    Site News
Just so you're all aware we wont be updating the site between Christmas and New Year's (well, around January 3) unless something major happens. Have a great break.

    Industry News
Gerry Harvey, the owner of Harvey Norman retail chain in Australia, has always fought against online retailers, until now. Today Gerry Harvey has announced the creation of an online website selling games and because it's based overseas it's GST free - so cheap games abound. Check out the new site here.

Start the Party! Save The World is the second game in this franchise which offers another collection of Playstation Move based mini-games. This is a family friendly title which is sure to provide a couple of hours fun, perhaps.

    Personal News
Some sad news today with my family with my very loved uncle, Ian Warner, passing away from cancer this morning. While we haven't see much of each other in recent years as we live in opposite ends of the country, growing up we were very close going to the football together on a very regular basis. It's a hard time for the family as you can imagine. Rest in Peace Ian Warner.

Well here we go again. The Australian Classification Board has slapped a Refused Classification rating on EA's upcoming Syndicate game meaning it can't be sold in Australia. Rather then appeal or alter the game Electronic Arts has decided simply to not release the game and has issued the following statement:

"It's regrettable that government policy in Australia is denying adults the right to play Syndicate. The game will be not be available in Australia despite its enthusiastic response from fans. We were encouraged by the government’s recent agreement to adopt an 18+ age rating for games. However, delays continue to force an arcane censorship on games – cuts that would never be imposed on books or movies. We urge policy makers to take swift action to implement an updated policy that reflects today’s market and gives its millions of adult consumers the right to make their own content choices."

Hideo Kojima has confirmed to CNN that his next game, called Project Ogre will be an open-world styled game unlike his very linear Metal Gear Solid titles. No word yet on platform, release date, or anything else.

In some great news for some smaller developers and publishers, Deep Silver has announced that Dead Island has now sold through 3 million copies. We quite enjoyed the game, probably more then most review sites, but it seems review scores aren't stopping gamers picking up this fun title.

    PSVita News
Some pretty good news for Sony with Media Create estimating a 65% sell-through rate for the PSVita which launched a couple of days ago in Japan. That would put sales at around 325,000 units sold. The most popular games were Everybody's Golf and Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

Medieval Moves is yet another of Sony's many Playstation Move compatable games releasing this Christmas. Fortunately this is one of the better ones in the batch and really a game which Move owners should enjoy.

After Hours Athletes probably isn't at the top of your shopping list compared to other triple-A titles, but if you're after a Playstation Move based bowling, darts or pool game - and in particular the games Hustle Kings, High Velocity Bowling and Top Darts together in one bundle this may suit.

    Personal News
Sorry about the lack of updates over the last couple of days, and they may be a little infrequent over the next week or two as well. Sadly, my uncle - who I was very close to - is critically ill with cancer in Melbourne which meant a visit down there yesterday with my sister. As you can imagine that was an extremely tough day, so my mood and mindset isn't really with the site or games at the moment. Still, I'll update when I can (I have several reviews ready to go online so I'll try to push them out in the next couple of days).

    PS3 News
Sega has announced that Sonic CD will be released next week on the PS3. The game will be released for $US5.00/£3.59/€4.49/AUD$6.25 and include both the original Japanese and US soundtracks as well as the ability to play the game as Sonic’s best friend Tails, unlockable by clearing the game for the first time.

Well there has been a lot of speculation but according to this article Fumito Ueda has left Sony. Fortunately for gamers he is contracted to complete his work on The Last Guardian. Ueda has been with Sony since 1997 and while he has only created two games, they are generally regarded as classics - ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. No word on where he will go after The Last Guardian is complete in 2012 - hopefully!

    PS3 News
Sony has confirmed that the Playstation Network will be down for maintenance this Thursday/Friday for around 10 hours. If you're signed in you can remain signed in however those attempting to jump online may encounter an error message. Our guess it has something to do with the Playstation Vita launch in Japan in a few days.

    PS3 Review
Daytona USA was a game only announced quite recently as a downloadable title. Indeed Sega's classic racing game is available now and with a few tweaks including widescreen HD visuals this is an arcade racing game well worth checking out.

One of the biggest surprises at the Video Game Awards today was the unveiling of The Last Of Us which is a PS3 exclusive title. The is in fact being developed by none other then Naughty Dog, and it looks pretty spectacular. Check out the trailer here...

Another game shown off at the VGA's is Metal Gear Solid Rising, which is now called Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Interestingly the game isn't being developed by Kojima Productions any more, but Platinum Games who developed Bayonetta and Vanquish. It has been confirmed the game runs at 60fps. Just enjoy this slick trailer...

Dancestar Party is sure to sell quite well this Christmas. Sony own the karaoke market with SingStar and now they are after gamers that want to dance with DanceStar party. Michael grooved through the game for this review.

    PS3 News
Last week there were rumours that Team Ico boss Fumito Ueda had left and was no longer working on The Last Guardian however he later tweeted he was still very much working on the project (although he never confirmed he was still employed by Team ICO). Today word has come through that Yoshifusa Hayama, the games Executive Producer, has quit to take up a job at a social network games company in the UK. Let's hope the game lives up to the hype, and Team ICOs previous titles.

    PS3 Review
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is the latest in Ubisoft's very popular, and now long-running franchise. It certainly looks and sounds the part but Michael found something you may want to be aware of before checkout out this (admittedly still very good) game - that being familiarity.

    PS3 News
Sony has announced that a "Brutality Pack" will be released for Resistance 3 tomorrow (in America at least). The pack contains a new co-op enabled survival mode, playable both online and offline, unlocks the sledgehammer in all game modes, a theme, and new Mick Cutler skin. The pack sells for $US3.99 which is pretty decent pricing.

    PS3 Review
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is Bethesda's massive open-world RPG which is available now, and it's one hell of a release. Not without some minor niggles this is still an essential purchase for any fans of the genre. Here's Michael's review of this epic RPG.

Some interesting stats from Quantic Dream about their game Heavy Rain. Apparently 74% of gamers have completed the game, with 33% of gamers managing to keep all the characters alive. while 65% of people rescued Ethan's son Shaun.

Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski has confirmed they will be unveiling a new game at the Spike VGA's this weekend. No details about the game have been announced other then it's in development at Epic's North Carolina HQ.

Now this is probably one of the bizarre, unexpected and probably cool game announcements for some time. THQ has announced that they will publish a new RPG from Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas) which is South Park: The Game. As stated in the press release "South Park: The Game is an epic role-playing adventure that will allow the user to befriend Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny and explore the quiet little mountain town like never before." The game is due out in late 2012 and is being written by Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Rayman: Origins. We can say this up front. This is one of the greatest platform games of all time. It looks fantastic thanks to the 1080p visuals, plays superbly and really is a must-have title. This game supports up to 4-players simultaneously too so it's perfect for the entire family!
