Racing around the tracks.
Electronic Arts have released four games to date under the EA Sports BIG label, and three of them have been very impressive titles worthy of any collection. In the first 12 months of the PS2's life in Australia we have been thrilled with games such as SSX, NBA Street and SSX Tricky which have all had great success both critically and commercially and have cemented the EA Sports BIG label as a quality brand. Unfortunately their last title, Sled Storm, lacked the same excitement and polish as the first three titles. The question remained however; What is next? Well, that question has been answered with motorbike riding. Freekstyle dares you to harness the power of your bike while pulling off sick stunts in insane, over the top worlds.

Freekstyle isn't just about coming in first. It's not about being the fastest. Freekstyle sees you trying to perform the best tricks to become the champion. Picture flying through rugged terrain with massive jumps at more than 70 mph, hitting a 40' jump at the ledge of a 200' cliff and pulling off a Superman Seat grab, a Saran-wrap and 360 all before you land. Incomplete stunts will cause the rider to crash and waste valuable time and points.

Getting some massive air.
So what's in the game then? To begin with you can choose from any of eight different riders with their own unique attitude and style including freestyle sensations Mike Metzger, leader of the Metal Mulissha, Brian Deegan, Stefy Bau, Clifford "The Flyin' Hawaiian" Adpptante, Jessica Patterson and Greg 'Albee' Albertyn. Each character has their own unique personality, bikes and outfits. Each of these riders has over 80 tricks to pull off or combine for bonus points and boost include, the McMetz, Saran wrap, superman seat grab, the roll, the helicopter and the 360 to name a few. An all-new scoring system will challenge even the most fearless dirt demon to hold that Lazy Boy for just one more second.

The replay mode with 6 bikes.
The game takes place across nine different venues which will challenge riders to take on some of the most outrageous freestyle terrain on tracks such as Rocket Garden, Crash Pad II, Monumental Motoplex and the ultimate big air course, Big Sky. Hidden paths and shortcuts challenge gamers and add to excitement while special Freekstyle worlds will allow gamers to take the bikes anywhere they have the guts to go. Freekstyle includes game modes such as Circuit, Race and Freestyle and Freeride. This is topped off with a 2-player split screen mode for some intense action between yourself and a friend.

The richly detailed environments are inspired by the sport and embrace the lifestyle of extreme motocross riding. Gone are the barriers and constraints of licensed tracks and venues. While the surrounding screens don't display the in-game action they are very similar to what is on offer. This game is just as impressive graphically then SSX Tricky, if not more so. The detail on the riders is superb and the whole game will be backed with a grunge styled music selection. Freekstyle looks stunning.
