Fire up your PS3 today and you'll notice there's a new Firmware update - 3.41. All that we've seen so far is a new second which will (at the end of July or so) give you other games "You May Also Like" when looking in the store. We're sure there's more tucked away in the background to be detailed as people discover them, or perhaps some extra 3D trickery which is all the rage on the PS3 of late.
Blu-Ray Review Daybreakers is a movie which I know quite a few of you have asked or spoken to me about. Vampire movies are all the rage these days, primarily due to the Twilight phenomenon, and this 2010 movie with Sam Neill, Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe is a decent release on Blu-Ray worth checking out.

Yesterday we told you about Street Fighter X Tekken which was a massive announcement, but that is only half the story. The difference is that Namco's game will be in a similar 3D style to Tekken titles, whereas Capcom's title is like their Street Fighter IV game. A release date is now rumoured for Capcom's title - 2012. Don't hold your breath.

Some disappointing news today with AFA Interactive confirming they have canned the release of Trinity Universe here in Australia. No reason has been given, and given the niche, limited market, nature of the title we'd be surprised if it turns up elsewhere. Time to import guys...
We thought we'd leave you with something pretty cool today, that being a live performance of Jose Gonzalez with an acoustic rendetion of "Far Away", the song which plays when you get to Mexico in Rockstars awesome game Red Dead Redemption. Also from Electronic Arts today is the announcement of Fight Night Champion which will be released on the PS3 sometime in 2011. The game is rumoured to include 60-65 boxers but nothing else is known. According to industry reports Electronic Arts has decided to sell their stake in Ubisoft. The company currently owns 14.8% of the French developer and publisher. While the movie is a brilliant, must-watch experience this Blu-Ray doesn't provide the best transfer ever seen. Having said that fans may want to check this release out.

Sony has confirmed their upcoming plans for the PS3, and in particular the 3D compatability. We know the system has been patched with 3D Game compatability has of a couple of weeks ago and Sony has now confirmed that 3D Blu-Ray compatability will be added in September 2010. New though is the news that a further update will allow 3D pictures from a still or camcorder viewable later in the year, as well as 3D Videos from Youtube within the next year or so. Plenty to look forward too. Ohh, and the brilliant PlayTV will also be 3D compatable, however we are unsure if this refers to the mysterious 'PlayTV 2' which was mentioned, but never detailed, some months ago.
Oh Microsoft, we just can't help laughing sometimes. When the PS3 launched with the SixAxis it didn't include rumble technology and Microsoft played it up shouting it was integral to gameplay. Now that is reversed with the Microsoft Kinect motion control using a camera only. Kudo Tsunoda, general manager of Microsoft Game Studios, had the following to say: "The overwhelming thing we've discovered is that rumble is such a rudimentary form of haptic feedback. It's not like a little rumble in your palm is your whole way of interacting with the world – it's not like, oh, I stubbed my toe and I get a little rumble in my palm. It's almost laughable the way people hold on to rumble as the Holy Grail of haptic feedback. We've gone so far past anything that can be done with rumble, or that kind of restrictive thing you have to hold. It's been creatively liberating to work on this stuff."
PS3 Preview Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. Sonic is back, and when we say back we mean BACK. Forget all the recent 3D Sonic crap, this latest game is returning to the series' 2D roots. It looks spectacular too.

Sony studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that the company will not be selling the Playstation Move controller for a loss. That's good news for the company who has only in the last month confirmed that they are no longer making a loss on the Playstation 3. That's right. Sony were losing money on every PS3 sold in the world up until only a few months ago. Let's hope Sony pour some of these profits into even more great titles. Playstation Move, and a tonne of compatable games, will launch in mid-September.
Blu-Ray Review Red Sonja was a starring movie for Brigitte Nielson, but in reality Arnold Schwarzenegger was the main drawcard. In this film he played a Conan-like role in everything but name but even he can't save this pretty poor movie. Still the transfer is above par and fans may want to have a look.

At the recent E3 show Ubisoft announced, via some dancers and music, that they were creating a Michael Jackson game. So why was Final Fantasy XIV delayed by six months from the September release for the PC version? Well according to producer Hiromichi Tanaka Square-Enix have run into "technical problems" with the PS3 version - but he doesn't elaborate on that. Could it be the paid model? Could it be the PSN? Could it be the PS3 hardware itself? Who knows. At this stage they are aiming for March 2011, but hoping to still release earlier then that.
Bioware has confirmed that Dragon Age 2 will be releasing in March 2011. The game will again be published by Electronic Arts.

Not to be out we've also done a pretty hefty update to our PS3 Preview & Release Schedule Page with plenty of titles added since announcements at the E3 Show recently. There will be a lot of changes in the coming weeks, but for now, this is as accurate as it gets.
Blu-Ray Review Kundun isn't a movie a lot of you would have heard of. Directed by Martin Scorsese this film was essentially dropped by the distributer Disney following complaints from China. Why? The film is about Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dali Lama. It's a brilliant film given a very good Blu-Ray release.
July 4, 2010
Quantic Dream's David Cage has confirmed that they will no longer be working on DLC for Heavy Rain. The development team is currently implementing Playstation Move functionality into the game which will be available via a patch for current owners. David Cage has stated he want to move onto "next generation of technology and future concepts". Does this mean new hardware, or Playstation Move game? Time will tell, but we suspect it's the former. PSP2, PS4? It's anyone's guess.
PS3 Preview Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sees one of the most loved game franchises of all time being rebooted by developers MercurySteam, with the help of none of then Hideo Kojima. It certainly looks impressive so here's a preview for you to check out.

Thought we'd let you know that Play-Asia have a pretty damn good special going for Disney/Pixar's Up on PS3. You can buy the Asian version (in English and playable on all PS3's) for the next couple of days for only $AU16.74 (around $US13). If interested click on this link to ensure Futuregamez gets a little commission too - it really helps us. It's not a terrible game either, certainly great for the kiddies.
Blu-Ray Review Raw Deal is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's earlier movies, but has just been released on Blu-Ray thanks to Universal. While it's not a spectacular release fans of the movie may do well to check this release out.

Well this news is certain to make plenty of PS3 owners quite upset and dismayed. Square-Enix have confirmed that their MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will be released on PC on September 22nd in Europe. The game will cost £8.99/€12.99 per month to play. What's so bad about that news? Well sadly the PS3 version has been postponed until March 2011 - a full six months after the PC version. Why? No explanation given.
Sega has stated that they are "thinking" about porting some of their Sega Saturn games to the PS3 and XBox 360. Good news for fans of the console, but given the number of classic Dreamcast games that they could port we'd rather they concentrate on them for the short term.
PS3 Preview Twisted Metal was Sony's big surprise at the recent E3 show with David Jaffe's studio, Eat Sleep Play, confirmed to be handling development of this game. While the in-game visuals may not be spectacular, this game is sure to be a winner with a major focus on online multiplayer. Here's a very early look.
