Naughty Dog have released version 1.02 patch for The Last Of Us which removes a phone number on a board in the game which actually takes you to an adult service. As well as that there have been a swag of multiplayer updates and fixes including removing a crash bug, better host migration, reduced viting time, and more. It's a cracker game, just buy it!
EA Sports and NHLPA have announced that New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur will feature on the cover for NHL 14. The game is due out in September worldwide on PS3.
It's been a while since Ubisoft released anything Prince of Persia but it seems the franchise may be kicking up a gear again with a post of the official Facebook page (available here) last Saturday stating "Get ready for some news about Prince of Persia, starting next week..." Let's hope the company has a new game in the works.

Sony have confirmed that a demo for Puppeteer will be released in Europe prior to the games launch on September 11. The European demo will be much longer then the recent Japanese one.
It's not Playstation news, but affects the industry all the same. Microsoft have confirmed they have dropped the fees (reportedly around $US40k) for developers to put out an update on XBLA. In the past some developers have bypassed patching their games on the XBox 360 due to these fees alone - even if bugs were found.
According to Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen Sony asked them to write the script for an Uncharted film on several occasions over the last four years. The writers turned it down due to not knowing how to best bring it to the big screen - despite a love for the franchise.

Mindscape have confirmed that Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warriors 8 has been pushed back a couple of weeks in Australia to a July 25 release.
Sony have confirmed that the demo for Gran Turismo 6 will be released next week. We're somewhat dismayed to learn that "The demo is structured as a GT Academy-style driver training concept where you progressively learn the skills required to push very expensive track monsters at full speed round impossible apexes. The course where the action takes place is Silverstone". Still, there's no doubt the demo will be worth checking out on July 2.
Blu-Ray Review The Last Stand is the first starring film for Arnold Schwarzenegger (if you exclude his cameos in The Expendables films recently). This is actally a very entertaining film with great supporting cast and definately worth checking out on Blu-Ray.

Despite the introduction of a R18+ classification here in Australia we now have the first Refused Classification for a video game this year - and it's a major release too - Saint's Row IV. Update: We now have confirmation that the game has been RC'd due to an Alien Alien Probe weapon, and drugs being used as a reward and performance enhancer. Publisher Deep Silver have confirmed the game will be modified in order to fit under the R18+ classification here in Australia - no word if that means a release date slip from August 23.
Blu-Ray Review Stolen is the latest film from Nic Cage, but sadly, it's not one of his best films. While it's not completely unwatchable it's certainly no highlight of recent cinema. Fortunately the Blu-Ray provides a decent transfer.

PS3 Review The Last Of Us was a surprise announcement from Naughty Dog last year, a new franchise so late in the PS3 life cycle from a new team at the studio. What has resulted is one of the best games of this generation and an essential purchase for anyone over 18 years of age.

XBox One News
Microft has announced that they are pretty much reversing all their DRM and online requirements for the XBox One - and have also confirmed their games will be region free as well. The company thanked Sony for showing them how misguided they were in their understanding of consumer concerns. This means the console will not require you to check in online every 24 hours, that you can share games by handing discs to friends, and you can import games which is in line with what Sony have always proposed for PS4.
* Note: Microsoft didn't actually thank Sony - but in our books they should have!

Sony America has confirmed that their first party PS4 titles will retail in the States for $US59.99 - the same price as current top-tier PS3 titles. As yet we've heard no word on Australian pricing, but expect to get suitably ripped off at $119.95 as per usual (we should be paying about $70 given current conversion rates). Of coure the PS4 will be region free so...
Sony has also confirmed that while playing multiplayer online requires Playstation Plus membership, auto-updates and social features will be free to all Playstation 4 owners. Currently auto-updates are only enable for Playstation Plus subscribers on PS3.
Capcom has confirmed that their wonderful Panta Rhei tech demo/game called Deep Down which was shown at the February PS4 unveiling will be a brand new IP, and not a part of the Dragon's Dogma franchise as many speculated given the similar themes. No word on a release date as yet.

Those of you purchasing The Last of Us on PS3 today (or whenever you race to the shops) may want to be aware of a small bug stopping auto-save working. Sony are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it (indeed it seems like the day one 1.01 patch may be related. Gamers are advised to check the pause menu, if the saves aren't happening every few minutes it may be worthwhile restarting. Update: Naughty Dog have confirmed the issue was caused by their servers, and has been resolved.

Blu-Ray Review Star Trek: The Next Generation: Season 3 is the latest Blu-Ray release of one of the greatest TV shows ever. This third season was a standout and helped the series gain enough momentum to get it through four more years. This really is a fantastic Blu-Ray release given an exceptional transfer, and superb extras.

XBox One News
So it seems Microsoft have effectively shot themselves in the foot with the XBox One, or at least have loaded the gun. The company has today confirmed that the system will need to go online at least every 24 hours to verify content. The XBox One site states that "With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."
Think that is bad? Well it gets worse... You will also need a 1.5Mbps internet connection - there goes many older ADSL connections. Microsoft state "For an optimal experience, we recommend a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps. (For reference, the average global internet connection speed as measured recently by Akamai was 2.9 Mbps). In areas where an Ethernet connection is not available, you can connect using mobile broadband."
Now, we have to say, if Sony go this way we're going to be mighty pissed off. We, like so many gamers, would NEVER buy an XBox One now due to such restrictions. Want to take your console to grandma's for a few days but she doesn't have internet? Forget it. Only got a slow ADSL connection? Forget it. Lending games to mates? Forget it. Well, actually you can loan a game to friend if they've been on your firends list for more then 30 days, and then, only to one friend. Sony - now's your opportunity to get gamers respect.
Activision have announced that Skylanders: Swap Force Will be hitting the PS4 in late 2013 with a PS3 version due on 16/10/2013. The game is currently in development at Vicarious Visions.
Atlus has announced they will publish a PS4 version of the previously PC exclusive game Daylight being developed by Zombie Studios. Nothing to do with the Stallone film from two decades ago, the game, which runs on Unreal Engine 4, has a horror theme. Here's a trailer from the PC version...
So we're a little disappointed by this with Konami confirming that long-time Snake voice actors David Hayter has been replaced for the next game by Kiefer Sutherland. Now we don't hate Kiefer, far from it, but its a bit disappointing that someone associated with a character for decades is, well, just replaced.

Blu-Ray Review Gangster Squad is a film (Very loosly) inspired by actual events in Los Angeles during the 1950s. Indeed this gangster film has a stellar cast including Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Josh Brolin and whiel it's technically a great Blu-Ray with superb extras this isn't the greatest gangster film ever seen.
