Christmas/New Years Message
So here we are at the end of yet another year and we here (that being Michael and myself, David) want to wish all our readers and the companies that support us a very happy Christmas and New Years. Of course this year has been big for me personally with the birth of my daughter, Sophie, a couple of weeks ago, and it really gives a very new, and tiring, perspective on life. In any case we hope yo have a great break and while we don't intend to return until January 6, if there are any major new stories we'll jump on and provide an update. If not, see you in 2014!

PS4 Review Killzone: Shadow Fall is Sony's big PS4 launch FPS really is a technical accomplishment. Some of the best looking visuals only highlight a very solid shooter with great multiplayer components. Here's our review.

Sony Australia has released a, well, press release stating that the company expects plenty of PS4 stock to arrive in February 2014. Rather then paraphrase here's the juicy confirmation part: "Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.) today confirmed it is expecting significant quantities of the new PlayStation®4 (PS4™) system to arrive in Australia early next year. The new stock will not only fulfil all current pre-orders but will offer thousands more fans the opportunity to own a PlayStation 4 from February 2014 onwards."
Confirmation today that South Park: The Stick Of Truth will be released in Australia in a slightly censored form. Apparently an alien anal probe scene has been removed and replaced with a text description, and crying Koala. Still, this game is looking pretty bonkers, has an R18+ rating even with the modification, and looks to be worth checking out in a couple of months.

PS4 Review Call of Duty: Ghosts was a PS4 launch title, and has already proven to be a big seller, despite declining sales for the franchise in recent years. So we've already reviewed the PS3 version of this game, but now it's time for next-gen which brings with it much improved visuals, and an increase in the players in multiplayer modes. Impressive.

PS4 Review Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is, in our books, one of the most exciting PS4 launch titles. The Assassin's Creed franchise has a massive fanbase and this latest title is the best game in the franchise for quite a few years. It's a fantastic title that should be at, or very close to, the top of every PS4 owners list.

Sony is currently rolling out PS4 Firmware 1.52 which provides "system stability" as it's main feature. This update will, of course, download automatically in the background in the coming day or so if your PS4 is set up to do so.
One of the best looking games coming to the PS4 next year is The Division and Ubisoft have just released a video showing off the various visuals used in the new Snowdrop Engine. Gorgeous.
Ubisoft have today released a Short Trailer for South Park: The Stick of Truth and it's pretty entertaining... Game is due out March 6 next year on the PS3 (no next-gen version announced folks).

NamcoBandai have announced that Square-Enix will be releasing Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition on PS4 next year. The game will not only include upgraded visuals including TRESS FX technology which gives Lara and other characters realistic hair, as one would expect. The Definitive Edition includes all of the original downloadable content, plus digital versions of the Dark Horse comic, Brady Games mini-art book and the Final Hours developer videos. The game will be released on January 30, 2014. Here's a trailer...

PS3 Review Need for Speed: Rivals is the latest Need for Speed title from publishers Electronic Arts, although this time there's a new developer in Ghost Games. This is a very entertaining title and definately worth a look if racing is your thing. Here's a review.

We just had to pass this one on... For the next two days Sony, as a part of their 12 Days of Chirstmas Sale, have Need for Speed: Rivals on sale for only $AU24.95 - definately worth picking up (we will have our review online in the next day or so, but it will be scoring pretty well). Sadly, the sale does not extend to the PS4 version :(
Telltale Games have announced two new games coming out next year. The first is Game of Thrones which is due out in 2014 and while it will play similar to The Walking Dead the developers are promising large-scale battles. No platforms have been announced, but PS3 is almost certain and PS4 likely.
That's not all from Telltell Games with Tales from the Borderlands also announced for release in 2014. While Telltale are developing the game Gearbox are providing artwork and assets. No platforms have been announced, but PS3 is almost certain and PS4 likely.
Bungie have announced that Destiny, their MMO Shooter will be released worldwide on September 9 2014 - with the Beta taking place on PS3 and PS4 a couple of months early during the American Summer.

PS4 Review Knack was a launch title on the Playstation 4 and what makes this most interesting is that, not only is it a new IP, but it's from the creative mind that had a hand in the PS4's development as well as games such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance. Is this family friendly title worth checking out? Well, here's our review...

PS3 Review FIFA 14 is the latest release in EA's long-running franchise. As we are aware FIFA games always sell by the truckload and there's little wonder as EA rarely put a foot wrong with the games. This years title is no exception and Michael very much enjoyed this release.

So here she is, the reason why I haven't got a PS4 yet (although I will pick it up today), and the reason why reviews of the launch titles may be delayed by a few days... Anyway here's Sophie Abigail Warner, the newest member of the Futuregamez team!

ONE DAY, TWO MASSIVE EVENTS!
So today, Friday November 29 has been a very exciting day for many people, but perhaps none moreso then myself. Not only is today the day that next-generation gaming arrives in the form of the Playstation 4, but it also sees the birth of my first child, a gorgeous young girl we've named Sophie Abigail Warner. Born at 9.59am this morning both mum and bub are doing very well.
Of course this has meant a very limited amount of time for me to test out the Playstation 4 - in fact, I won't get a chance to even unbox and play with it until tomorrow. But as any parent would know, everything comes second to a child and I'm learning that very quickly. Never fear the PS4 reviews will be coming thick and fast in a couple of days time so stay tuned. Oh, and I don't even have a photo with me of Sophie to put on the site yet. Stay tuned... and keep on gaming!
