Drago dodges a punch.
Who can forget boxers such as Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed or Ivan Drago. When Sylvester Stallone, a little known actor at the time, wrote and starred in Rocky in 1976 which won 3 Academy Awards, and was nominated for seven others. But this wasn't just a movie about boxing, it was a movie about hope, and rising from nothing to become a hero. Indeed four sequels were made, some better then others while a sixth movie is being discussed. With such a strong license it's not surprising to see why UbiSoft have snapped up the rights to make a game based on some of the most fictional boxers in history.

Nice background detail.
Rocky: Legends is the prequel to the smash-hit Rocky. Now for the first time, gamers can experience all of the action leading up to the amazing feats from the blockbuster films! Pummel your way through exclusive career modes featuring Rocky, Clubber, Apollo, and Drago. This is a boxing game, but offers so much more then action just in the ring.

Training hard.
Rocky: Legends includes an all-New Career Mode that allows you to follow your favorite character - Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, and Ivan Drago - from his raw beginnings right through his professional career. Eight authentic training games are available to the boxers; each boxer has five tailored training sessions to choose from in his career mode. Two-Player VS Training Modes allow the player to compete against a friend in a trial of strength and determination. In all the title offers 40 Opponents: 26 new boxers plus returning fighters from the first game bring the total to more than 40 opponents with extra, hidden, unlockable characters while 20 Venues including 13 brand-new venues will feature in the title, featuring more familiar locations from the films, such as the Philadelphia Art Museum, a Casino on the Vegas strip, the Docks in Philly, and the Russian training camp from Rocky IV.

Let the blood fly.
Sadly while the XBox game is confirmed to include online gameplay (in America at least) the Playstation 2 version still hasn't got online gameplay confirmed - and most likely won't be included.

Rocky: Legends is slated for release in October 2004, and if the game is as fun as the original then this will certainly be one to keep an eye on. The graphics look nice, the feature list impressive. The only disappointment is that at this stage Hulk Hogan, who starred in Rocky III, will not make an appearance in the game, obviously he has contracts with other game manufacturers.
