Now they're nice graphics.
The name, 187 Ride or Die may not be instantly recognisable due to it being a new franchise but Ubisoft have a lot of promise in this game with an impressive cast of young actors, impressive visuals and some action packed gameplay. Consider this game a cross between two somewhat interesting titles - EA's Burnout and Take Two's Grand Theft Auto. I bet that got your attention didn't it!

187 Ride or Die features the voices and likenesses of rising young actors including Larenz Tate (Menace II Society, Ray), Noel Gugliemi (Training Day, The Fast and the Furious), and Guerilla Black. 187 Ride or Die tells the story of a reluctant urban hero named Buck (L. Tate), a young man living a thug’s life seething with money, fast cars and beautiful women – and danger lurking around every corner. Set in the underworld of Los Angeles, Buck must defend the territory of his mentor Dupree (G. Black) from a menacing nemesis and his gang of bandit roughriders, led by Cortez (N. Gugliemi), who are determined to take control of the streets.

Expect plenty of destruction.
Essentially this game plays as a cross between Burnout and most other urban action titles. In terms of the driving sections the game is lightning fast almost up to the speed in Criterion's racing titles. The 30 or so cars in the game range from vintage roadsters to modern muscle cars. The big difference between the Burnout titles and this one is the ability to use weapons to take out the opposition. 187 Ride or Die will include 14 weapons to take out the opposition including Uzis, shotguns, mines, and Molotov cocktails to name a few.

More action in the streets.
Game modes include single player Death Race, Cop Chase and Assassination. 4-player online gameplay will also play a major role in the title with several different game modes to select from. In all 187: Ride or Die will include over 10 single player and multi-player modes.

As you can see from the surrounding screenshots the graphics in 187: Ride or Die certainly are impressive. The background detail may look a little lacking, but much like Burnout when you see the speed at which these cars tear around the streets you soon forget this. Expect 187: Ride or Die to hit the streets in late August.
