Expect plenty of close blasting action.
It's been a long time coming, but Run Like Hell is almost available. Announced at the E3 show way back in May 2000 the game has been hit by development delays and financial difficulties from publisher Interplay. This action/adventure/horror game is almost complete however, and it looks pretty exciting. As the official web site states "Run Like Hell puts you into the most suspenseful sci-fi adventure you can imagine. Try to stay alive and combat the danger that lurks around every dark corner. Some things are worse than death... ". It certainly sounds exciting and suspenseful if nothing else.

Yep, I'd be running too.
Run Like Hell is a 3rd person sci-fi adventure game, which blends the style of Resident Evil with the suspense and action of the Alien movies. The developers have promised an intense storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The game includes intelligent alien foes that learn from your actions to become even more dangerous as you progress through the 7 different chapters of the game.

While the graphics don't look to be one of the game strong points, they don't need to be. The game is played in the 3rd person perspective, much like most adventure games these days with each character being made up of 5,000 polygons and 20,000 polygon environments. While the graphics aren't overly detailed, if they have a steady enough frame rate they should be functional enough. The levels themselves certainly look rather sci-fi-ish which given the content of the game is a good thing.

Memories of Alien 3 on SNES.
One of the most crucial aspects of any horror based game is the atmospheric sound. Be it music, speech or sound effects this will most likely break this game. Time will tell what direction the developers take with this game. Personally I hope that the developers keep the music to a minimum so we can hear the cries and calls from the aliens. As for the voices, well there's no skimping on talent here with notable actors such as Lance Henriksen (Bishop from Aliens/Alien 3). Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway from Star Trek Voyager) and Clancy Brown (Kurgen from Highlander) providing the voices for the characters.

Expect some pretty twisted imagery.
Although it's taken a terribly long time to arrive thanks to Interplay's financial struggles, Run Like Hell looks like it will be worth the wait. With the game to be distributed in Australia by Vivendi-Universal it has the potential to be one of the scariest games since the original Resident Evil on PSOne. With plenty of inspiration and similarities to movies such as Aliens, there is plenty of atmospheric potential, and as the surrounding screenshots display, there are some pretty twisted images. Time will tell just how good the gameplay is, but my money is on a winner with Run Like Hell. Thanks to a recent deal the game will be distributed by Vivendi-Universal and is currently on target for a late June release.
