Capcom has confirmed that Asura's Wrath will be released on PS3 in America on February 21, 2012. We expect the European and Australian release to be around that date as well but await confirmation.
Another Capcom game dated is Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City which has now been scheduled for release in America on March 20. Again, we're awaiting the Australian confirmed date. Capcom has scaled down expectations for the game from 2.5 million sales to an anticipated 2 million.
PS3 Preview The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most anticipated games of this year, and certainly the biggest RPG. Bethesda are putting the finishing touches on this game due in a couple of weeks and we take a look so you know what to expect.

One of the most contraversial games of 2011 has officially hit the shelves. Sega's House of the Dead: Overkill was originally given a Refused Classification rating by the Classification Board before Sega were successful in their appeal. The Playstation Move light gun game has been in our PS3 for a little while now, and quite entertaining indeed.

We thought we'd update with a couple of impressive prices at our Affiliate Play-Asia at the moment. The online retailer currently has the Asian version (in English) of Battlefield 3 for only $AU56.87/$US58.90 plus shipping. To help us fund Futuregamez purchase it through this link.
If EA's title isn't your thing then perhaps you'd be more interested in pre-ordering Modern Warfare 3 from Activision. Play-Asia currently have the Asian version of that game (again, in English) for $AU53.01/$US54.90 plus shipping. Again, you can help fund Futuregamez by purchasing it through this link.
So Electronic Arts have clarified the missing Battlefield 1943 situation. As the wonderful rep from EA stated "Thanks to an exclusive Sony partnership, PS3 players will have one-week early access to Battlefield 3 Expansion Packs, starting with the post-launch Back to Karkand digital expansion pack. Back to Karkand is included in the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition at no extra charge."
Sega have confirmed that while Yakuza 5 will return to Kamurocho the game will also feature a second city to explore which may be based on either Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka or Fukuoka. No word yet on returning, or the number of, playable characters. There's still no release date for the game so don't expect it soon.
According to a rumour published in the latest Xbox World magazine Avalanche Studios are currently working on Just Cause 3 for a 2012 release. No other details but a PS3 release is almost certain.
PS3 Review Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is KOnami's latest release in their long-running soccer franchise. After a few average years at the start of this generation the franchise is finally hitting it's stride again. Michael gives us his full verdict on this latest release. In short, he liked it quite a bit.
Not really game related, but Sony has confirmed they have bought out Ericsson's remaining 50% share of the company for $US1.45 billion dollars. That gives Sony full control over the Playstation certified Xperia Play phone.

So we just got our copy of Battlefield 3 and it is indeed a wonderful game - phenomenal even. Now we got a review disc which means no manual, and no packaging. But one thing that seems to be AWOL from all reports (and from our review version) is Battlefield 1943? WHAT THE FUCK! Yes, that fantastic free bonus for PS3 owners that was given bells and whistles coverage by Sony and EA at the E3 Show this year isn't even on the disc. In compensation EA will make the BF3 DLC on PS3 exclusively available early (remember EA had already announced the PS3 DLC would be a week earlier then other systems anyway). Very, very disappointing. At least EA, and Sony too, could, and should, have been up front about this weeks ago. Electronic Arts have Tweeted the following:
In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers.
The other big news for today is that Rockstar have updated their website (viewable here) with a logo for a new upcoming game. Grand Theft Auto V. Huzzah! More importantly a trailer will be released on November 2.
PS3 Review God of War Collection 2 is, unsurprisingly, the second PS3 compilation of earlier titles in the franchise. This time we have the two PSP games given a big upgrade including HD Visuals, Trophy Support and much more.
October 24, 2011
WB Games Australia has confirmed that Lord of the Rings: War in the North has been delayed in Australia from November 2 to November 16. No reason for the delay, but getting away from several other major releases that week may be a part contributer.
With Battlefield 3 only a couple of days away now some people grabbing the game early (reviewers we suspect although we don't have ours yet) have discovered a card in the package with a Medal of Honor logo. Seems there's another game in the works - not that there was ever any doubt really.

According to reports the Closed Beta for Starhawk will be commencing next month. This Beta will be limited to developers and select people invited while a more public Open Beta should commence a little further down the line.
PS3 Review Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is a title which many PS3 games have been keen to get their hands on. Indeed we've always loved Namco's flight sim here and this latest outing is actually the first on the PS3. We tell you if it still manages to impress after a 5 year Sony hiatus.

Sony have today announced the release date and price for the PSVita. The system will hit Australian and New Zealand shelves on February 23 (the day before my birthday conveniently too!) for $349.95 or $449.95 which is a little higher then we hoped (the US models are $249.95 and $299.95 for 3G). No need me babble on, but here's the details...

Well we went to the EB Expo today, and we had quite a bit of fun at the event. All the big publishers were there including Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA, Activision, WB Games, Mindscape/Konami, 2K Games, Ubisoft, Sega and a few more. There were some positives and negatives to the event, but for a first off it was very impressive overall. Oh, in 2012 the event will be in Sydney - so gamers down south can rejoyce over that news!
Looking at the positives it was great to see a wide variety of games on display, many of which aren't due until well into 2012. It must be said the live arena, which was only meters away from the expo floor was superb, with some great demonstrations from publishers including EA (which was the keynote from Peter Moore on Saturday - hence we missed it), THQ, Sony, Bethesda, Ubisoft among others.
There were some negatives though. The lineups to play some of the games were ridiculously long. Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Uncharted 3 often had 2 hours lines to get about 5-10 minutes of game time. Still that's where the demand was. Another negative was the lack of food venus - we ended up bailing over the highway to Broadbeach - while there were a couple of games that weren't really shown despite being listed. Another disappointment is that while Sony did a on-stage demo of Vita which showed off LittleBigPlanet (which rocked) and Reality Fighters the showcase strangely lacked any other games even in trailer form, and while we were hoping to see the hardware on the show floor up close - even behind lock and key - we were out of luck. Finally we were a little annoyed with some publishers putting their games behind closed doors so you had to line up to see them - Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City and Halo were those games. At least EA with Battlefield 3 and Sony with Uncharted 3 allowed you to stand and watch other people play the game.
Anyway all-in-all it was a fun event, fairly well organized (although audible announcements about special events starting would be welcome) plenty of things to see and do, but I certainly wouldn't want to see a boost in visitors next year without a major boost in playable games/setups. Still, I'll be back next year - even with a trip to Sydney required!

A reminder to all our Aussie readers that the EB Expo takes place on the Gold Coast this weekend with two sessions on Saturday, and one on Sunday. There's some awesome stuff that will be playable or shown at the event including Modern Warfare 3, Batman: Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Lollipop Chainsaw, The Darkness II, Skyrim, Move Fitness, Mass Effect 3, Soul Calibur V, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Saints Row The Third, Rayman Origins and Sonic Generations to name just some. It's going to be awesome, but tickets are selling fast so get in quick by booking here or, if there are tickets left, paying at the door.

PS3 Review NHL 12 is a game we were pretty keen to get our hands on. Indeed it has been a few years since we reviewed a NHL title from Electronic Arts, but Michael has taken this latest game for a spin. It's an impressive game well worth a look.

Sony have released a major update for Gran Turismo 5 which includes in-car viewpoints for standard model cars, the ability to save during endurance races, 11 new Nascar vehicles, and preps the game for new DLC due soon among other things. Konami have confirmed to website Beefjack, that Silent Hill: Downpour has been delayed from November to Q'2 2012.
PS3 Review From Dust is the latest game to be released by Ubisoft, and it's only available through the Playstation Store (no retail release). Still this cheap strategy game certainly has some impressive aspects. Fans of the genre would do well to check out this game, or at least our review.

Blu-Ray Review Boogie 3D isn't a film which we were familiar with prior to receiving the Blu-Ray for review, but this Argetinian animated film is a violent, bloody, but entertaining film. Rated R18+ this isn't for kids, but is worth a look.

This is, we think, simply the best video game advertisment ever. 'Nuff said. Check out the clip below.
PS3 Preview Need for Speed: The Run is the latest in EA's long-running racing franchise, and is back for yet another year (actually it's the second title this year!). Title latest game, which uses DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, looks like pushing the series further then ever. Here's a preview of the game...

Treyarch have confirmed that they are working on a new version of Call of Duty for "a new console". Given they release last years Call of Duty: Black Ops last year the new game will likely be released in November 2012. PS Vita? Wii U? They both seem possible with our money on Sony's handheld given the dual analogue sticks.
We don't usually cover XBox stuff here, but XBox World is reporting that several games are already in development for XBox 720 (or whatever it's called). The game include Alan Wake 2 which will likely be an exclusive, but Saints Row 4 is also mentioned, and we're guessing it may also appear on Sony's next console as well. We can hope...
PS3 Review Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is, quite unsurprisingly, set in the Warhammer universe. Indeed this latest action game, developed by Relic, and published by THQ is a decent effort with some impressive aspects. Check out our review of the full game now.

Blu-Ray Review Thirteen probably isn't a movie many of you would have heard of as it was extremely limted in theatrical release. But what a cast... Sam Riley, Jason Statham, Ray Winstone, Mickey Rourke, Alexander Skarsgard, and 50 Cent. This is a unique film probably worth a rental. A review...

According to reports Sony will limit the downloadable game size to 20MB on the Playstation Vita when using 3G. This is the same as Apple limits the iPhones to when downloading through 3G as well. Of couse, this could change in future, and doesn't mean games are capped at that size as many, if not most, games will be much larger then this, but you will need to connect to Wi-Fi to download.

PS3 Review Dead Island is a melee based zombie action game set in a large open world environment. Indeed, there is plenty to like about this game from developers Techland, but also some annoyances. Still the game is worth a look.
