Over the last day or so rumors surfaced that Sony had mandated that all PS4 games must be playable on the PSVita via remote play. Well, all except those using the PS4 Playstation Eye camera which makes sense. Now Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed the rumour with a tweet stating that "Yes, it's true unless the game requires specific hardware like the camera. It will be great to play PS4 games on PS Vita." Indeed. Very exciting stuff...
Ubisoft have confirmed that Rayman Legends has moved up from a September to August 29 release on the PS3. The company has also confirmed that the game will be hitting PSVita on the same date.
PS3 Review Call of Juarez: Gunslinger has seen Ubisoft's action franchise use to digital distribution however that doesn't mean this is a game that should be ignored - far from it in fact. Michael very much enjoyed this Wild West shooter so make just you check out his review of this impressive Ubisoft title.

In recent days confusion has remained about Microsoft planning to implement some DRM on their games so they can only be used on a single console before a payment is required to use it on another. In short, no lending games to makes, no taking a disc around to play at their house. Sony have remained quiet but Twitter campaign around #PS4NoDRM has seen millions of retweet to Sony employees. Kaz Hirai has even seen it and responded, somewhat amusingly, with "Sony has seen your #PS4NoDrM hashtag and took note. We now have absolutely no intention to release Dr Mario on PS4" - Dr Mario. Hehehe. Still, Sony seem to be getting the message that we don't want DRM on games. John Koller, Sony's Head of Hardware Marketing replied with "This is why I love PlayStation fans - the passion bucket overflows".
PS3 Review Dead Island Riptide is the sequel to the 2010 surprise hit from Techland. This game sees the heroes escape the original island, but disaster soon strikes and they are stranded in a new location, but with more of the same risks. Is it worth your time? Here's our review...

XBox One News
Well we watch Microsoft announced their next generation console TV viewing equipment, and information has now leaked that the company has a patent which allows you to collect Achievements for watching TV shows. There you go...
Sticking with XBox One announcement we have to love Francis' Discussion about what he saw (he's the guy that went mental when rumours surfaced the system would need to be always online - see it here). Anyway, enjoy...
PS3 Review Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen isn't an expansion pack but actually includes the entire original Dragon's Dogma title, as well as the rather large expansion. This is definately one for RPG fans to check out, and pretty much an essential purchase if you never played the original game.

PS4 Preview DriveClub is a game which next-generation prospective buyers will like to check out. While Sony's just announced Gran Turismo 6 is (currently) a PS3 exclusive, Sony have PS4 racing fans covered with this stunning looking racer from the creators of WRC on PS2 and Motorstorm on PS3. We take a look at what Evolution Studios have planned for next-gen.
XBox One Announcement
So you missed the announcement of the XBox One, well some clever chap has put together a highlights reel which, well, cuts out all the crap and focuses on Microsoft's key points. It truly is classic... Go the dog...

PS4 Preview Knack was actually the very first game ever shown off by Sony for the Playstation 4 at Sony's Playstation Meeting in February. From Sony's Japan studios this rather cute platform/action title. It could be a pretty big title and definately one to keep an eye on.

Activision have released a new Behind the Scenes trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts which shows off their next-generation engine. It's impressive stuff...
XBox One Announcement
So Microsoft have unveiled their new console, XBox One, which is due for release in 2013. The console is "designed and built as an all in one system" which means games, online TV and social networking. The system is turned on by simply saying "XBox On", and signs you into your account. Hand gestures are used with the included Kinect camera to browse menus. "XBox Home" takes you back to your home menu, "XBox Watch TV" switches you over to Live TV. "Go to Music" takes you to your music, "Go To Internet Explorer" takes you to the browser. It's pretty nice and slick with next to no load times. Skype will be included on XBox One and includes group video calls. XBox Live has more computing power then all the computers in the world in 1999. Really? Games can be recorded and uploaded to the cloud. It wasn't until quite a ways into the unveiling that games were even shown, and even then there wasn't a great deal, just a couple.
Games shown at the unveiling include EA Sports' strategic partnership with Microsoft - FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, NBA Live 14 and UFC - all launching in the next 12 months. Powered by EA Sports Ignite, an all-new game engine. Four times the calculations per second, ten times more animation depth and detail, 3D crowds. FIFA 14 Ultimate Team is only on XBox - more details later this year. Forza Motorsport 5 from Turn 10 Studios was shown, and yes, it loks pretty gorgeous. It's a launch title on XBox One. Remedy have Quantum Break which looks neat. There will be 15 exclusive XBox One games in the first year, 8 of which are brand new IPs. Call of Duty: Ghosts was shown and, as per recent PS3 outings, has exclusively timed DLC for the game on XBox One. It certainly looks wonderful and remains a 60fps shooter.
Ultimately we're not quite sold on the system and Micrsoft's conference did little to answer questions about needing to be always online (you don't, but apparently need to be online at least every 24 hours!), secondhand games (play a game in one console, and then you'll pay to put it in a second!) and that despite the console being off, the Kinect camera will always be on (to hear you turn the system on). The name too is a little clunky in our books (so was XBox 360 for that matter), the machine looks like a black box, and the tech specs weren't exactly the most forthcoming. Yes it has 8GB RAM like the PS4, but there was no mention of DDR5, so we assume it is indeed the much slower DDR3 while the system has an 8-core CPU and Blu-Ray drive.
Having said that there's no doubt that Microsoft have some games companies in their corner including Electronic Arts and Activision - but their games will hit PS4 as well. Sure the voice controls and hand gestures are very nice, and extremely quick response times. The console is due in late 2013 worldwide - same time as the PS4 - but no pricing was announced.

Blu-Ray Review Dredd 3D (which is also available in 2D we must add) is a new version of the classic comic book character on film. Remaining close to the 2000 AD comic book roots this is a hard, fast and brutal film that is quite entertaining. Check our our Blu-Ray review now.

PS4 Preview Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag sees the continuation of Ubisoft's very popular Assassin's Creed franchise. Indeed it is one of the biggest in the video games industry, and this fourth main title is coming to the PS4 either at, or very close to, the systems launch. Here's a preview of this exceptional looking game.

In what has to be seen as a bit of a blow, in fact a pretty major blow, to Nintendo and their Wii U console, Electronic Arts have confirmed they currently have no games in development for the system at all. Countering that, slightly, is the news that Sega are developing three exclusive Sonic titles for Nintendo's consoles. Still, thats a big loss for Nintendo and a positive overall for Sony.

PS3 News/Review Gran Turismo 6 is the game that everyone knew was coming - although there was some surprise and disappointment that Sony's racer was only announced for PS3, and not PSVita or PS4. Still, this is a phenomenally gorgeous looking game and we give you all the details and the first trailer. Oh, did we mention the game is due in late 2013 with a demo due in July.
May 15, 2013
Gaijin Entertainment have confirmed that their MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) War Thunder will be coming to the Playstation 4. The game allows hundreds of gamers to take part in massive World War II air, naval and land battles, with 1.5 million gamers already playing the game on PC. Apparently the PS4 version will hit in late 2013 (so within the launch window!), and it seems like the game is only heading to PS4, and no other consoles at this stage.
Not long to go now. In a matter of hours the future of the Gran Turismo franchise will be announced at Silverstone in the UK. Rumours are strong that Gran Turismo 6 will be unveiled for PS3 - but will there be any love for Playstation 4 or Playstation Vita. Stay tuned...
PS3 Review Star Trek isn't a video game tie-in to the new Star Trek film which is doing phenomenal business at the box office, but is still perfectly timed to cash in. Set between the two recent films with an all-new original story, we check out this latest video game and let you know if it's worth your time.

PS3 Review Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a downloadable game available on the Playstation Store right now. Despite the title this game has nothing to do with the Far Cry 3 storyline, but this standalone product is a nod to 1980s action films, and is tremendous fun. Definately a game worth checking out at a pretty cheap price.

Sega have posted up some financial reports and a couple of key details have emerged. Firstly, the rather crap, Aliens: Colonial Marines has shipped an impressive 1.3 million units. We're not sure if that will result in a sequel, but (partial) developers Timegate have recently shut down, so who knows.
In related news Sega have announced that they currently have five Playstation Vita games in development for release in the next year. No word on the games as yet.
May 10, 2013
Sony have confirmed that they will be unveiling details of the next Gran Turismo at an event at Silverstone race track in the UK on May 15th. Rumours are rife that Gran Turismo 6 will be unveiled, but reports are emerging that the game will be heading to PS3, and not PS4. We'll know in under a week.
PS3 Review Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 sees EA's long-running golf franchise back for yet another annual update and this late in the console lifecycle we expect the best release yet. But have they delivered the goods? Well, you can see our verdict in this full review.

Sony have today announced three new games from smaller independent studios that will hit multiple platforms. Seems like Sony are starting to fire off some shots prior to another console's announcement in a bit over a weeks time.
The first is a side-scrolling game called CounterSpy which is being developed by Dynamighty in San Francisco. The game is described as follows "As an elite member of C.O.U.N.T.E.R., your goal is to infiltrate, sabotage, and strike at the very heart of two opposing Super Powers embroiled in a frenetic Arms Race that threatens the existence of humanity. You are countering the insane plans of these Cold War foes, raiding their seemingly impregnable bases and undermining their sinister machinations, all before they can launch their ever more diabolical weapons of mass destruction against each other."
The second game announced is Hohokum from Sony Santa Monica which is coming to PS4, PS3 and PSVita in 2014. With a bright, colourful visual style not dissimlar to Locoroco, the game "take on the role of a curious flying snake-like character. A technicolour, calligraphic, worm-like, kite-like being! The way you move around the world is very expressive and kinetic and kind of mesmerising to play."
The third game is a rather mysterious title called Doki-Doki Universe from HumaNature Studio. The game will be released on PS4, PS3 and PSVita.
Those of you who love FIFA may, or may not depending on your point of view, be interested to hear the Electronic Arts has secured the rights to the FIFA license for the next thousand years. Oh wait, no, the next decade - or until 2022. The license gives the company to generate games based on the FIFA World Cup and other sanctioned events. FIFA 13 has shipped a whopping 14.5 million units to date, a 30% increas on FIFA 12.
Sticking with Electronic Arts a little longer and the company has announced they have secured the rights to make games based on Star Wars. Disney recently purchased LucasArts, and Star Wars, and only last month shut down development studio LucasArts. Electronic Arts have confirmed that Bioware, Visceral and DICE are working on Star Wars games for release no earlier then April 2014.
Earlier this year Ubisoft snapped up THQ Montreal, and with the purchase of that studio came ex-Ubisoft designer Patrice Desilets. It seemed the company was willing to work with Patrice again, however today comes the news that Ubisoft have fired Patrice from the studio - I guess they couldn't work things out. Talking to Kotaku, Patrice stated:
"Contrary to any statements made earlier today, this morning I was terminated by Ubisoft. I was notified of this termination in person, handed a termination notice and was unceremoniously escorted out of the building by two guards without being able to say goodbye to my team or collect my personal belongings.
This was not my decision.
Ubisoft’s actions are baseless and without merit. I intend to fight Ubisoft vigorously for my rights, for my team and for my game."
PS3 Review Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge may sound rather familar to some. Indeed Ninja Gaiden 3 was released a couple of years ago now and while the game wasn't highly praised, this updated release includes all the DLC as well as several tweaks. Does this upgraded release deliver the goods? Check out our full review...

PS3 Review Defiance may not be at the top of your most wanted list, but it's not too often that we see a MMO shooter on a console, but that's what we have here. Tying into the new TV series this is a decent game which will generate a fanbase. Here's our full review.

Sony have set their pre-E3 Conference for 6pm (US Pacific Standard Time) on June 10 (which is 11am Australian Eastern Standard Time by our count). This will be after Microsoft, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts hold their conferences earlier in the day. Expect a massive focus on next-generation consoles, but we hope Sony spend a little time with PSVita too.
Following disappointments with Zone of the Enders HD Collection release a few months ago Hideo Kojima has confirmed that he has cancelled plans for a sequel in the franchise which had been confirmed last year. He is though working on a patch to fix frame rate issues in the HD Collection.

Electronic Arts have announced that a demo for their upcoming, Insomniac Games developed, game Fuse will be released on the Playstation Store on May 8 - that's next week. The game is the firs time the company has developed a multiplatform title.
Blu-Ray Review Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is a film which many game fans will be keen to check out - perhaps. While the first Silent Hill film wasn't great, it was watchable. Now, seven years later we get a second film, now in 3D, which we hoped would improve on the original. Does it though? A review.

Activision has confirmed that their next Call of Duty game is being developed by Infinity Ward and will be released on November 5. The game will be called Call of Duty: Ghosts and uses and all-new engine which will power the game onto the PS3 as well as next-generation consoles. The games official unveiling will take place on May 21 - the same day that Microsoft announce their next console. You can see a teaser trailer (no in-game footage) below...
May 1, 2013
Rockstar has today released a new trailer, well three actually, for Grand Theft Auto V. Each of the trailers focuses on a new character in the game - Michael. Franklin. Trevor. GTAV is due out this September.
Ubisoft have today confirmed the release of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon which, while using the same engine used in Far Cry 3 really has nothing to do with that game. Still it looks bloody fantastic and at $AU21.95 it's worth picking up. Oh it's worth pointing out you don't need the original game to play this - it's a standalone title and this week is 20% off for Playstation Plus subscribers too! Check out the cool launch trailer below...
Sony has today sent out a press release confirming that Australian developers Nnooo (who developed the rather entertaining escapeVektor on PSVita) have confirmed they are working on a new PS4/PSVita title. The game, which remains under wraps is expected to be unveiled around the middle of the year, but the company is currently hiring new staff for programming and art/animation.

PS4 Preview Watch Dogs is a game which we previewed last year when announced at the 2012 E3 Show, and was confirmed for PS3. At the PS4 announcement in February 2013 Ubisoft confirmed the game was also PS4 bound so we've had a look with new details. This is almost certain to be a cracking game in late 2013 (or whenever Sony's new console launches here).
