While the storyline is standard spy fare, the gameplay appears to be shaping up quite nicely. With the primary focus on stealth style game-play, Mission Impossible distinguishes itself from other stealth games with more hand-to-hand combat capability along with ranged combat and action oriented puzzles and sequences. According to the developers the game is 55% stealth, 25% ranged combat and 20% action puzzles. Hopefully this holds true as it seems like a good mix especially with games like Splinter Cell having a similar makeup and playing so well.

| Stealth in the dark. |
Mission Impossible: Operation Surma provides the player with a strong feeling of being an IMF agent by emphasizing stealth, time pressure, mission goals, high tech gadgets and team work with fellow agents. These gadgets include classic IMF-style gadgets such as scanners, inner-ear communicators and mind- blowing IMF disguises. THe missions will take place in a vide variety of locations in exotic locations including the Middle East, Rome and Eastern Europe.
One obvious disappontment with this game is that the developers haven't been able to secure the use of Tom Cruise, star of the two Mission Impossible movies, with a third movie rumoured for release in 2005. Still, Paradigm Entertainment seem to have included all the right ingredients to be create something special. Expect a release in December 2003.
