is also the case, but moreover because Sony release so many of them. SingStar Legends is the fourth pack to be released in the last 12 months with SingStar 80's, SingStar Rocks and SingStar Anthems all making an appearance since November 2005. Fortunately Sony have listened to the complaints from the previous game and bumped the tracklist back from twenty to thirty tracks.

The tracklist is, as always, one of the most important aspects of the package. Looking through this list we feel that SingStar Legends has the best track listing of all releases to date. Here's the full list on SingStar Legends:
Aretha Franklin - Respect
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
David Bowie - Life on Mars?
Dusty Springfield - Son Of A Preacher Man
Elton John - Rocket Man
Elvis Presley - Blue Suede Shoes
Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite (The Finest Girl You Ever Want To Meet)
John Lennon - Imagine
Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Madonna - Papa Don't Preach
Marvin Gaye - I Heard it Through the Grapevine
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind
Sam Cooke - Wonderful World
The Jackson 5 - I Want You Back
The Monkees - Daydream Believer
The Police - Roxanne
The Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
Tina Turner - What's Love Got To Do With It?
U2 - Vertigo
Whitney Houston - The Greatest Love Of All
Jimmy Barnes - No Second Prize
Jimmy Barnes - Working Class Man
John Farnham - You're The Voice
John Paul Young - Love Is In The Air
Midnight Oil - Beds Are Burning
Silverchair - Tomorrow
The Angels - No Secrets
The Easybeats - Friday On My Mind

In case you are unaware Sony's SingStar series is a karaoke title. The title can be bought with two microphones for $99.95 or, if you already have a previous version with the microphones then you can buy this disc by itself for $49.95. Unlike normal karaoke where you only get the lyrics on screen this game also shows you via bars on the screen what pitch you should be singing at, and with a small marker, what pitch you are currently singing at. It works remarkably well and at the end of your song you receive a score so there is no debate with your friends who is the best singer! It's also possible to set up battles between two players, or tournament styled events for up to 4 players at a time.

One of Farnham's best.
Looking at the tracklist in SingStar Legends it's clear that there are plenty of classics to belt out. Yet again the pack includes 20 international songs from artists such as Elton John, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Jackson 5, U2 and Nirvana as well as 10 Australian based songs - but rather then the junky pop and rock we hear these days we have classic tracks from legends such as Midnight Oil, Jimmy Barnes (who doubles up with two tracks), John Farnham and The Angels to name a few. As always each of the tracks includes the original video clip to back the vocal pitches. As for game modes you can expect the same as previous packages.

An oldie, but a goodie.
You donít have to perform solo Ė with team contests and head-to-head sing-offs, the competition to be number one is hotting up. Find out which of your friends could sell out stadiums and whose singing is best suited to the shower. With technology that recognises your pitch, tone and rhythm, SingStar scores you depending on how well you perform. The better you sing, the more points youíll be awarded.

It appears that Sony Europe has listened to the complaints from fans. We don't want 20 tracks per disc as was the case with SingStar Anthems - that hardly made the purchase worthwhile, but SingStar Legends not only has 30 tracks - but what appears to be the best in any of the compilations. Expect a release on November 2nd.
