Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 - Preview
Release Date Publisher Developer Rating Players Price

If you were one of the thousands of people to pick up a Dreamcast on launch day you would have most certainly considered Ready 2 Rumble as one game to get. The original title is still one of the best titles on the Dreamcast and is one of the best 2 player games ever. The game had some magnificent gameplay as well as crisp graphics and a great sense of humour. Midway have fortunately decided that a sequel is warranted and it's heading back to the Dreamcast, as well as the Playstation 2.

Midway are including some major upgrades for this second game. The original title included 10 fighters however the sequel includes 23 boxers in total. As well as returning originals such as "Afro Thunder", "Big Willie Johnson", and "Butcher Brown" the developers have included celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Shaquille O'Neal among more serious fighters. As expected the game includes several modes such as training, multi-player and championship.

Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 includes a "RUMBLE" mode where you get a letter for each major hit you land on your opponent. When you spell out the whole word your fighter gets a major boost of strength and speed to help you finish off your opponent. This time the "RUMBLE" mode includes three different levels of power with the highest level enabling you to knock your opponent clear out of the ring. Of course the taunts return so you can have a bit of fun with your opponent if you are giving them a hard time.

Midway haven't done too much with the graphics in this game but thatís because the original was so good. The fighters have some more animations and the number of rings has been increased. The sound effects are also adequate for a boxing game with bone crunching noises as you land a punch on the opposition.

Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 is another great title this Christmas. If you liked the first game then you should have a look at this game. With more characters and more moves this game would be a worthy addition to any gamers collection. If you play games by yourself a lot you may want to have a look first as most of the enjoyment comes from the 2-player mode.
