    PS3 News
Starbreeze Studios, the company behind The Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness has announced a new downloadable title called Brothers – A Tale Of Two Sons. The game has some gorgeous visuals, as you cans ee in the trailer below, and is due out around Q'2 2013.

    PSVita News
In a recent interview Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has mentioned his surpise at the lack of third party PSVita development support since the system launch. In an interview with Gamasutra he stated that "One thing that was surprising and disappointing to us was the number of third parties to come out after launch". Well I think we can detail the problem sir, perhaps the fact that Apple sell more iPhone 5's in one day then the PSVita sells in eight months. It doesn't take a genius - or perhaps it does!

In some better news for the PSVita publisher eastasiasoft has confirmed that their PS3 exclusive game Rainbow Moon will be coming to the PSVita in 2013. The game, which was released on PS3 through the Store in July this year is certainly one to chew up the hours - Michael has been hooked on the game for weeks.

If you're a FIFA 13 gamer, when you may want to be aware of reports online that the PSVita version of the game is apparently very much based on the FIFA game that launched with the console in February, which was already criticised for being based on FIFA 11. Users aren't pleased, and you'd have to question the need to purchase the game as a result. It must be pointed out this doesn't affect any other games, and we have the PS3 version of the game and it's very impressive indeed. Expect a review of that version soon.

    PS3 News
If you're keen on getting Resident Evil 6 and live in Australia you may want to check out your local game shop as many retailers, including EB Games, have broken the street date for Capcom's latest title. We're already working on our review which we hope to have up in the next week or so, needless to say, early impressions are very positive.

Here's a rather neat trailer from Ubisoft for Assassin's Creed III which details one of the main events that started the revolution. Here's the "Official Boston Tea Party Trailer" for this great looking title.

Ubisoft have also released a trailer for Far Cry 3 called "The Savages". It runs for over 3 minutes and gives a fantastic idea what to expect from the companies open-world shooter. Check it out.

    Blu-Ray News
Twentieth Century Fox have confirmed that Prometheus will be released on October 17 as a 4-disc Collector's Edition which will contain the 2D version of the film, 3D version of the film, DVD and Digital Copy. Extras are highlighted by a commentary by Director/Producer Ridley Scott, Deleted and Alternate Scenes, a documentary called The Furious Gods: Making Prometheus and much more. If 3D isn't your thing a 2-disc Blu-Ray version will also be released with many, but not quite all, the extras. Only 3 weeks to go...

    PS3 News
Electronic Arts have scrapped plans to release NBA Live 13 this October. Apparently in recent days internal reviews of the game haven't shown the game meeting expectations and as such, rather than delay the game into the second half of the NBA season, this year’s game has been scrapped with work continuing on the game for next year (we expect they mean NBA Live 14). This isn't such a surprise seeing as the game was a no-show at E3 2012, the game had never been fully announced as a retail release (recent months pointed to download only) and the game hasn't been seen at other recent shows.

According to rumours doing the rounds Madden NFL 14 may even include referee likenesses - now that's authenticity. Apparently referee's faces have already been scanned. We're taking a guess here, but could this be a "next-gen" feature being prepped? (There's no reason why current-gen couldn't do it too though - but it makes a nice bullet point!)

    PS3 News
Electronic Arts has today announced the release of Mass Effect Trilogy on PS3 (as well as PC and XBox 360). This compilation will include all three games - and for the first time the first Mass Effect will be on Sony's console - with that original game available in the trilogy, or as a standalone downloadable title. That's the fantastic news, the bad news is that the Trilogy hits PC/360 on November 8, with the PS3 version "available at a later date". We'll guess in order for EA to release the original game on PS3 (it was published by Microsoft), EA had to give XBox a period of exclusivity - we hope only 30 days. Still, wow, what fantastic news.

For those of you wondering Tokyo Jungle is out now on the PlayStation Store. This is an amazingly unique title in which you play a variety of animals trying to survive the streets of Tokyo after mankind has been wiped out. Yes, you scavange for food, explore the lands and have to fight other animals. Surprisingly, or perhaps not so surprisingly, the original pitch to the game from Sony's Japan Studio to executives was "It was bad. Initially. It wasn’t received so well at the very beginning." Over time however the game grew and when European audiences reacted so positively to early footage not only was the game given the green light to complete production after a mid-development review, but was also given the go ahead for European, and then American, release. The game is available for just under $20, and a bit cheaper if you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

    Blu-Ray Review
Dark Shadows is in fact the eight time that director Tim Burton and star Johnny Depp have teamed up for a film and this time it's a vampire movie based on a 1960s TV show. As always, Burton presents a visual treat, but how is the film? Here's the Blu-Ray review...

Resident Evil 6, which is due out in a couple of weeks, is Capcom's latest in their long-running Survival Horror franchise. It has been almost 4 years since Resident Evil 5 came out, and with Capcom working on this sequel since then, the final product is almost here. It looks stunning.

    PS3 News
The game has been in Beta for a while now and now Sony Computer Entertainment America President and CEO Jack Tretton has let slip that CCP's Dust 514 would be "coming out next month" - which would mean October. The game is a free to play MMO FPS, that links in with the PC game EVE Online.

    Industry News
Well the Nintendo Wii U, their next-generation console, is only a couple of months from release, and Nintendo have now confirmed the console will be region locked. One of our loves for Sony and the PS3 is that the console isn't region locked - you can import any games from any territory. Let's hope Sony don't follow Nintendo's lead.

    PS3 Review
Warzone: Anomaly was released on PC, Mac and iOS over a year ago now, and it has been a long wait for a PS3 appearance, but Anomaly: Warzone Earth is out now and it's a cracker of a release on PlayStation Store.

    PS3 News
According to an unnamed developer talking to Kotaku (available here), despite the no-show at TGS, The Last Guardian is still in development. First announced in 2009 the game has undergone some development issues with the studios boss, Fumito Ueda, leaving Team ICO (but still working as a consultant), while Sony has confirmed the game has encountered "technical issues". This led to speculation the game was moving to the PS4, however Shuhei Yoshida confirmed the game is still coming to PS3 (what about dual platform release we say!).

Sega have announced that Yakuza 5 will be released in Japan on December 6. As eyt there's no date for America or Europe but I wouldn't hold your breath. While it may come out previous games have taken around a year to be ported.

    PSVita News
As many of you may be aware when the PlayStation Vita launched in Australia the system was not sold through three of the countries biggest retail chains - Target, BIG W and K-Mart. Well if you pick up the latest BIG W catalogue you will now see that the retailer is now selling the PSVita Wi-Fi model in the LittleBigPlanet bundle. Vita hitting mainstream at last?

As you can see from the image above, this is the new PlayStation 3 system - which many had in recent months dubbed the "PS3 Super Slim". Announced today at the Tokyo Game Show the console will be released in 3 different flavours, a 12GB Flash Memory System (available in Europe/Australia), a 250GB System (in Japan and America) and a 500GB system (in Japan, America and Europe/Australia). Other key details announced by Sony are as follows...

Completely redesigning the internal design architecture, the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is reduced by more than half compared to the very first PS3 model with a 60GB HDD, and by 20 % and 25% respectively compared to the current PS3. By adopting a sliding disk cover, the new PS3 continues with the characteristic sleek curved simple body design, which fits various places in the home and enables users to enjoy an array of entertainment content.

The 12GB system will, this coming November, have an optional 250GB Hard Drive which, unlike other PS3 systems will require a proprietory Playstation Hard Drive (no price set for Australia yet). The systems have staggered launch dates but will first hit shelves next week. Below is a table detailing systems, and release dates.

    Tokyo Game Show News
There were several other tidbits from Sony at their Tokyo Game Show conference today. PlayStation Plus will be coming to the PlayStation Vita this November as well as the ability for automatic updates as a result. The other big surprise at TGS was the non-appearance of The Last Guardian yet again. Will the game ever be released? Who knows.

We are awaiting confirmation if this is a short-term or long-term deal.

    Industry News
Well the Australian Classification Board has today released the "New Guidelines for the Classification of Computer Games" (available here) which includes the new R18+ rating which comes into effect on January 1. That's the good news, but the bad news is that the guidelines are quite restrictive and still ban reward based drugs and sex in video games (which means Fallout 3, with realistic drugs, would still be banned). Below are the details for R18+ classification, the actual implementation of which we won't see until next year to see how everything is interpreted...

    Blu-Ray Review
Act of Valour is is a film about the US Navy SEALs and despite a fictional plot, this is made interesting by the use of real SEALs in the film. As a result the action, tactics and even weapons are authentic, and real, and action fans will probably enjoy this film.

DmC Devil May Cry will be a very interesting release in January 2013.
