Infinity Ward and Activision have released a patch for Modern Warfare 2 which fixes the "infinite care package" exploit, improves sentry gun placement, the XP exploits and other issues. The patch is live now in Europe and will be available globally soon (if not already).
You want more PS3 previews? Yar, OK, don't sweat it there's more coming which promise to be just as big as those we put online over the last week - Heavy Rain, Blazblue, Final Fantasy XIII, Yakuza 3 and M.A.G. in case you missed them.
Codemasters has confirmed they have officially cancelled development of Heist, or Hei$t depending on how you spell it.
Battle of Red Cliff is a Chinese action movie based, somewhat, on historical events. Indeed we're big fans of director John Woo here and The Battle of Red Cliff is easily one of his best movies. This Blu-Ray is reference quality and the movie is fantastic, check it out.

Capcom has confirmed that a demo for MotoGP 09/10 will be released in February, around a month before the game hits retail shelves. Additionally the game will see two free DLC packs, the first pack will contain the 800cc bike class with all the bike, rider and team liveries, plus the brand new tracks for the 2010 MotoGP – Silverstone (UK) and Balatonring (Hungary). The second pack will include all the bike, rider and team livery updates for the 600cc and 125cc bike class.

January 29, 2010
It has been rumoured on and off since the XBox 360 DLC was announced, and now Rockstar have finally confirmed that Episodes from Liberty City will be released on the PS3. Comprising the two downloadable packs, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, this will be available as a standalone disc (not requiring the original game) on March 30, 2010. Each episode will also be available seperately on the Playstation Store.
Capcom has confirmed that the official website for Lost Planet 2 has now gone live. You can check it out here.
Deep Impact is one of our favourite disaster movies. Indeed this 1998 film came out only months before the very similar Armageddon, but this one reviews better with scientists also commenting on the greater realism. The Blu-Ray is out now and it offers a very solid audio visual transfer.
Final Fantasy XIII. Some of you may have heard of this little Square-Enix franchise, hehehe. The latest in this multi-million selling franchise is due out on March 9 in America and Europe and we've had a look. In short, don't miss this preview!
January 27, 2010
Our affiliates Play-Asia have a pretty awesome bargain on at the moment with the Korean version (which is in English) of Battlefield: Bad Company for the awesome price of only $AU16.72. Do us a favour and help support Futuregamez.net by ordering it through here.
Heavy Rain is a game we have been dying to play since the 2006 tech demo. If you played Fahrenheit on PS2 then you should be very excited for this new game from Quantic Dream. With mature themes and a rather unique game style this looks great.

Happy Australia Day!
Well happy Australia Day everyone. We hope you're not too hung over. I took it pretty easy this year - the last 3 years my wife and I have taken a long weekend holiday, but not this year with the public holiday falling on a Tuesday (and no, I wasn't one of the estimated 15-20% of people taking a Monday sickie!). Anyway have a good day and sober up for work/school tomorrow!
Capcom has today confirmed that Super Street Fighter IV will be released in Europe on April 30, 2010. Americans will see the game on shelves April 27.
Capcom have also confirmed that Lost Planet 2 will be released in Europe and America on PS3 and XBox 360 on May 18, 2010.
The Simpsons: Season 20 is a release we've been keen to check out. Fox have skipped a bunch of seasons to bring us Season 20 on Blu-Ray. Why? Well not only is it the latest season, but it also saw a switch to widescreen episodes. A review...
Blazblue has been out in Japan and America for a while but we have just received a March date for Europe/Australia. If you like your 2D fighting games then BlazBlue is a game you should certainly check out. It looks fantastic. A preview...
January 25, 2010
We're going to go preview crazy!! You read it right. Of late there have been a lot of Blu-Ray reviews, and not so much of the game previews. Well there are a couple of resons for that, firstly we've been flooded with Blu-Ray discs of late primarily due to Universal starting to support the site - thanks guys! - and to some extent we've lost focus a bit. Well over the last few days I've been working my ass off to bring you previews of the biggest games coming out soon. We've posted M.A.G. yesterday and Yakuza 3 today, but expect a lot more, and even bigger titles previewed in the next week or two. Yes, there are plenty of Blu-Ray reviews too (including titles like Simpsons: Season 20, Forrest Gump, Up, and Red Cliff) but the focus is back on PS3 in a big way too! Sit back and enjoy...
Yakuza 3 is a game which many people have been asking about. With 500,000 sales in Japan and plenty of fans in the West asking for this game Sega have finally set a March release date for America, Europe and Australia. We've taken a look at what to expect from the game.
January 24, 2010
M.A.G. (or Massive Action Game as it is known) looks impressive. When it comes to online shooters none has what this game provides - online battles for up to 256 players. This very ambitious title from Zipper Interactive looks great.
January 23, 2010
It's been a long time since we've had any real news but apparently February is when Rockstar's LA Noire will finally be unveiled in a magazine. The game has been in development at Team Bondi in Australia since 2004 and while initially announced as a PS3 exclusive it may now be multi-platform. Expect more news soon.
Ubisoft has tweeted that the first expansion pack for Assassin's Creed II will be released on January 28. Check out the tweet here.
January 22, 2010
Sega has set the EUropean release date for Yakuza 3 for March 18 which isn't exactly going to be a quiet time being just over a week after a certain Square-Enix RPG, and possibly the same week as a certain game starring Kratos. Still for fans of Sega's Action RPG it's looking good.
SCEE has confirmed that a demo for Heavy Rain will be released on the Playstation Store on February 11. The PS3 exclusive game is due to hit shelves a couple of weeks later although we are still awaiting a cofnirmation of an Australian date.
Inglourious Basterds, which is delibertly misspelt, is Quentin Tarantino's latest movie which has just hit Blu-Ray. Set during World War II this is a superbly crafted tale which isn't all blood and gore. This is one of Tarantino's best.
January 21, 2010
Aliens Vs Predator is certainly one of the most anticipated games of 2010. While we previewed this game a few months ago we though we'd take another look since Sega had the games ban in Australia overturned. We have plenty of new info.
January 20, 2010
Well we questioned the release date yesterday and Sony has now confirmed that the Motion Controller for the PS3 will be released in Spring 2010 now, a delay from the March 2010 date. Interestingly the device will also use the "Playstation Eye 2". This will put the device up against Microsoft's Project Natal camera controller also due in Spring 2010.
January 19, 2010
According to reports Sony has named their upcoming Playstation 3 motion controller "Arc". Sony Europe aren't commenting on the rumours at this stage. Kaz Hirai had stated the peripheral would be out in March 2010, however it now only has a loose 2010 release date.
Sony Australia has today issued a press release confirming that MAG, which we are hoping to have previewed tomorrow, will be released in Australia on February 11, 2010.
We are saddened to report the following story to everyone today. Apparently Gouri Daisuke, the voice of Heihachi in Bandai Namco's Tekken series has died aged 57. Apparently he took his own life as police found a knife and will near his body which had a wound to his arm.
Push is the latest picture from Icon Films and indeed seems like a crossover between X-Files and Heroes. This movie, staring Dakota Fanning and Chris Evans has some pretty good moments, and a brilliant transfer on Blu-Ray.
January 18, 2010
One of the most unique PS3 exclusive games coming soon has to be 3D Dot Game Heroes which will be published by SouthPeak in Europe and Atlus in the US. It has now been confirmed that the game should be released in both territories in May 2010.
Project Needlemouse was announced in late 2009 and the only thing we knew was that it was a new Sonic game and that finally Sega were listening - the game would be in 2D. Huzzah. Well here's some more great news Sega have announced the full playable character list. It's as follows; Sonic. Again, huzzah! Sega are going to focus on the one character that brought the franchise to the masses before they added in too many other questionable characters. Expect more news in the months ahead.
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs was a monster hit at the cinemas in 2009 raking in some $US884 million worldwide making it the third biggest movie of the year behind Avatar and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This Blu-Ray release from Fox really does show off the Blu-Ray format at it's very best.
January 16, 2010
Activision has confirmed that despite less then stellar sales for DJ Hero the company is pushing forward with a sequel. We'd be putting some money on a release in late 2010.
With Sony Japan confirming that Gran Turismo 5 wouldn't make the March 2010 release date in Japan we now know why; the game isn't complete. In fact Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi stated to USA Today that "about 90% of the game is done. We are just working on the last 10% and polishing up everything." So April 2012 it is then? (Kidding, we're putting money on Q'4 2010).
Now we don't know why exactly, but that optional PS3 Firmware 3.15 today popped up as a mandatory install on our PS3. Strange, but apparently it's not a mistake so get downloading.
January 15, 2010
Sony Australia has confirmed that, despite reports to the contrary, MAG has not been given a release date of January 28 in Australia. An announcement will be made soon...
January 14, 2010
All Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that BlazBlue will not be released in Australia in late February as planned, but has been bumped back a couple of weeks until March 18. The 2D brawler received a lot of praise overseas upon launch and is one of the most anticipated games in early 2010.
One of the biggest games of the year, Final Fantasy XIII, is complete. According to Square Enix's Motomu Toriyama the game isn't just a straight port but has also seen complete lip synching for the English release. The game is due out on March 9, 2010.
MAG or Massive Action Game, Sony's 256-player online only shooter has been given a release date of January 28 in Australia, January 29 in the UK and January 27 in the rest of Europe. Can it topple a certain Activision shooter? It will have a tough job, but early impressions are favourable.
Funny People stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana and Jonah Hill, but this isn't a straight-out comedy but also a movie which has a lot of heart. A brilliant Blu-Ray release from Universal we recommend this to any movie fans.
January 13, 2010
Sony Japan has confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 will not be released in March 2010 as announced last year. The initial reports were a delay of 3 months, while Sony Japan is now only confirming "postponed" with a date to be confirmed later down the track. I guess you could say the European version will be delayed too - although seeing as we have never been given a release date I guess it's still up in the air. I would pencil in Christmas 2010.
A couple of God of War III tidbits. Firstly several American retailers are showing a March 16 release date, which ties in closely with the rumoured Australian dates we're hearing. Speaking of Australia the Classification Board has awarded the (unedited - as confirmed by Sony) game an MA15+ rating citing "Strong violence, sexual references and nudity".
Movie Industry News
The last week has seen the CES show held over in America and while there is little game news the big focus was on 3D TV's and Blu-Ray 3D. Most major companies (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG) have announced 3D TV's and Blu-Ray players for release in 2010 (in America at least although we hear Sony will launch in Australia this June).
Perhaps more interesting is the news that around June the Playstation 3 will be receiving a Firmware update to allow all systems to run Blu-Ray 3D discs. The first movies announced include Cloud with a Chance of Meatballs, Monsters Vs Aliens and A Christmas Carol. Surprisingly/disappointingly Avatar wasn't announced for 3D at the event - but you can bet it will be coming somewhere down the line.
January 12, 2010
Whoops... No we haven't dropped off the planet over new on the news page, we've had a few issues updating the site over the last week. We'll update again tomorrow now that things are back to normal, but for now enjoy the couple of reviews that went online on the main page over the last few days, the links of which we have below - Dave.
District 9 is easily one of our favourite movies of 2009 and Sony Pictures have just released the Blu-Ray disc which is a superb release. A brilliant audio visual transfer and superb extras makes this the first must have Blu-Ray release of 2010 (yar, ok, technically it came out last year on December 30).
January 11, 2010
Darksiders is a game that has been on our radar for quite some time, but it's release in early 2010 was one that crept up on this sleeper title. Michael played, and very much enjoyed what he saw with this release - check out his full review now.
January 10, 2010
Vancouver 2010 is, somewhat unsurprisingly, the video game tie-in for the Winter Olympics which start in mid-February. Developed by Eurocom and published by Sega this is a game sports fans may want to check out.
January 9, 2010
Waterworld was one of the most expensive movies ever made at $US175 million, and having seen the movie on Blu-Ray I can honestly say this isn't the worst movie ever, far from it. The Blu-Ray transfer is pretty solid too, so fans may want to check this out. Worth an upgrade? Hmmm...

2009 Futuregamez Awards Part 3 is the third and final part to our 2009 awards, and where you'll find the big ones. This segment contains best visuals and best audio on PSP and PS3 as well as the Game of the Year. What will win? Modern Warfare 2? Resistance Retribution? Uncharted 2? Batman: Arkham Asylum? The answers await...

PlayTV isn't a game, but rather a small piece of hardware and software that gives you the ability to watch and record TV through your PS3. This is one sexy piece of kit which we've been using solid for the last couple of weeks and give you our full opinion of this great product.
Capcom has confirmed that they will be releasing a demo of Dark Void on the Playstation Store this week. The game has been in development for a considerable amount of time now and is due out at the end of the month.
In the endless wait for Gran Turismo 5 more details continue to trickle out and in the latest official Playstation Magazine confirmation is included of night races as well as Indy Cars. Now, if we had a release date...
In this interview wtih Eurogamer Vigil's Joe Madureira has confirmed that there will not be any downloadable content, or multiplayer, updates down the track for Darksiders. The game is crackingly good and we hope to have our review online sometime in the next few days, but we would say if you like the look of the game don't hesitate to pick up the game this Friday.
According to Tech-On (here) Sony and Panasonic have worked out a way to increase a single layer Blu-Ray capacity from 25GB to 33.4GB using existing Blu-Ray laser diodes. This would mean a dual layer disc could conceivably hold 66.8GB (an increase of 33.6% over the current spec). The Blu-ray Disc Association need to evaluate and approve the changes, but it is believed Blu-Ray players could be upgraded via a Firmware update. So will it happen? If anything we feel more comfortable that Sony may implement this with PS3 games as the PS3 Firmware is easily upgraded, but we feel the BDA may not approve this for Blu-Ray movies due to some players due to the confusion and issues it may create with consumers. Perhaps though it will become the standard for 3D movies on Blu-Ray in late 2010? Time will tell...
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was the movie that launched Guy Ritchie's directing career and the acting careers of Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham. This cult classic is available on Blu-Ray now and we've given the disc a spin.
January 5, 2010
2009 Futuregamez Awards Part 2 continues the best of 2009 and in this second part we look at the best of all the genres including Best Shooter, Best Action/Adventure, Best RPG and Best Racing Game (among others) as well as Best Game People Forgot to Buy, Best Technology, Best Cut-Scenes and Best Artistic Style.
Bruno is Sacha Baron Cohen's follow-up to the smash hit Borat. While we quite enjoyed that previous movie we can't honestly say we enjoyed this effort much at all. It's a poor movie, with average audio and visual presentation (due to the source material really) and only one for the fans.
January 4, 2010
Like your WWE? Well you'll be pleased to heard that THQ has secured the rights to make (we expect annual) WWE games for the next 8 years taking it to WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2018 (or so). The deal also see THQ settle a dispute with toy licensee Jakks Pacific for $33.2 million - although no one is at fault over a current dispute in the settlment.
According to reports on 1Up Sega has confirmed that Yakuza 3 will include English voiceovers as well as the previously confirmed subtitles (for Japanese speech if you prefer it). Sega has spend $700,000 on the English voiceovers so it's no quick port. Well done Sega on giving us all the options for this March release.
Public Enemies was directed by Michael Mann and stars one of the hottest actors of the moment, Johnny Depp, in this movie about real-life criminal John Dillinger. This really is a good movie, but does the transfer let it down? Somewhat...
Hyperballoid HD is a Playstation Store game going for the ultra-low price of only $6.95. Mike has done up his review of this Breakout clone and come away, well, with somewhat mixed feelings.
