Some great news which missed our radar a couple of days ago with QV Software confirming that they will distribute Catherine here in Australia sometime during 2011. The game has been a massive success overseas, but is a little unique, so it's one we're very keen to check out.
Blu-Ray Review Battle: Los Angeles is probably best described as a mixture of Black Hawk Down, District 9 and Independence Day. This result is this action/sci-fi movie that action gamers (think fans of the Resistance video games) should enjoy.

While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is sure to be one of the biggest games of the year, in terms of game length and storyline, Bethesda have confirmed the game will fit onto a single DVD for the XBox 360. Of course the PS3 version may have improved visuals and audio which take up more space but it's somewhat surprising. In other news the developers have confirmed that weapons and armour don't degrade over time or with use. Finally Microsoft have confirmed they have DLC exclusivity for 30 days on any content released. The game is due out on 11/11/11.

The big news today is that Sony have officially dropped the price of the Playstation 3. In Australia this means a price reduction from $AU499 to $AU349 which takes effect on August 22. Europe will see the system for €249 RRP, New Zealand NZD$479.95 (RRP), America to $US249 (which still makes the Australian price a bit high given we're now worth more then the American dollar) and Japan to 24,980 yen. PSP Price Cut/New Model
That wasn't all of the price cut new either with Sony announcing a new PSP model (PSP-E1000) will be released this November. The price is an ultra-low $US99/£99/€99/$AU139/$NZ179. The new model will be a charcoal black in colour and will "allow access to the entire PSP catalogue of games" which indicates the unit will retain the UMD drive (given not all games are available digitally). The unit does, however, drop Wi-Fi but will allow you to buy games from the store via Media Go.

Unfortunately, the company announced the closure of two studios in Australia, and the elimination of a development team at the company’s Phoenix location. The company is maintaining its Quality Assurance team in Phoenix. Approximately 200 staff will lose their jobs as a result, although they are able to apply for positions within the company at other studios.

Well we're back after a cruise up the Queensland coast. Unfortunately as you may have noticed we didn't manage to update the website as I'd hope. In part this was due to a lack of internet connectivity, and in part due to an excessively good time and busy schedule. After a quiet day walking around Airlie Beach, at Cairns we did the Skyrail and Karanda Scenic Rail Train ride (both of which we highly recommend) and then in Port Douglas a cruise through the mangroves looking at the crocodiles followed by a motorbike ride around the area. Anyway good times, but I'm back so will start catching up tomorrow.

Well here's some good news for the day... While Activision canned development on True Crime: Hong Kong some time ago, Square-Enix has now picked up the title, with United Front Games continuing development (Square-Enix are looking at ramping up the development team after it was cut back). While the game will be released it will, however, be released under another name as Activision have retained the franchise name. Still, it was shaping up well so will be interesting to see what the final product is like when released, whenever that may be.
