When the PS3 launched it soon became apparent that one of the big features was the Playstation Home hub - a virtual world which could be explored, had plenty of mini-games to play and enjoy and, of course, plenty of microtransactions to buy virtual items. Well, sadly, it seems the service's time has come to an end with Sony pulling the plug on the service which is a shame as we've had quite a few hours of fun in Playstation Home. As detailed here:
Due to a shifting landscape, PlayStation Home will cease publishing new content on the 12th of November, 2014. Gamers in Europe will be able to download content until the 3rd of December, 2014. As a token of our tremendous gratitude to the community, we will also be releasing a series of free content prior to the platforms closure on the 31st of March, 2015.

PS4 Review Destiny is, without a doubt, one of the biggest games of the year not least of which as it has been developed by Bungie who have previously worked on a little franchise called Halo for Microsoft. We've taken our time with this review, but the end result is a game which is generally very good with plenty of future potential, but which doesn't quite live up to the hype.

With this new generation of console including a Hard Drive it seems every game seems to install a tonne of date - some up to almost 50GB - so the entire Blu-Ray disc. But fans of Evolution's upcoming Driveclub will be pleased to hear the game will only install 17GB due to data compressions. Furthermore if purchasing the game digitally gamers can start playing after only 3.5GB of download with the remainder downloading in the background. Game is due out in 3 weeks!

XBox One/Industry News
So the XBox One launched in Japan last week and official sales figures are now through. The system sold 23,562 units in the first 4 days which is, well, pretty pathetic really. Microsoft have always struggled in the territory however even the XBox 360 sold 60,000 units in the first two days and the original XBox 123,000 units in the first 3 days. More recently the PS4 sold 322,000 units in the first 2 days and the Wii U 308,000 units. Time will tell if Microsoft can reverse this poor start.
September 10, 2014

Blu-Ray Review Sabotage sees Arnold Schwarzenegger back on the big (well small as this missed Australian cinemas) in his most brutal role to date as a DEA agent in charge of a team who are getting picked off one by one. This is a solid film worth checking out although the video transfer is a little, well, interesting.
September 1, 2014
Sony held their Pre-TGS (Tokyo Game Show) conference over the weekend and there were a few newsworthy highlights. So, here we go...

Dragonborne was shown off an given a Japanese release date of February 5. Naturally there is no date outside Japan, but put some money on a couple of months later.

Square-Enix dropped a bombshell with Dragon Quest Heroes announced. It's not a full RPG however with more of a Dynasty Warriors style, which isn't surprising given Omega Force is on development duties for the title.
Finally, The Last Guardian was given a 30 minute gameplay demo with a December 22 release announced. Oh, actually, no that didn't happen - in fact there was nothing seen of the game yet again.

Blu-Ray Review Noah was always going to be an intersting film - a great cast and with Darren Aronofsky directing there were high expectations. Any biblical tale told in film is fraught with the possibility of upsetting people, and Noah is no exception. This will divide opinion, but the acting and visuals are superb.
August 27, 2014

August 25, 2014
Did you have problems connecting to the Playstation Network over the weekend. Well the network apparently came under attack over the weekend from a hacking group called Lizardsquad. The attack wasn't a security breach (and Sony have confirmed no information was taken) but rather a DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) which floods the network blocking traffic. Several other online game networks were also affected including Battle.net and League of Legends. No doubt the incident is being investigated, and apparently a hacking group also called in a bomb threat against a Sony executive on a plane - so now the FBI is involved too.
Sony Japan has announced that they will be shutting down the Playstation Home service from March 2015. Playstation Home has been widely used in Europe and America, but the online environment has struggled in Japan to build a large following. August 23, 2014
Blu-Ray Review The Raid 2 is the sequel to the phenomenally entertaining 2012 Indonesian action film. This sequel takes a very different approach with a much deeper story, more emotion and plenty more action sequences. A brilliant film that action fans should check out.
August 20, 2014
Well it seems that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 may actually be happening. Some sneaky chap has found apparent boxart from the title on the XBox servers which you can see here - although Capcom hasn't mentioned anything about the game as yet, and it could be a dummy box or cancelled project, it looks pretty polished.
Sony have today released a 6-minute video for the upcoming PS4 action title Bloodborne. It looks, well, just fantastic. Check it out...
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is another phenomenal looking title coming out on the PS4 and today the developers have released a 35 minute gameplay video. Given the reported 100 hour game length it shouldn't offer too many spoilers!
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, in an interview with GameInformer (which you can read here) has confirmed that the company will be moving away from last generation consoles. He states that "What we see is that this year is still fine for the PS3 and 360, but next year because they are selling very quickly, we’ll move to the new hardware. After 2015, it will be hard for us to create games for those systems".
August 19, 2014

August 18, 2014
So Microsoft announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider was to be a XBox exclusive for release in Holiday 2015 a couple of days ago, and the internet lit up like a Christmas tree - and we too were pretty pissed. Well it has since come to light that the game isn't a complete platform exclusive, but has since been revealed as a timed exclusive. So while it's not announced there is every likelyhood that sometime in 2016, PS4 (and perhaps PS3) gamers will also get to enjoy Lara's latest adventure.
What can we say about Project Cars other then it's looking absolutely gorgeous. Today NamcoBandai have released a Gamecom Trailer and it's gorgeous.

August 15, 2014
One of the big announcements from Sony's Gamescom Press Conference is that the company has sold through 10 million Playstation 4 systems since the consoles launch. That's double Microsoft's XBox One sales, although their figures are sold-in which includes unsold units sitting on store shelves. Well done Sony.
