Sean Connery looks wonderful.
One of the biggest movie franchises of all time is Ian Fleming's James Bond. With worldwide grosses surpassing $US1.6 billion dollars it's big business. There's little doubt that the greatest James Bond of all time is the legendary Sean Connery. Finally after numerous Bond games starring Pierce Brosnan (who is also a very good James Bond in our opinion) Electronic Arts are bringing the worlds most popular 007 back to the screen - albeit in video game form. But why change from the current James Bond, Pierce Brosnan? Well there's a couple of probably reasons. Firstly, there's no new James Bond movie on the near horizon with a remake of Casino Royal in development hell at the moment. Secondly, it's looking more and more likely that Pierce Brosnan won't be returning to the series with producers looking for a new, younger, James Bond. Finally, there hasn't been a game starring Sean Connery in the role yet.

Expect plenty of explosions!
As you can imagine Electronic Arts will stay fairly close to the plot in From Russia With Love. In the movie the evil SPECTRE organization has hatched a plan to steal a decoder that will access Russian state secrets and irrevocably unbalance the world order. It is up to James Bond to seize the device first, but he must confront enemies that include Red Grant and the ruthless Rosa Klebb - a former KGB agent with poison-tipped shoes. Even as Bond romances a stunning Soviet defector, Tatiana Romanova, he realizes he is being lured into a deadly trap, and he will need all of his courage, ability and cutting-edge technology to triumph over the forces that seek to destroy him.

Get ready for action.
In terms of gameplay this Bond title once again uses a third person perspective rather then the first person perspecive of earlier Electronic Arts James Bond titles. Electornic Arts are promising non-linear missions in From Russia With Love. Many of these missions are based on events which take place in the movie however the developers have also taken some liberties and created all new original missions and locations for the game. Adding in an RPG styled element the developers are giving gamers the opportunity to equip, upgrade and unlock rewards for James Bond. Once again the developers are including a series of "Bond Moments" which appeared in the previous game, James Bond: Everything or Nothing.

4-player split screen action.
Not only will you be able to drive around in some of the hottest cars, but also use the jetpack to get around levels. Now some of you may say that the jetpack wasn't seen in the movies until Thunderball, the movie after From Russia With Love. Well, yes, but who say's it didn't exist during this movie's timeframe. The jetpack is also equipped with a machine gun and rocket launcher so we can expect plenty of action up in the air. Indeed the demo at E3 showed the jetpack being used to pick off enemies around London's Big Ben tower before being attacked by a helicopter.

Targeting the enemy.
While we're on the subject of weapons James Bond has a wide range at his disposal from grenades, to pistols, machine guns to your fists. That's right you can also enter a melee with enemies. The game will also include a wide range of unlockable content from artwork to movies and bonus characters for use in multi-player. This is done by the points awarded upon the completion of each level.

Fans will be saddened to hear that this game won't include any online options - an area where many Electronic Arts titles seem to struggle sadly. It's not all bad though with the developers giving us a 4-player split screen mode. As you can see in the screenshot to the right here this mode is already shaping up very nicely indeed.

Some sensational graphics.
As you would expect from a game set in the 1960's Cold War era the look of the game, including the cars, buildings, fashion and locations has all been faithfully recreated for the game. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Electronic Arts got Sean Connery back into the recording studio to record some new dialogue for the game. With the game due out in very late November there is still plenty of time for the development team to make this the best Bond game ever. Certainly Electronic Arts are taking each new game up a couple of notches and From Russia With Love looks no different. Sean Connery fans start rejoycing...
