R.I.P. Keith Warner 14/3/1938 to 28/3/2012
What can I say. I'm absolutely shattered at the moment. Only a week ago I wrote about the loss of my nan which was a terrible event but on the day of her funeral, last Friday, my dad was rushed to hospital with severe stomach pains. It ended up being that the cancer he was diagnosed with in January had taken hold and he passed away peacefully in the early hours of the 28th. Words can't express how I feel, just completely lost and gutted.
Strength has to come from my mother who despite losing her own mum (my nan) and her husband of 40 years (tragically they celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary in the hospital on Sunday) is holding up so well.
Anyway you'll understand the lack of site updates over the coming days as we get through this horrific time.

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has been rushed to hospital after falling ill following an lengthy worldwide promotional tour for Street Fighter X Tekken. Capcom's Japanese blog has stated the following...
"I would like to bring something else to everyone’s attention. Shortly after the Street Fighter X Tekken promotion in Asia, Ono-san’s physical condition rapidly and heavily deteriorated and he had to be taken to the hospital.
Because of his hospital tenure he will not be performing work-related affairs for a while. Ono’s well-being is very important to us, and we wish for his steady recovery.
We wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

R.I.P. Gwen Hoffman 15/11/1923 to 17/3/2012
It's been a pretty hard couple of days here at Futuregamez. On the day my cousin Michael got married in Melbourne, and my wife and I travelled to Melbourne for this wonderful occasion, my nan passed away in a Gold Coast nursing home only hours before the wedding. Fortunately my mum didn't tell me about her passing until the day after the wedding, but needless to say it put a dampner on a wonderful weekend (it was also my cousin's nan so has hit him as he heads off for his Honeymoon today). As such the updates may be a little sluggish over the coming days. Anyway, here's a little about my remarkable "nanny"...
My nan, Geesje (Gwen), had a remarkable life and has been a cornerstone of my family for my entire life. She was born in Holland in 1923 as the second youngest of 11 children and met her future husband, Ernst Hoffman, during the Second World War. As I understand it Ernst deserted the German Army during the war and hid with my nan before marrying in 1945. After having three children (my mum, uncle and auntie) the family migrated to Australia in 1956 and despite not speaking a word of English my grandad, Ernst, insisted they only speak English.
Within 5 years my nan ran the canteen at Niddrie High School, and made it so profitable that when she retired they named a hall she helped fund after her. Eventually she left Melbourne and moved to the Gold Coast where she lived with her husband until his passing in 1993 - only months before we were to move up and join them in this wonderful city. Sadly my nan suffered from dementia in recent years and passed away last Saturday.
Rest in Peace Gwen "nanny" Hoffman.

Marvel have confirmed that after five games, Sega will no longer be developing and publishing titles based on the Marvel brand. That's somewhat surprising, but perhaps not when you see that the five games are among the worst in recent years including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Captain America: Super Soldier (which was easily the best of the five games) and Thor: God of Thunder. Marvel games are still being made by other companies including Spider-man at Activision.
PS3 Review Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a brand new, original, RPG that actually looks and plays very well. Michael has played through this latest game from Electronic Arts and has done up the review. In short, it's an impressive release that should turn into a new franchise. Here's a review if EA's latest.
