PS3 Review Grand Theft Auto V should need no introduction - in fact we're certain it doesn't. Rockstar's open-world game is certain to be the biggest release of 2013 - and $US800 million in launch day sales are proving that. But is the game any good? No, it's bloody brilliant.

Shuhei Yoshida has tweeted that Capcom's Deep Down will be a Free to Play game on PS4! His tweet states "Capcom just announced that "deep down" will be a f2p game on PS4, planning open Beta near the launch of PS4 in Japan. ". Of course Free 2 Play suggests the game will also heavily rely on in-game microtransactions to provide a revenue stream. Time will tell how much this affects the game, but at least it will be free to spend a good amount of time playing.
Rockstar has announced that first day sales of Grand Theft Auto V have surpassed $US800 million on the first day on sale. The previous record was $US500 million which was held by Call of Duty: Black Ops. Many expected Rockstar's title to reach $US1 billion within 30 days, but that seems likely to be reached much sooner.

Electronic Arts have announced via the games Twitter account that NBA Live 14 will be released on the PS4 on November 19 in America, a week after the consoles launch. There is no European date yet, but with the console releasing a bit over aweek later we suspect it may be a launch title here. The game is not coming to current-gen consoles.
So this month XBox 360 owners received Rainbow Six: Vegas - the 2006, 7-year old game, for their freebie. That's quite laughable when Sony Europe are giving away three phenomenal, and 12-month old games Far Cry 3, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. PSVita owners get the phenomenal Street Fighter x Tekken as well as Touch My Katamari. Massive win for Sony!
Today is, of course the day that Grand Theft Auto V comes out and, well, we expect quite a few sick gamers today needing to stay home. We'd also suspect if you're reading this you're already half way out the door to the shops... so, umm, enjoy GTAV launch day!
BEST. PRESS RELEASE. EVER.
So today we got a press release that is, well, just too go not to post. It does though challenge the notion of strong digital sales on platforms, but does remind us of a fantastic bargain for European gamers. Read on...
Fuel Overdose competes with GTA V for a new sales record
Tokyo (September 16th, 2013). While GTA V is about to hit the stores and break a new sales record, Skander Djerbi founder of I-Friqiya is proud to announce that Fuel Overdose available on the PlayStation Store for PS3 is about to break a new record: Released in December 2012 in Europe and March 2013 in North America, the game sold... 600 units worldwide. With such a performance, Fuel Overdose that some reviewers (drunk?) considered as an “outstanding” game could even compete for the title of the worst selling console game of all times.
I-Friqiya is proud to mark the history of the video game culture and encourages other publishers and developers to publish their sales figures to challenge Fuel Overdose’s performance and unveil a part of the truth regarding the current situation of the digital download markets.
The Fuel Overdose team would also like to remind that Fuel Overdose is available on the North American PlayStation Store ($9.99) and that there are only 2 days left before the end of the special time-limited offer (83% off - only €1.99 instead of €11.99) on the European PlayStation Store.
XBox One News
After stating yesterday that the game runs at 1080p, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has today confirmed that one of the biggest XBox One launch titles Ryse: Son of Rome from Crytek actually runs at 900p resolution. Add to that the fact that Killer Instict runs at 720p on Microsoft's console, and it's not looking so powerful really.

EA's Peter Moore has confirmed in this Blog post that FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25 and Battlefield 4 will be launch titles on the PS4 - that's November 29 in Europe and Australia and November 12 in America. Blu-Ray Review Tai Chi 0 has been released on Blu-Ray with both the 2D and 3D versions of the film on a single disc. It's a unique film in the same vein of comedy style as Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer and is well worth seeking out. Here's the full review of this release.

Those of you looking to pre-load Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V from the Playstation Store may want to take note that the European version will be available from Sunday September 15 while Americans won't be able to download the game until Monday September 16, the day before release. The game was put up a couple of weeks ago however hackers found a way to decode the files thereby leaking the song tracklist and much of the games storyline at which point Sony removed the download, and issued an apology to Rockstar!

Released in Japan on February 22, 2014 - that's a couple of months after America/Europe. Price will be 39,980 yen. The system will be released later in Japan to allow more time to develop more unique game titles for Japan. (Gotta say Japanese gamers have to be a bit disappointed right now!).
PS4 First Limited Pack will include a PS4, and download code for Knack, and (we think) 2-year warranty for the same price as the console on its own.
Four disc based and four downloadable titles - Knack (made by same developer as "Ratchet and Crack" according to translator hehe), inFamous: Second Son, Driveclub and (we think) Killzone. Downloadable titles include Flower, Doki Doki Universe, Hohokum and Resogun. Not sure why the delay given they are all launch window titles in America/Europe except inFamous.
The Playroom is being shown - a series of motion controlled mini-games which comes pre-loaded on all consoles.

Capcom's deepdown is given the trailer treatment and then given a playable demonstration, will be an online game, new engine co-developed with SCEE engineers. Game is set in 2094 New York, with character getting memories from items to aide in the quest. Game is "unique to PS4"... we think that means exclusive.

PS4/XBox One News
Well a couple of puches back from Microsoft today. The first is that the XBox One CPU has been given a speed boost from 1.6Ghz to 1.75Ghz which is a nice little increase - Sony have not announced the speed for PS4 CPU as yet. The other boost for XBox One today is that Sony confirmed the PS4 only supports 4 controllers - half that of the XBox One.
Blu-Ray Review Zero Dark Thirty is a film which follows on from director Kathryn Bigelow's Academy Award winning success with The Hurt Locker. Following that film she turned her attention to the hunt for Osama Bin Laden which had to be rewritten when he was killed just prior to production. This is yet another impressive film worth checking out on Blu-Ray.

Namco Bandai have announced that Ace Combat: Inifinity will be coming to PS3 in 2013. What makes this so special is that the game is free-to-play but still promises "with a brand new story campaign and team co-op multiplayer".
XBox One News
So its been a bit of a mixed week for Microsoft and the XBox One. First of all was the news that the voice recognition through the Kinect won't actually work in many countries - Australia included. But then it was confirmed that it does work in limited capacity, but apparently not even for the command "XBox On"... So what does work? Who knows. Then confirmation that the XBox One wouldn't support external HDD's at launch - that will be added later. Finally word has just come out that the console will support 8 controllers. FYI Sony are yet to announce how many controllers the PS4 supports.
