It's certain to be one of the best Blu-Ray releases of 2012, but unfortunately Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1, has been delayed from August 1 for an unspecified amount of time (JB Hi-Fi is listing September 5). The reason are some audio glitches on some episodes where dialogue comes out the Left and Right channels as well as the Center channel. We've got the set already for review and confirmed the issue ourselves, but needless to say this set is phenomenal. We are expecting a new official date in the coming days.

PS3 Review Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is the latest in Ubisoft's third person tactical shooter. We've taken a little longer to review this game then we expected, but that is, in part, due to the way this game drags you in and doesn't let up. This is a great action title well worth a look - although it's a little more action and a little less strategy then previous games in the franchise. Be warned.

Well here's something which is sure to put the fear into Sony and Microsoft - the launch of a new console. With funding being raised through Kickstarter this is an Android based console selling for $US99 which allows developers to create games without license fees. Called OUYA (means nothing, but quite catchy) the console is based on the Tegra 3 mobile chipset, runs Android and will be download only for games, or programs. The company hoped to sell 22,000-odd consoles via Kickstarter and raise $US950,000 in 30 days - that goal was reached in about 12 hours! Right now, after 3 days and 27 to go the company has raised $US3.87 million and sold around 28,000 consoles already! Yes, we jumped onboard (delivery is expected in March 2013) and you can check it out here.

Getting tired of the current generation? Want next-generation? Well it seems that worldwide technology director Julien Merceron from Square-Enix tends to agree, well at least that Sony and Microsoft have been holding onto this generation "way too long". That's not from a game perspective but from the viewpoint that developers, and gamers, have moved onto smaller bite-sized titles. In an interview with GamesIndustry he stated...
"This generation has been way too long, and I say this because you have a lot of developers that work on a new platform, and perhaps will not succeed, so they will wait for the next generation, and will jump on that platform. You could not do that with this generation though.
So these developers went elsewhere to see if the grass was greener. They found web browsers, they found iOS, they found other things and a lot of them won't come back to the hardware platforms. So you could look at it that thanks to Microsoft and Sony and the length of this generation, it helped the emergence of other platforms and helped them get strong before the next hardware comes out."
Not really console related but Microsoft have announced that Windows 8 will be launching this October. Expect plenty of XBox integration, and support for tablets. Prices are yet to be set.

Well the day has come that Playstation 3 owners never thought they would see coming - a company has region locked a PS3 game. Up until now all PS3 games are region free meaning you can import from any territory to play the game however Atlus has confirmed they are going to region lock Persona 4 Arena. Surely Sony could step in to stop this couldn't they? DO NOT buy this game from another territory - it won't work! In fact, we would go so far as to suggest you don't buy the game all together in protest.
