Outrun 2006 looks pretty nice!
If you've been around the gaming scene for a few years then you'd almost certainly be familiar with Outrun. Perhaps it's the blindingly fast red Ferrari Testarossa you remember, or your blonde girlfriend by your side in the car, or perhaps it was Hiroshi Miyauchi's wonderful music with songs such as "Passing Breeze" and "Splash Wave" still remembered to this day. A little over a year ago Sega released a very updated new game on XBox (Outrun 2), but Sony owners were left out in the cold with no port available. Get ready to rejoyce as Sega's new game is not only coming to the PS2, but also the PSP.

Starting to slide out...
In Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast gamers will experience the best that the series has to offer with 30 stages including the original OutRun 2 and OutRun2 SP arcade stages - from the sun-drenched sands of Palm Beach to the charms of Cape Way and Ancient Ruins, through to the wonders of the Milky Way and heights of Skyscraper stages. Developers Sega know how important it is to bring this game to the PS2 intact and everything they are doing seems to be putting the game on the right track to success.

Outrun 2006 is fully licensed and approved by Ferrari with players able to choose from one of 12 different Ferrari models including the all-new F430 and Superamerica in standard, lightly and highly tuned forms. In terms of game modes one new addition to the game is the all-new license mode. Also included are platform specific missions to complete. We're not sure what this means as yet, but perhaps you will have to beat another car, or set a new record time.

While the PSP game includes Wi-Fi modes this PS2 game includes online gameplay for up to 6-players at a time.

Again, sideways!
With the game being available on PSP and PS2, and both being developed by Sumo Digital, the development team is keen to stress that items will be transferable between the two different games. It still remains a little undercover with the details, but the Outrun miles will be transferable which should unlock new content.

It doesn't really matter if you opt for the PSP or PS2 version of Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast (or the XBox I guess) but one thing is certain, this game looks kick-ass and certainly set to bring plenty of racing excitement to gamers. The game is set for release in early April for the generous price of $79.95 with an American release following in late April.
