PS3 Review Pure Football was released in time for the World Cup running at the moment in South Africa, but isn't related to the event. Indeed, Pure Football is an arcade styled 5-on-5 soccer title from Ubisoft. We've played the game, and give you our thoughts.

Those of you turning on your PS3 today and you will see Firmware 3.40 is now available. This update primarily adds support for the Playstation Plus network abilities, but also some other tweaks such as being able to export video and photos to sharing sites, and also the ability to see a friends Trophy rank simply by highlighting their name.
Yep, we really still do cover PSP news here on Futuregamez, it's just so non-existant for periods of time that we have nothing to report - even the recent E3 show lacked PSP coverage in their near 2-hour conference. Anyway fire up your PSP today and you'll see an update to Firmware 6.30 which, primarily, adds support for Playstation Plus, as well as the ability to group games.

Well we've had word from retail sources today that the Playstation Move controller will have a retail price in Australia of $AU69.95, and the Sub Controller $AU49.95. There will also be a bundle which will include the Move controller, Playstation Eye and a demo disc for $99.95. What's on the demo disc? Well at this stage it is penned to have the following demos; Sports Champions, Start the Party!, The Shoot, EyePet: Move Edition, TV Superstars, echochrome II, Tumble, and Beat Sketchers. Strangely the PGA Tour 11 demo announced to be on the disc by EA at the Sony E3 Conference isn't listed, perhaps it's for America only?
Capcom has announced that Dead Rising 2 has been shifted back a month for Europe and Australia and will now be released on October 1, 2010.
Blu-Ray Review Old Dogs sees John Travolta and Robin Williams teaming up in this, ultimately, very disappointing comedy. It's family friendly, but is as by the numbers and generic as a movie can get. We look at the Blu-Ray which has a solid transfer, but little else redeeming.

PS3 Review Dead To Rights: Retribution is the latest film directed by Sam Mendes. Away We Go is a heartwarming tale of a couple travelling across the United States to find the perfect home for their unborn child. Here's our full Blu-Ray review...

PS3 News Pixeljunk Racers 2nd Lap has been given a release date of July 1st, for Japan. This is the second game in the franchise and one which racing fans should get a bit of fun from given the 500 yen price (under $AU10). No word on an Australian date yet.
According to reports Guitar Hero Queen is being developed for release in 2011. This has been backed by statements from Queen guitarist Brian May.
Blu-Ray Review Away We Go is the latest film directed by Sam Mendes. Away We Go is a heartwarming tale of a couple travelling across the United States to find the perfect home for their unborn child. Here's our full Blu-Ray review...

Still loving Red Dead Redemption as much as we are? Well head on over to the Playstation Store right now and pick up the 'Outlaws to the End' co-op mission pack. Weighing it at only 15MB it's a small download, best of all though, it's free.
The recently announced game Devil's Third from legendary game maker Tomonobu Itagaki will not be released until 2012 according to THQ... Just thought you'd like to know in case you were holding your breath or something.
Rumour Mill News
Birdie dropped in today with a message that may not be too surprising. While Playstation Network Plus, the premium online network service, will cost $US49.99, the service will cost Australians $AU69.95. A 90 day subscription will set you back $20.95.
PS3 Review Clash of the Titans The Videogame was released a few weeks after the theatrical film which is a bad sign to start with. The movie though was a little disappointing - especially the shithouse 3D - but is this game any better? Michael has suffered through the game, and gives you his thoughts...

Something we may not have clarified yesterday is that yes, we will still be covering Blu-Ray disc news, and will still be reviewing some discs, but only the major or game related releases. We still have a bit of a backlog so expect some 'lesser' titles to be reviewed still in the next month or so before we cut back.
While the Playstation Move has been priced at $49.99, and the sub controller at $US29.99 there has been much speculation about the Microsoft Kinect pricing. It has now been revealed that Microsoft's solution will cost a whopping $US149.99 (so probably $AU199.99). That's pretty pricey for a camera!
Recently we were MEGA excited to hear that Sega would be porting the Dreamcast games Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure to the PS3. In the last day or so though our excitement has dimmed somewhat with the news that Crazy Taxi would not include the licensed music (The Offspring from memory) but will be replaced with another band while the licensed stores such as Pizza Hut will also be removed. On another note Sonic Adventure will only have a 4:3 aspect ratio (Crazy Taxi will include a 16:9 mode).
So why isn't Ninja Theory making Heavenly Sword 2? Well the company wanted to make its next title multi-platform and seeing as Sony owned the IP to the franchise that wasn't going to happen. The company is currently putting the finishing touches on Enslaved due this year through Namco Bandai.
Twisted Metal was one of the big game announcements at Sony's E3 conference but David Jaffe has just confirmed the game will not support either the Playstation Move or 3D visuals. The game has already been in development for 18 months at his development studio Eat, Sleep, Play.
Blu-Ray Review 50 Dead Men Walking tells the true story of an IRA member who ended up becoming an informant for the English police, thereby saving a reported fifty lives. Here's our full Blu-Ray review.

OK folks, thanks for sticking around. I'm getting better and expect normal updates to resume tomorrow. Well normal in a fashion as there will be some changes to the site...
You see over the last little while I've been looking at my workloads and, at times, this site would take up a ridiculous amount of hours in the week. Following my recent illness I was considering shutting Futuregamez right down and people close to me recommended that was the best option. This is my baby though, and doing that is hard. What I have decided though is to dramatically cut down the number of Blu-Ray reviews and keep the coverage to game related or "blockbuster" movies only. Over the last 3 months I, personally, have done 25 Blu-Ray reviews, and 5 game reviews. That's a lot of extra work.
I notified movie studios of my decision last night and I must say they have all be wonderfully supportive in the responses I've had so far, I thank them for that. Anyway expect a more game-focused site to be back to normal tomorrow.

Well I have to apologise somewhat for the lack of updates during E3 this year... As some of you would have seen I liveblogged the Nintendo and Sony conferences on Wednesday morning Australian time. The reason I also covered Nintendo, I was awake and in a lot of pain with a very sore and swollen knee. After the Sony conference I crashed, but couldn't really sleep and became quite ill during the day leading me to be put in the Emergency Ward at our local hospital which is where I stayed and didn't get out until last night (Friday night).
It may take me a little to get back on my feet here, so please bear with me. I will have some more news for you in the coming days.

SPECIAL EVENT - NEWS COVERAGE 2010 E3 Show For the next week all the news and events will be covered on the 2010 E3 Page. There is expected to be some major events, Playstation Move and Natal will be shown, and the Nintendo 3DS too, but it's the unknown that excites; new PS3 models? PSP2? New games. You'll see it all here...
June 13, 2010
Well it's E3 week and starting tomorrow we'll be putting all the news for the week, almost everything will be related to or from the show, on the 2010 E3 news page. In the meantime check out our coverage page here for our predictions - will we be right? We'll know in a few days. Oh, also expect a blogging as things happen at the Sony Conference on Wednesday morning from 4am (Australian Eastern Time)!

Blu-Ray Review Bran Nue Dae is an Australian film which was a hit at the cinemas last year. Village Roadshow have now released the movie on Blu-Ray. Luke has taken a look and quite enjoyed this release from a technical, and artistic, standpoint.
June 11, 2010
PS3 Review Red Dead Redemption sees Rockstar take on the Wild West with a game not too far removed from their monster hit GTAIV. There is certainly plenty to like here from the visuals, to the audio, and the gameplay. In fact, this is a must-have title and here's our full review.
June 10, 2010
Sadly Sony Europe has confirmed that the video we linked a couple of days ago is indeed a fake. There are, as expected, no plans for a PS4 announcement anytime soon. Whoever made it though, we're impressed.
Blu-Ray Review Strange Bedfellows is the 2004 hit movie starring Paul Hogan and Michael Caton. Indeed both are great actors and this movie is an amusing look at "turning gay" to defraud the Tax Department (and who doesn't want to do that!).
June 9, 2010
Blu-Ray Review Religulous was never released to cinemas in Australia so it's not surprising if you haven't heard of it. After the hit Borat, director Larry Charles created this movie with Bill Maher looking at various religions and beliefs around the world. It's quite entertaining.

Now we don't usually post viral videos and the like but this is either too good to be true, or too cryptic to ignore. We don't know if it's promoting 3D games on the PS3 (the person near the end is wearing 3D glasses of sorts), or if it's something to do with the Playstation 4. Look at the last frames in the video. See PS4 v3.1 there. Anyway check this video, posted by SCElabs...
Respawn Entertainment, that new startup company made up primarily of ex-Infinity Ward chaps, will apparently be making a splash at E3. According to their Facebook page we can expect a "big time announcement at E3 next week. stay tuned, kiddies!"
Blu-Ray Review Dorian Gray wasn't a movie I (Dave) was familiar with however it was released to cinemas in the UK and Australia although failed to make an impact. The film is now available on Blu-Ray and, according to Luke who has done up the review, does a decent job of reproducing the Oscar Wilde story.

No doubt one of the most exciting games expected to be shown off en masse at the E3 Show is the new Playstation Move controller and games. Sony America has now put up a teaser site for the controller and games which can be seen here.
One of the coolest games on PS3 is Infamous and Sony has now confirmed that the sequel, Infamous 2 is indeed in development (huzzah!). Expect plenty of details at the E3 show however the latest Game Informer has confirmed that the Cole now has a new voice actor, the game takes place in a new city, there are traditional and comic book styled cut-scenes, and more populated streets. (BTW: Are Sony going to have any suprises left with all these announcements?).
LucasArts has confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II will be released on October 26, 2010.
PS3 Review UFC Undisputed 2010 is certain to be another smash hit in the series. If you like mixed martial arts then there is little doubt you would be familiar with the UFC, and THQ's game tie-ins. This years release is out now and is quite impressive. Here's our full review.
June 6, 2010
THQ has confirmed that Volition's next shooter will be Red Faction: Armageddon. The game takes place after the events of Red Faction Guerrilla and sees the humans now sheltering underground, but it's no longer just humans on the planet. We can only hope that the wonderful destruction from the previous game is seen underground too. Release date; March 2011.

Blu-Ray Review Update
JUst a little note here. Recently we put up the review of An Empress and the Warriors however the audio details were mixed up and incorrect. We stated the disc only included a Dolby Digital 5.1 track however it does in fact include a much better DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. It's a decent movie too so we suggest you check it out.
June 3, 2010
Blu-Ray Review Avatar should need no introduction to anyone that has been alive the last 6 months. This is now the biggest movie ever at the box office, and the movie which pushed 3D viewing to new heights (and soon lounge rooms). Avatar is available now as a movie-only Blu-Ray disc, no extras. It's a superb transfer so those wanting to visit Pandora again should pick this up. A review.
June 2, 2010
Treyarch has confirmed that they are now a 100% Call of Duty studio and will no longer work on other franchises such as James Bond or Spider-Man as they have in recent years. Of course Call of Duty: Black Ops is due out in November 2010.
Blu-Ray Review Zombieland was one of the most entertaining zombie movies of recent times and this Sony Pictures release is out now on Blu-Ray which is sure to please fans. We've taken a look and give you our thoughts on this recent release.

According to reports Rockstar has decided not to show off a new title at the upcoming E3 show due to a lack of time before the event. Could it have been the rumoured Grand Theft Auto V? It's possible or perhaps another of their projects including L.A. Noire or Max Payne 3.
Naughty Dog has confirmed that their latest patch for Uncharted 2 does indeed lock out some multiplayer modes including The Lab and double cash. The developers are working on a fix asap.
PS3 Preview Nier is the latest release from a little company called Square-Enix. Indeed this is an all-new action RPG and Michael has taken a look at the game and done up a review to let you know what he thinks. In short, it's good, not great.
