    PS3 Review
Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 is a game which we reviewed a little while ago now, but for the life of us can't find that we linked the review on the news page. Anyway here it is so if you missed out on seeing this review a few weeks ago, here it is. This game is highly recommended.

    Christmas Wishes
Well it's that time of year again to take a bit of a break here at Futuregamez and with some terrible news for my family over the last week it's going to be a hard Christmas I feel. Needless to say the weather here in Australia is insanely out of season - I don't think the Gold Coast has had more then one or two days hitting 30 degrees as yet and we've got floods all over Queensland. Still, I would prefer this cooler wet weather over searing heat.

Anyway we here at Futuregamez want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. This extends to all the publishers and developers that assist us throughout the year, the reviewers that work with me on the site, and of course the readers who keep the site ticking, and keep us going.

We'll be taking a bit of a break over this Christmas/New Years period as family has to come first at times, but we expect to be back around New Years with the Game of the Year Awards. We'll also report any major breaking news.

    PS3 Review
Gran Turismo 5 is one of the most anticipated games of all time and with over five years since the last major release in the franchise Sony have high hopes this can shift plenty of PS3 units. We've been playing the game extensively and give you our full impressions. Is it the must-have racer Sony are hoping for? Read on...

    PS3 Review
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the third outing for the Assassin's Creed franchise on the PS3 and as well as fixing many issues the developers have added in online gameplay as well! Michael has played through, and very much enjoyed, this title and brings you his review.

    Blu-Ray Review
Salt has just been released on Blu-Ray only days before Christmas, but that's a good thing as it's worth considering. Angelina Jolie is back in this all-new action spy movie from Australian director Phillip Noyce. A mixture of Borne and Bond this really is an impressive movie.

    PS3 News
Polyphony Digital have today launched patch 1.05 for Gran Turismo 5 which weighs in at a whopping 608MB. It's not just bug fixes though as the patch adds in a swag of new content including the ability to score experience in online races, new "Seasonal Events" to enter, an Online Dealership, Driving Distances and Wins in Online Races count, Improved Rewards (until the end of January 2011), Save Data Backup, Personal BGM, and more.

According to reports DC Univers Online will no launch in January 2011, not March 2011 as previously rumoured. Indeed some Australian retailers are listing the site as January 13, 2011.

    Blu-Ray Review
Killers wasn't a movie we were honestly looking forward to and I'll say it up front. This romantic comedy/action movie isn't very good and is best of left alone. Only worth a look if you're a mad Heigl or Kutcher fan.

    PS3 News
Activision has confirmed that the first DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released on February 1, 2011 - for XBox 360 at 1200MS points (whatever the hell that translates to - is it really too hard to use real currency Microsoft?). The DLC will be called 'First Strike' and includes four new regular maps and one new zombie arena. Sadly PS3 owners won't receive the DLC until later in the year.

    PSP/PSP2 News
According to the latest Game Informer magazine there is a possibility that an Uncharted spin-off title will be released on Sony's upcoming portable platform. Of course there's no confirmation from Sony or Naughty Dog on the possibility as yet.

Game Australia is currently listing LittleBigPlanet 2 for release on the PSP in 2011 (check it here). Who knows if it's an unannounced surprise, or a mistake. We think the former though...

    Blu-Ray Review
Predators is the first "real" follow-up to the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic action movie Predator. With an all-new cast and some of the worlds most feared killers now on the Predator's planet it's a fight for survival, but now the humans are the hunted, not the hunter. Ultimately this is a pretty good movie.

    PS3 News
Konami has confirmed that PES 2011 will be getting an update on December 21st. The update adds plenty of tweaks to Defender AI, difficulty level, improves cursor switching, turning off player names, improved shooting and improved crowd chants. Soccer fans rejoyce...

Following an outcry from gamers Atlus in America has confirmed they will keep the servers for Demons's Souls online until September 2011. A previous announcement pointed to a March 2011 shutdown for the servers.

    Blu-Ray Review
The Expendables is Sylvester Stallone's latest action movie and he's not alone this time bringing along plenty of action stars for the ride. Expect to see Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts and Steve Austin in this film, as well as a few cameos. In short, if you like action movies, add this to your Christmas list.

    PS3 News
Looking forward to Mass Effect 2 on PS3? Of course you are and it looks like PS3 owners will have the best version of the game. Not only will it include all the patches and DLC, but will actually run on the Mass Effect 3 engine giving it a visual boost too! The game is due out in January.

    Blu-Ray Review
The Karate Kid (2010) is a remake of the 1984 classic. The trailers for this latest release starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith were pretty horrible, no, absolutely horrible, but this movie actually stands up very well indeed and is worth checking out. A Blu-Ray review...

    PS3 News
Following the trailer unveiling of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception the game has been shown off on Jimm Fallon's show in America, with some decent gameplay. Check it out, and enjoy...

It was never officially confirmed last week however The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will indeed be coming to PS3. What's more since the unveiling at the VGA's it has been confirmed that the game will use an all-new graphics and gameplay engine.

Insomniac games' James Stevenson has confirmed that Resistance 3 is now playable from start to finish, although there is still have "a lot of polishing to go". For a game 8 months out from release that's impressive although Move and 3D support are still being decided upon. The game is out in America, and we hope Australia, on September 6, 2011.

    PS3 News
As rumoured for a while it was announced at this years VGA's that Kratos from God of War will be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat due next year. Indeed we couldn't really think of a more suitable character actually...

Another game announced at the VGA's yesterday was Prototype 2. Don't hold your breath though as the game, being developed at Radical, isn't due until 2012.

    Blu-Ray Review
Toy Story 3 could have been one of the disappointments of the year, but it wasn't. Pixar have weaved their ultimate magic trick and kept their oldest franchise alive with one of the best movies of the year. It's out now on Blu-Ray so we checked it out.

    Blu-Ray Review
Underbelly: The Golden Mile is the most recent in the Underbelly Series and this time focuses on the corrupt police in Sydney's seedy Kings Cross during the 1990's which led to the Wood Royal Commission.

December 8, 2010

    Blu-Ray Review
Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities was the second in Channel Nine's very successful series'. This time the focus was on Terry Clark, played by Matthew Newton, and his drug running from Asia with Bob Trimbole in the late 1970's and 1980's. A great series on Blu-Ray now.

    PS3 News
As you would have noticed today upon booting your PS3 Sony has released Firmware 3.55 for the system. This new Firmware does nothing as far as we know except fixing some security issues (we'll guess stoping the system hack). If anything else is included we'll let you know.

Gran Turismo 5 is selling like hotcakes, and our review is coming soon, but today saw the release of 1.03 patch which adds in mechanical damage to the game which can be turned off, light or heavy while racing online. The patch weighs in at 150MB.

Another big game which is about to be patched is Call of Duty: Black Ops. Treyarch have submitted the patch for testing with Sony before going live and it promises to fix a lot of the niggles such as disconnections and cheats as well as making some balancing tweaks. Expect the patch in the coming weeks.

    PS3 Review
International Cricket 2010 is a game which we know a lot of Australian's have been waiting for. Indeed it's going to offer a lot more fun then the Ashes Test series by the looks of it and after playing the game we really enjoyed what we saw despite some minor issues. One which cricket fans should check out...

    Blu-Ray Review
Cube & Cypher Double Pack actually sees two movies bundled together, and that's not a bad thing as both these movies are fairly decent low-budget horror/sci-fi flicks. Here's Luke's review.

    PS3 News
Sorry about the lack of updates over the last couple of days - our PC here got malware infected, and it's a damn chore to reinstall everything from scratch... Anyway all back now...

    PS3 News
As you know we've been reporting about some PlayTV faults since version 2.01 was released recently - in particular if you set a program recording to start early or end late the recording won't work. Anyway we've been in touch with Sony and they've responded with the following, somewhat positive, comment:

We are aware that since the latest PlayTV update, certain issues have arisen. Please rest assured that we are working to fix these and hope to have a solution very shortly.

Polyphony Digital have confirmed that a patch will be released in the next few weeks which will incorporate mechanical damage to cars in Gran Turismo 5.

    Blu-Ray Review
The Other Man is a film starring Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, and Antonio Banderas. While this film was released around the gobe in 2008, it never hit Australian cinemas. We've checked out the Blu-Ray disc which has just hit our shores...
