Sony has announced that their Music Unlimited service will be closing on Playstation Platforms on March 29, but it's not all bad news, far from it as the company has announced that streaming music service Spotify will be coming to the Playstation Network (PS3 and PS4) as a part of the Playstation Music branding.
According to rumours doing the rounds online CD Project Red are considering including a Permadeath "Insanity" mode in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In this mode the game will delete your save file if you die - so, yes, you get one life to complete the game! Insane...
Rumors have swirled over the last couple of weeks that the next Assassin's Creed game is called Victory and set in Victorian Era England, well a fan of the franchise has noticed in an art book for the franchise a series of images in an Abstergo building which link to games in the franchise - there's even one of Big Ben for Victory, but the image also contains some Asian looking buildings - possibly Chinese or Japanese? Could there be an Assassin's Creed set in the Far East? Possibly...

If you're looking for a copy of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected on PS4 then you might be out of luck in Australia. RebootPR have announced that the game has been recalled. Speculate as you will, but just remember that the game is censored in Australia, but not overseas. We're just guessing but here's the official and only statement:
Unfortunately over the weekend, it has come to light that the PlayStation 4 retail release of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected has a serious manufacturing issue and a nationwide recall is now underway in Australia.
A manufacturing issue has caused an incorrectly classified version of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected for our territory to be released. This strictly affects PlayStation 4 retail versions.
All customers who have purchased the PlayStation 4 version of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected are encouraged to return to their retailer for a full refund.
Replacement copies with the correct content are on order and will arrive with retailers soon.
Techland have today released the launch trailer for their zombie action title Dying Light. Unfortunately the game will only be released digitally initially due to production issues with the retail version (that will drop on February 27 now). In any case this video is pretty sweet.

Be patient as the e-mails will take a few days to get to everyone. Also, this weekend is the 10% off sale - just be mindful it's a single use voucher.

Indeed, if you like disaster movies then this latest release is definately worth a watch with some fantastic visual effects and destruction. Fortunately Village Roadshow have provide a stellar transfer for this Blu-Ray as well.

Those looking forward to Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number in Australia will be disappointed to hear the game has been Refused Classification here in Australia - meaning it can't be sold here - and the developers Devolver have said they won't be modifying the game to suit our guidelines. In fact, their recommendation, just pirate the game! Having said that, and as detailed in this article on Kotaku and as detailed by the Australian Classification Board the game does seem to have some explicit scenes. As detailed in the report:
“In the sequence of game play footage titled Midnight Animal, the protagonist character bursts into what appears to be a movie set and explicitly kills 4 people, who collapse to the floor in a pool of copious blood, often accompanied by blood splatter. After stomping on the head of a fifth male character, he strikes a female character wearing red underwear. She is knocked to the floor and is viewed lying face down in a pool of copious blood. The male character is viewed with his pants halfway down, partially exposing his buttocks. He is viewed pinning the female down by the arms and lying on top of her thrusting, implicitly raping her (either rear entry or anally) while her legs are viewed kicking as she struggles beneath him. This visual depiction of implied sexual violence is emphasised by it being mid-screen, with a red backdrop pulsating and the remainder of the screen being surrounded by black.”
PS4 Preview Wild is a game which a lot of gamers are likely to be very excited about. Why is Wild exciting? Well, the creator of Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil, Michel Ancel, has created his own indie studio called Wild Sheep and this survival game, Wild, is the first game from that company. It's a PS4 exclusive and already looks gorgeous.

WB Games Australia have released a new trailer for Mortal Kombat X called "Who's Next". It looks pretty spectacular so... enjoy.
Electronic Arts and Visceral Games have announced that the Open Beta for Battlefield: Hardline will be hitting all consoles (PS4, PS3, XBox One, XBox 360) and PC in an undetermined future date. The Beta will include two maps, and two modes - Hotwire and Conquest. The game is due out in March, so can't be too long before the Beta drops. Hopefully it allows the developers to iron out a lot of issues that plagued the release of Battlefield 4.
Despite the fact that Australia now has an R18+ rating Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number has been Refused Classification in Australia so can't be released here. According to this article on Kotaku the game has an explicit rape scene which falls outside the guidelines. For us, after reading the details, this isn't acceptable and the Classification Board were probably right to ban the game.
PS4 Preview Saints Row IV: Re-Elected plus Gat Out Of Hell is the first time the franchise is hitting the PS4 and not only includes the previous PS3 title - with visual enhancements of course - but also a tonne of DLC released post PS3 launch as well as the new standalone title Gat Out Of Hell (which is available seperately on PS3). The PS3 release was one of the whackiest, most entertaining releases in recent years and we can't wait to get this enhanced version.

Capcom have announced that DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition will release a week early on March 10, instead of March 17. The PS4 port of the game offers improved visuals. improvements and balancing to the gameplay, the option to play as Dante's brother Virgil in the Bloody Palace mode and more.
Don't be alarmed or annoyed when it happens, but Sony have given warning that the Playstation Network will be going offline for maintenance for approximately 4 hours on Thursday January 15 - so probably early hours January 16 here in Australia.
Assassin's Creed: Unity had a bit of a rocky launch for Ubisoft and as a "thank you" for our patience owners of the game will receive the first major DLC called "Dead Kings" will be available for free. The good news; it's out today, but weighs in at a pretty hefty 7GB apparently.
Hitman developer Io Interactive have confirmed they have a new game in development with more details to follow this year. They tweeted that "There's more info coming this year and we can't wait to share it!"

In what could be a rather amusing addition to the game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will allow you to drop the difficulty if needed, however by doing so your character will be forced to wear a chicken hat - yes, you'll look like a chicken.
Blu-Ray Review These Final Hours is a brilliant Australian film which asks a fascinating question; What would you do if you knew your life, and indeed all life on the planet, would end in only 12 hours? That is the question posed by this wonderful and dramatic film which is definately worth a look on Blu-Ray.

Sony has confirmed that Playstation 4 launch in China has been delayed due to "various factors". The console was due to release on January 11 but as yet a new release date has not been announced. The Chinese government only lifted a ban on console sales last year but are still very stringent on the games being released in the country.

It's the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in America this week and while it primarily focuses on non-gaming technology such as new TV's, streaming media, audio, and other electronic gear there have been a couple of announcements from Sony that are of interest.
First of all Sony has today confirmed that the Playstation 4 has now sold through a very impressive 18.5 million units as of January 4 with 4.1 million sales over the holiday period. That makes the console the fastest seller in the companies history - even outpacing the Playstation 2. Given the lack of big quality titles in 2014 we here at Futuregamez only see an upward trend.
Playstation Now was also announced and priced for America at $US19.99 per month or $44.99 for 3 months. The service allows you to stream PS3 games and play them on your console with over 100 titles at launch. As yet there is no date or price for the service to come to Europe or Australia.
Moving on and Sony confirmed that 10.9 million of those console owners are subscribed to Playstation Plus - and in our opinion you're a damn fool if not subscribed given the great value you get with it.
Also announced at CES was the news that there is a new Tony Hawk Skateboarding title coming to the PS4 in 2015. As yet it is unknown if it will be retail or digital download, or if the game is a PS4 exclusive but expect it to make a splash at E3 for sure - it's been quite a while since the last title in the series.
Movie Industry News
It's been in development for a considerable amount of time but the Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender will release on December 21, 2016. The film is being directed by Aussie Snowtown director Justin Kurzel. One big issue we see though, the film will come out withing a week of the upcoming Star Wars spin-off movie which is rumoured to focus on a young Han Solo.

Network Outage News
Sony have today announced compensation that gamers who were subscribed to Playstation Plus during the Christmas outage will receive. This includes 5 additional days of PS+ subscripion which will automatically be added to your account as well as a voucher for 10% off one checkout in the Playstation Store. Not too bad, but not as much as we would have hoped given the outage occurred at the busiest time of the year - and when many people have days off work to enjoy their games, some of which Santa would have brought them.
Blu-Ray Review Lucy is the latest film from French master filmmaker Luc Besson, the creative mind behind The Professional, La Femme Nikita and The Fifth Element. This film, Lucy, looks at what happens if we unlock more then the 10% power of our brain. Scarlett Johannson and Morgan Freeman star in this sci-fi thriller.

Happy New Year
Just a quick note wishing everyone a Happy New Year. Remember if you are out celebrating to take it easy, don't drink and drive and act responsibly. We see enough idiots in this world without out friends and readers adding to the news coverage! We're taking a couple of days off but will see you in the new year.

Network Outage News
As you may have noticed the Playstation Network seems to be back up and running - at least for now. Sony haven't provided any details about the reasons for the downtime - it's still speculated that it was a Denial of Service attack (basically the network is flooded with requests which the servers can't process. Anyway, time to get your game back on folks.

Network Outage News
So here we are two days after issues started and the Playstation Network is still down. Apparently - but we haven't confirmed - some XBox Live services are back online so hopefully it's only a matter of time for Sony too. After Sony Picture's massive hack a few weeks ago, pulling The Interview from theatrical release and then backflipping and doing a limited and VOD release this is the last thing the company need. In short, if you got a console for Christmas, don't dispair if you can't connect online. We will update if any more news is released.

Network Outage News
So the Playstation Network (and XBox Live) are still down. Both companies are still reporting they are looking into the issues. If you got a console, or new game, for Christmas, well go and spend some time with your family for a bit longer.
December 25, 2014
Well this is the Christmas Day message we didn't want to say but in recent days there have been threats from a group of, well, let's call them tossers, called LizardSquad threatining to take down the Playstation and XBox networks - and that is exactly what has happend. Users around the globe - ourselves included - are unable to connect consoles online. Sony and Microsoft are looking into the issues but needless to say this is the last thing either company would want on their most important day of the year. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.
December 24, 2014
Well a Merry Christmas to everyone we hope everyone has a great day and in particular spends time with family and loved ones which given recent events around the globe, and even in Australia with Martin Place Siege and the tragedy in Cairns this week seems even more important. We'll update the site with any major news over the coming week and of course have the Game of the Year Awards coming up in the new year.
December 23, 2014
Blu-Ray Review The Expendables 3 sees the old-school action stars back yet again (we're talking Stallone, Statham, Lundgren, Snipes, Ford, Gibson and Banderas), but are recruiting some youngsters as well. This Unrated cut adds more action and gore, and it's quite a bit of fun.
December 22, 2014
Finally we have internet back online - for those interested it was the Isolator outside and took the Telstra tech around 5 minutes to replace, if that. So we're back and in a mad scramble to get some more site updates and reviews done.
December 21, 2014
Blu-Ray Review Hercules stars Dwayne Johnson - pretty much the closest human to Hercules in stature in the world today. This is an interesting, and entertaining, take on the legendary son of Zeus and provides a couple of hours of entertainment. Fortunately the Blu-Ray includes an unrated, gorier, cut of the film unlike the sanitised theatrical release. Huzzah!
December 21, 2014
Blu-Ray Review Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - yes that lovable 1980s cartoon series - is being reimagined for the big screen. With Michael Bay producing the film it was always going to be spectacular, and while the film falls a little short in storyline, it's an entertaining release.
December 16, 2014
PS4 Review Far Cry 4 is Ubisoft's open-world shooter and is hitting the PS4 just in time for Christmas. This is a fantastic release with some stunning visuals, and tight FPS gameplay. This is definately one to add to your collection.
December 14, 2014
You may have noticed we've been a little quiet with updates of late, well it seems that in our mega storm that hit the Gold Coast on December 9 (last Tuesday) we lost both internet and phones. We have our phones back online now but Telstra have advised our Internet connection can't be looked at/resolved before December 22! ARGH indeed... So updates may be a little sporadic and it's pretty hard (Read: Impossible) to play online.
December 13, 2014
Blu-Ray Review Zombeavers is a movie that I had to request for review when I saw it was coming out and, well, you're not wrong, this film is about exactly what it sounds like - zombie beavers. It's not great, but does have some redeeming features. One for fans of "so bad it's good" films...
December 11, 2014
PS4 Review Dragon Age: Inquisistion is the third game in Bioware's epic RPG franchise and while the second game was a little hit and miss, this third game is as solid as they come. Essential for any RPG game collection and another brilliant release on PS4.
December 10, 2014
Blu-Ray Review Snowpiercer is without a doubt one of the most electric and exciting films you will see in 2014. Korean director Joon-ho Bong has done a fantastic job creating this film based on a French comic which stars Chris Evans, John Hurt and the scene-stealing Tilda Swinton.
