    PS3 News
Some great news which missed our radar a couple of days ago with QV Software confirming that they will distribute Catherine here in Australia sometime during 2011. The game has been a massive success overseas, but is a little unique, so it's one we're very keen to check out.

    Blu-Ray Review
Battle: Los Angeles is probably best described as a mixture of Black Hawk Down, District 9 and Independence Day. This result is this action/sci-fi movie that action gamers (think fans of the Resistance video games) should enjoy.

    PS3 News
While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is sure to be one of the biggest games of the year, in terms of game length and storyline, Bethesda have confirmed the game will fit onto a single DVD for the XBox 360. Of course the PS3 version may have improved visuals and audio which take up more space but it's somewhat surprising. In other news the developers have confirmed that weapons and armour don't degrade over time or with use. Finally Microsoft have confirmed they have DLC exclusivity for 30 days on any content released. The game is due out on 11/11/11.

There's nothing like last minute notice, well perhaps 2 months notice with Amazon UK now listing Silent Hill: Downpour for release on November 4 in the UK. We expect an official announcement from Konami any day now.

    PS3 Preview
Dead Island is due out in just over a week so we thought we better take a last minute look at this great looking zombie title. Hopefully the gameplay matches the promises. Take a look...

    PS3 Review
Sega Rally Online Arcade has been available on the Playstation Store for a couple of weeks now this downloadable racing title will offer fans of the franchise the opportunity to relive Sega's classic arcade game, with online gameplay!

August 22, 2011

One of my most anticipated games prior to Christmas has to be Rayman Origins. I loved the original games many years ago and this 2D platformer looks insane. Ubisoft have released their Gamescom trailer which gives an idea of the brilliant artwork so check it out here...

    Blu-Ray Review
Hop is the latest movie from Universal. Aimed at children this movie tells the a story about a young Easter Bunny, and his desire to quit the family business. Youngsters will love this while the transfer is pretty nice.

    PSP News
Sony recently announced the new, cheap PSP-E1000 model due out by the end of the year, and it appears there are some technical details getting out. First of all the unit now only has one speaker, although stereo sound will still be available through the headphone jack. The unit has no Wi-Fi, and the weight has bumped up to 223g. It has been confirmed the UMD drive is present.

    Gamescom News
Plenty of news today as it's Gamescom over in Germany. Read on...

    PS3 Price Cut
The big news today is that Sony have officially dropped the price of the Playstation 3. In Australia this means a price reduction from $AU499 to $AU349 which takes effect on August 22. Europe will see the system for €249 RRP, New Zealand NZD$479.95 (RRP), America to $US249 (which still makes the Australian price a bit high given we're now worth more then the American dollar) and Japan to 24,980 yen. Good times, and massive sales are sure to follow...

    PSP Price Cut/New Model
That wasn't all of the price cut new either with Sony announcing a new PSP model (PSP-E1000) will be released this November. The price is an ultra-low $US99/£99/€99/$AU139/$NZ179. The new model will be a charcoal black in colour and will "allow access to the entire PSP catalogue of games" which indicates the unit will retain the UMD drive (given not all games are available digitally). The unit does, however, drop Wi-Fi but will allow you to buy games from the store via Media Go.

Two new PSVita games were announced from Sony including Resistance: Buring Skies and Escape Plan. Ubisoft confirmed their launch line-up will include Rayman Origins, Assassin's Creed (but no mention of which verson) and Lumines (huzzah! We loved the original PSP games).

    PS Vita News
Unfortunately there wasn't any announcement of a PSVita release date or price for Europe which disappointed. On a brighter note Sony confirmed the unit will include 512MB RAM, and not the halved 256MB as rumoured some months ago. Furthermore the portable include 128MB of video RAM as well.

Social Networking is all the rage these days and Sony did confirm that the PSVita will have dedicated Apps available for Facebook, Twitter, foursquare and Skype.

    Industry News
Definately the biggest news over the last week has been the restructuring of THQ's internal studios with a reduction of development on licensed kids titles and movie based entertainment properties. Unfortunately, the company announced the closure of two studios in Australia, and the elimination of a development team at the company’s Phoenix location. The company is maintaining its Quality Assurance team in Phoenix. Approximately 200 staff will lose their jobs as a result, although they are able to apply for positions within the company at other studios.

    PS3 News
Well we're back after a cruise up the Queensland coast. Unfortunately as you may have noticed we didn't manage to update the website as I'd hope. In part this was due to a lack of internet connectivity, and in part due to an excessively good time and busy schedule. After a quiet day walking around Airlie Beach, at Cairns we did the Skyrail and Karanda Scenic Rail Train ride (both of which we highly recommend) and then in Port Douglas a cruise through the mangroves looking at the crocodiles followed by a motorbike ride around the area. Anyway good times, but I'm back so will start catching up tomorrow.

While the PS3 version isn't out as yet, that version "Will be available soon".

While Square-Enix has pegged a January 2012 release date for Final Fantasy XIII-2 in America, the company has today confirmed that the European date is only slated for "early 2012". Seems we may be waiting a few extra months.

    PS3 Review
Duke Nukem Forever sees the return of one of the most loved video game characters of all time. After a 14 year development period the game is finally out and many expected the greatest thing ever. Sadly this game is very average indeed.

    Site News
We're heading off for a few days so the site updates will be sporadic at best depending on our net connections. If it doesn't go to plan - and often it doesn't we'll be back towards the end of next week (around the 12th).

    PS3 News
Well here's some good news for the day... While Activision canned development on True Crime: Hong Kong some time ago, Square-Enix has now picked up the title, with United Front Games continuing development (Square-Enix are looking at ramping up the development team after it was cut back). While the game will be released it will, however, be released under another name as Activision have retained the franchise name. Still, it was shaping up well so will be interesting to see what the final product is like when released, whenever that may be.

According to rumours doing the rounds today Borderlands 2 is currently in development. According to Eurogamer the game is due for release next year. It's not a surprising move as the original Borderlands was well received, and sold very well.

    PS3 Review
MX Vs ATV Alive is the latest release in the long running racing franchise from THQ. It's a decent racing game, but lacks in some game modes and polish. Still, released at a cheaper price it may find some fans... perhaps.
