Firewall is a recent Harrison Ford starring movie. With Paul Bettany, Virginia Madsen, Robert Patrick, and Alan Arkin co-starring this certainly had the potential to do well. Sadly this movie fails to really fire on all cylinders leaving us with an average movie at best.

All Interactive Entertainment have today confirmed that BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (developed by Arc System Works) will be released on PS3 in Australia on February 10, 2010. The fighting game has been receiving phenomenal review scores since being released in Japan and America last June.

Sony has confirmed that an update will be released this week for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which will include an entirely new multi-player level called "The Fort". The patch will also see a double cash weekend enabled, new skins for characters and improvements to leaderboards. Best of all, the patch is free.

Lego Rock Band is certainly an interesting title. Lego is loved by millions and has been for decades. Rock Band is only a couple of years old, but also loved by the masses. Now, the two franchises have merged together...

Night At The Museum 2 sees the return of the majority of the cast from the original movie. With the original movie making almost $US500 million this sequel was inevitable. Can the addition of more characters, and a change of museum, keep it interesting? Here's our Blu-Ray review.

Thinking about getting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for yourself, or for a Christmas present? Well if you live in Australia get your ass to your local retailer as South Australian Attorney-General Michael Atkinson (yes, the same A-G that refuses to allow R18+ ratings for games) is attempting to get Activision's title banned in Australia by asking the Classification Board to have another look at the rating the game was awarded given the terrorist mission. Will he succeed? Let's just say that we didn't suggest you rush out and get a copy for fun. Expect more news in the coming days. Gamespot has an article with comments from Mr Atkinson here.
Sega has confirmed that a demo of Bayonetta will be released on the Playstation Store on December 3rd. The game received a perfect 40/40 in Famitsu for the XBox 360 with a couple of marks less for the PS3 version - but still a near-perfect score. Even Edge Magazine in the UK gave the game 10/10, only the 11th game to get a perfect score in over a decade of magazines (most of which we have here actually!). This is one demo to download, the full game is due in early January in America and Europe.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes is based on the current animated TV series. With visuals not dissimilar to those in the TV series things looked promising, but then Michael played through the game, and walked away quite disappointed. Here's his full review...

ROckstar has confirmed that a trailer for Red Dead Redemption will be released next Tuesday. That will certainly be one to check out.
The Librarians is an Australian comedy from the ABC. Indeed the comedy is rather unique and the series is now available on Blu-Ray. If you enjoy the TV series, or even if you haven't seen it, then this is a release you may want to check out on Blu-Ray.

We fired up our Playstation 3 today and noticed a new icon in the XMB. Now we don't know when it appeared, we didn't recall seeing it when the new Firmware 3.10 launched last week, but Australians now have access to the ABC's iView service so they can watch TV shows missed. It seems to work pretty well too so make sure you check it out.
Something else that Firmware 3.10 has included, but which hasn't been mentioned, is the ability to send error report to Sony when your PS3 crashes. Hopefully a) you won't ever need to worry about this but also b) it will help Sony diagnose and resolve problems quite quickly.

The Australian Classification Board has put up the classification decision for Heavy Rain (available here) and the game has been awarded an MA15+ with the advice "Strong violence, themes and sex scene" with the version "Original". There had been concerns the game may be censored for Australia, but this gives us hope that it may be uncensored - with the sex scene one of the more questionable inclusions.
WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 really needs no introduction. THQ's wrestling game has been given its annual update with this recent release. While the gameplay is similar to previous versions the number of game modes, and multi-player, manages to impress. Here's our review.

Remember how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was banned in Russia? Well it appears Activision will be editing the game to remove the terrorist mission so the game can be re-released there.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen was a monster hit at the cinemas earlier this year. Indeed Michael Bay's sequel may have disappointed some but it still took in $US833 million around the globe which means it did something right. Spectacular visuals, audio and extras are a highlight on this Blu-Ray release from Paramount.

Sony has spoken about PS3 Firmware 3.10 on the Official Playstation Blog and confirmed that they key features include integration with Facebook (your friends will see what trophies you have collected, what games you have bought and so on), a choice of 20 different colours to replace that ugly grey box behind your friends, and improvements to the Photo Gallery. You can read more details and see a video here.
We love our dance/rave music here at Futuregamez and from 17:00 GMT on Tuesday 17th November (which by our terrible maths puts it at around 4am Wednesday in Sydney/Melbourne) we'll be loading up Vidzone as Underworld's latest single, "Downpipe", will be released exclusively on the service. For those unaware Underworld's most popular song to date is one called "Born Slippy". Indeed...
Buzz: Brain of Oz has been out for quite a while now but for one reason or another we missed putting our review online. Still, this should make a good Christmas gift and is worth checking out if you're after something for Christmas that will make use of the goo between your ears!

If you've got SingStar on the PS3 then you hopefully didn't release patch 4.2 recently. Following that installation users noticed songs being deleted, the game crashing, and some media corruption. Sony have issued an apology which you can read here. They are currently working on a patch, with users possibly needing to re-download songs following the patch's release in a couple of weeks time.
It seems everyone is playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and it is now official that sales in the UK were 1.7 million units in the first week. If you live in Russia though you might be out of luck now with the government pulling the game off the shelves following the terrorist mission titled "No Russian". As for our review, we're not rushing it. Put it this way, the game is phenomenal, but we're playing it to death before the review goes online. In short, just buy it.
The Piano was the winner of multiple awards, not least of which was the Palm D'Or at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. If you're a fan then you may wish to know that this movie is now available on Blu-Ray. Here's a review...

Well being the visual effects junkie that I am I couldn't help but take my wife to go and see Roland Emmerich's 2012 at the cinemas today. What can I say, the visual effects in this movie are simply mind blowing - simply the best, most jaw-dropping, stuff that I have ever seen. Sure there are moments the look a little too CG, but damn... Now as for the storyline. If you've seen Independence Day or The Day After Tomorrow you know what to expect with a range of characters from a small family, to President, to asshole government member, to the mad scientist. Still this is a movie you must see on the silver screen if you haven't already and love destruction. If you're after an in-depth storyline, ermm, go elsewhere perhaps. I can't wait for this to hit Blu-Ray next year.

Square-Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will be released in Europe and America on March 9. We have to be pretty happy that this game, which requires a massive amount of translation, as well as porting to XBox 360 is appearing only three months after Japan gets the game this December. Pencil it in.
November 12, 2009
Square-Enix have confirmed they will be making a major announcemnt on the European Playstation Blog (access it here) for Final Fantasy XIII. What it will be is unknown but it is believe a trailer/movie will be featured. Did someone say release date?
Well it seems Infinity Ward are getting there with confirmation patch to get Trophies working in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been released and they should now work in the game (we're not sure if you need to remove your save file and start again though - Update: We're now receiving word that the patch fixes trophies but breaks online play for some! Sigh!). The developers are working on the lobby system patch which will be released this Friday all going well. Gamers today would have also noticed the online component wasn't working - basically the servers overloaded and the
Speaking of the game reports are coming in that Europe has seen sales of 1.23 million units of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the first day of release. Those unmbers are unsubstantiated, but it could put worldwide sales well over the 5 million mark after the first week on sale. Now that's impressive.
I Love You, Man is a comedy which sees a young man (played by Paul Rudd) about to get married, but when he realises he has no male friends he searches for the perfect best man. Sound funny? It is... sort of.

Infinity Ward's Grant Bowling has released the following Tweet about the PS3 issues with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - "Thanks for the feedback from PS3 players we already have a patch in the wings for release. Trophy update asap. Party invite update by Friday". Hopefully both issues will be fixed by Friday then.
Band Hero is a game for the entire family. We've had Guitar Hero, and more recently DJ Hero, and now Activision is launching Band Hero which brings a more pop styled flavour to the music. Here's a preview.

It's a big day for PS3 owners with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hitting the streets. Those of you eager to get your hands on the game though may like to know that if you install the 15MB mandatory patch when you go online, this seems to disable the trophies. We have that issue here at the moment which is a real pain as we're mostly wanting to play online. The only solution, don't install (or if you have then uninstall) the patch, but you won't be able to go online! We've sought comment from Activision, but haven't heard back yet.
We now have a second issue with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Those that purchased the Hardened or Prestige Edition would have received a code to download the original Call of Duty. Problem is, when you put that code into the Playstation Store to download the game, it comes up with an invalid code. This appears to be happening to everyone, and there is no indication from Activision or Infinity Ward as to when it will be available. As with the Trophy issue we've asked, and are still awaiting comment.
Pulp Fiction is a classic Quentin Tarantino's movie, which currently sits at #5 in the best movies of all-time according to IMDB. The film now 15 years old, but it still holds up well. This Blu-Ray release offers a solid upgrade over DVD. A review...

Mary and Max is an Australian film, and a bloody good one too. Following the success of Harvey Krumpet this full-length stop motion animation movie is another cracker. A unique tale takes a bit to get into, but it's very impressive.

Speaking to Autoweek Kazunori Yamauchi has commented that makeing Gran Turismo 5 has cost the company around $US60 million to make. Kazunori also commented that the game has taken so long to make because they started the entire engine from scratch, they are aiming to have 1,000 cars in the final game (and on disc rather then downloadable), 20 different environments with 70 track layouts, and that each car is made up of 400,000 polygons - 100 times more then cars in Gran Turismo 4. You can read the full interview here.
Square-Enix's President and CEO Yoichi Wada has commented in a recent financial briefing that the company is making "good progress" on the International version of Final Fantasy XIII. The game is due out in Japan on December 17 this year, and the company is still hopeful of an International release by April 30, 2010.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves should need no introduction, to PS3 owners, nor to those who haven't even purchased Sony's system yet. The first Uncharted remains one of the best games on the PS3 but this sequel even puts that game to shame. Our first 100% game ever? Read our review to find out...
Namco Bandai have confirmed that they are working on a patch to fix online lag issues in their latest release Tekken 6 which hit shelves this week. You know, that kind of crap pisses me off. If a company can't sort out one of the key features prior to release, then in our books the game shouldn't be fit for release. In some regards having consoles online somewhat dilutes the "stringant testing" that should take place and seems to be slowly being replaced with a "we'll patch it later" attitude. Sure, we realise that people wanting to play online, will be able to download the patch, but what about offline features, in this game and others, for gamers that aren't connected online? Just live with flaws? Not good enough Namco Bandai.

We've had a chat to Sony Australia about PlayTV in order to clarify a couple of things which people have asked about. Firstly TV shows can only be recorded onto the PS3's internal Hard Drive, so if you're running out of room you may want to upgrade. There will not be an option to backup or export files to an external Hard Drive (which kinda sucks if you ask us). Also you can not record 2 channels at once, only one, but you can watch a second channel while recording another.
According to Marvel's latest financial report a game based on Thor and another on Captain America will be released in 2011 to tie-in to the upcoming movies. No mention was made of Spider-man 4 but it's pretty much a certainty that Activision will have a game available when that movie is released in 2011 too.
Borderlands is the latest title from developers Gearbox and aims to blend FPS gameplay with some RPG elements. The unique cel-shaded visuals impress, as does much of this game actually. Check out our full review of this latest release now.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first in Walt Disney's Diamond Blu-Ray Collection. Indeed this is a cracker release of the first full-length animated movie from the studio. Needless to say, this release is stunning.
November 2, 2009
Well we broke the news on Saturday, but Sony Australia has just confirmed the details. PlayTV will launch in Australia on November 26, 2009 and will have a RRP of $169.95 which is great value for this PVR add-on for the system. It also includes dual tuners so you can watch one channel while recording another, and even record a TV show while watching a Blu-Ray or playing a game on the system. Nice...

Crazy, cheap-assed PS3 Games
The other day we mentioned some pretty cheap PS3 games at BIG W which we can now confirm a couple more games. Some friends have e-mailed us to confirm that Tom Clancy's Endwar and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway were both selling for $10 each as well. Found any others? Let us know.
