PS3 Review Terminator: Salvation is a movie we were most keen to see this year, and while not living up to expectations we were fairly impressed after getting into the Advanced Screening this weekend. We've also played through the PS3 game which while retaining the same name as the movie is quite a seperate entity. Check out our review now if you were thinking of splashing the cash...

Special Event 2009 E3 Show is upon us. Starting next week this event should bring us some big announcements. While again scaled down the 2009 show has all the main game companies present. Some companies have reduced the numbers going due to fears of Swine Flu which is doing the rounds. Still we expect some massive announcements this year, particularly from Sony. PSP2? PS3 Slimline? Price Reductions? Hit the link to follow the stories as they occur.

Sony has confirmed that Playstation Home has been downloaded a whopping 6.5 million times. Now we have to say that is an impressive number, but we just want more content. There are still areas that weren't in the earliest tests, areas in Japan and America still not in Europe, and some areas such as a nightclub which could be used to play your favourite music a doddle to set up, but not implemented. Still, improvements are coming and Sony Europe did announce a focus on content for the coming months.
Sony has today re-confirmed that VidZone will soon be available as a downloadable application for your PS3 which will allow streaming music videos to be played on your system. As yet a date has not been set with Sony likely to announce details at the E3 show in a weeks time.
No we haven't forgotten about the PSP, or coverage on this site. It's just that the news is so damn quiet on the system there hasn't been anything. Well some good news today with Activision announcing Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron for release on the system later this year. Hooray!
PS3 Review X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a game action fans should actually check out. To be honest the recently released movie wasn't as great as many had hoped, but this game makes up for it with ample amounts of blood and gore, and a decent game as well. Check out our review now...

Want to know what the next PixelJunk game will be called? Well PixelJunk Shooter. Sounds simple enough. Expect the game to be shown, with a demo apparently, at E3 in a couple of weeks.
GTTV's Geoff Keighley seems to have let the cat out of the bag. In an interview with Heavy Rain's producer he mentioned that the game would be out next year, with no denial from the producer. If the 2010 date is true, then Sony's big 2009 release obviously won't happen. So what will fill the void?
David Jaffe has confirmed he will not be showing any new titles from Eat Sleep Play at the E3 Show this year. It has been rumoured he is working on a new Twisted Metal title.
Blu-Ray Review Valkyrie is a brilliant movie, no doubt about it. One of the most thrilling stories of World War II revolves around the plot to assassinate Hitler. This Tom Cruise movie is magnificent - artistically and technically. This is truly a must have release for anyone interested in the subject matter.

By far the biggest news today, on an otherwise slow day due to Holidays in America and the UK, is the launch of the Modern Warfare 2 Reveal Trailer. Here it is...
According to rumours doing the rounds, seeing as Square-Enix won't be holding a press conference at E3 there is word that the company will announce 3 new games prior to the show. Details are scarce but rumours point to two of the games being released on multiple consoles. I guess we'll find out in the coming days.
A couple of weeks ago rumours pointed to Capcoms big game unveiling being none other then Devil May Cry 5. Well that is not the case according to Capcom. We do know it's being developed by Capcom Japan, is an action game, is not a remake but is from an established Capcom franchise. Start the guessing game folks...
PS3 Preview Virtua Tennis 2009 is due out in only a couple of days time - Friday to be exact. We almost missed getting this preview online prior to the release, but better late then never. This tennis game looks great and is one for fans to check out.

Some massive posters have been put up at the corner of S. Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles in preparation for E3 which show the three main characters for Final Fantasy XIII. The most important aspect though is the 2010 date which is as expected for America. Expect the game to make a splash at E3,
Blu-Ray Review The Air I Breath isn't a movie many would have heard of with a box office gross in America of $US25,000. What makes that astounding is the cast including Brendan Fraser, Andy Garcia. Forrest Whitaker, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Bacon and Emile Hirsch. Fortunately the movie is on Blu-Ray and we've taken a look.

Simon Turner, 2K's UK marketing manager has told MVC that the marketing campaign for Bioshock 2 will be "the biggest in 2K's history". The company expects the game to be one of the top five of the year in the industry.
Eidos has confirmed that the patch enabling trophies for Tomb Raider: Underworld has now been released. Those with the game may want to get online and download it and then start replaying the game. The company has also confirmed the game is now a part of the Platinum range.

PS3 Team Ico News
This one we couldn't wait until tomorrow to share. A video of Team Ico's latest project currently dubbed Project Trico has leaked online. We've embedded it below, just enjoy:
Gold Coast Storm News
You'll have to excuse me for the light update tonight. As you may have seen on the news today the Gold Coast is getting smashed by some a wicked stormfront which has been building over the last 36 hours or so. The Seaway in Southport copped winds gusting up to 117km/hr at 2.30pm today, there has been widespead flooding and damage with a man tragically killed in Surfers Paradise today when a window was smashed by debris. Indeed the school where I work got hit with several cars damaged by falling trees. Anyway, expect normal updates to resume tomorrow - hopefully!
Activision and Bizarre Creations have announced that they will be releasing an all-new racing game later this year called Blur. The game allows 20 cars on the track at once (and yes, that means 20 players online) or up to 4-players via split-screen. Expect to hear a lot more about this game very soon (and we're sure to do up a preview).
The E3 rumours are starting to mount with only a couple of weeks to go, and one that popped up today is that Capcom will announce Devil May Cry 5. This is one of their biggest franchises and another sequel is inevitable at some stage. See if it's true in a couple of weeks...
Square-Enix have always said that Final Fantasy XIII would be released in Japan this Christmas, with America a few months later and Europe hopefully within 12 months of the Japanese release. Today however a Japanese reporter asked at a press conference if the game would be released this year to which the response from an unknown Square-Enix employee was "I'll try". Anyone for a delay?
Just a quick note to confirm that Playstation Home will be updated to version 1.21 this week. This update will include a swag of improvements and bug fixes. Meanwhile Sony Europe have confirmed that updates will be quiet over the next month or two as they prepare plenty of new spaces to explore. The company has even employed another person to assist in speeding up the process.

Now here's something quite interesting. According to the Moderator on the Sucker Punch forums Sony Europe has requested different versions of inFamous for use within Europe. One version will have English, Portuguese, and Russian, a second version will have French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Dutch while a third version will only include Polish as the OS does not support this language natively. Now this may not sound important but in countries like Holland many gamers play games in English - but that won't be an option any more. Still, this remains a highly anticipated release for early June,
Assassin's Creed 2 promises to be one of the biggest releases in 2009 and Ubisoft are making sure the game meets expectations. Indeed of the 150 staff that worked on the original game around 75% of them are working on this sequel. That's around 110 of those staff. But that's not all as Ubisoft have confirmed that in total 450 people are currently working on the project. Now that's a monster team!
Blu-Ray Review Marley & Me is a movie which everyone would have seen the promotions for earlier this year. You know, the cute puppies running around with Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston trying to control him when he gets older. Well the Blu-Ray is available now and we've taken a look.
May 18, 2009
Well is it official or a fake? Pictures have leaked out from a Chinese company showing a PS3 Slimline unit. The pictures are pretty poor quality, but they point to Sony announcing a slim unit at the E3 show in a couple of weeks time (and hopefully with a price cut!). Update: A Chinese firm is now sending out cease and desist letters to a number of sites containing the images including Kotaku, Engadget and Spong. If they are fakes, why would these letters be sent out? Sony aren't commenting.
PS3 Review SingStar Pop Edition has been released only a month after SingStar Queen hit the shelves. This time we're back to a compilation of songs rather then a single band. Is it another hit, or more of a miss?

If you live in America, or have managed to get your PS3 to connect to the American Playstation Store, then you may want to head over there as Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is, for this week only, beinc set as a free download thanks to a sponsorship deal with Sprint. The game isn't the best on the Store, but hey, it's free so get to it!
Sega and tri-Ace have today announced that they are developing a brand new RPG called Resonance of Fate. The game is currently due out in Australia in Autumn 2010 (that's Q'2 2010).
Ubisoft have confirmed that the highly anticipated Beyond Good & Evil 2 will not be shown at E3 this year. The game is the sequel to the underperforming, but brilliant, 2003 PS2 game - our review of which you can see here.
Electronic Arts has announced that Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince will be released around the globe on all platforms on June 30, 2009. This is a couple of weeks before the movie, but given the game was almost complete prior to the movie received it's 8 month delay that's not a surprise EA is ready to go. At least they've had time to polish the game to perfection.
Want to know what MGS creator Hideo Kojima has in store for his next project? Well, who doesn't. Konami and Kojima Productions have put up a teaser site (available here) which shows, well, a field with storm clouds. Hmmm...
According to Sony's latest release schedule inFamous has been moved forward a week to June 4th, 2009. Adjust your calendars accodingly.

Play-Asia has a new weekly special and this time it's Sega's PS3 shooter The Club (see our review here). It is the Korean version, but in English, and the best part is that it's $US9.90 (or $AU13.12 at today's exchange rate) and you can order it here. Now that's a bargain.
Don't forget that Hakuna Matata (Korean, English version) is still available for $US29.90 here and Aquanauts Holiday (Korean, English version) also for $US29.90 (order here).
PS3 Review Vin Diesel Wheelman hit a few bumps during development, but fortunately it was finished before Midway hit financial troubles recently. This game stars Vin Diesel and is a very entertaining, if technically slightly unpolished, title. Here's a review of this latest, and possibly last, Midway release.

While Final Fantasy XIII is still a long way off for those outside Japan, according to producer Yoshinori Kitase those looking to play the game on XBox 360 will likely see compromises due to the storage limatations of DVD as opposed to Blu-Ray. In particular the American/European version on XBox 360 will likely have the Japanese dialogue dropped, while the PS3 version will likely have it as an option.
Guerrilla Games has confirmed that Killzone 2 will see a patch 1.27 later this month which will include some "exciting features".
As expected Eidos Montreal has confirmed that they are working on Thief 4 (or Th4if as they call it). The game is only in the very early stages of development with no platforms announced to date - although we would be surprised if the PS3 was excluded.
Blu-Ray Review Forever Strong is a movie for sports fans. If you like Rugby, and that is certainly a lot of Aussies and Kiwis, then this disc is worth checking out. Based on true events this is a decent movie with some solid acting and a good storyline. Here's our Blu-Ray review.

Atari Australia and Codemasters have confirmed that Ashes Cricket 2009 will be released in the coming months to coincide with the upcoming Australia-England Ashes Test series. The game will though include teams from around the world, One day and Twenty20 matches. The game is currently in development at Transmission Games.
According to online reports the massively delayed Gran Turismo 5 will include weather effects, day and night racing and damage when it is finally released. We're actually predicting that this will be a major component of Sony's E3 presentation next month, but if the game doesn't come out soon we're going to be pretty pissed.
May 10, 2009
Treat this as a massive rumour for now, but reports from PlayStation World magazine are circulating that The Lost and Damned expansion pack for Grand Theft Auto IV will indeed be coming to PS3 - and possibly as soon as this August. It was believed that the expansion would be an XBox 360 exclusive following a deal with Microsoft, but could it have only been a timed exclusive?
Bioshock 2 is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2009 and now word has come out that the game, unlike the original, will include multi-player which is being handled by Digital Extremes. The press release states:
Multiplayer in BioShock 2 provides a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.
PS3 Review Wanted: Weapons of Fate isn't a straight movie port, but rather takes place after the events of the Angelina Jolie starring movie. Actually, if you haven't seen the movie, then we suggest you check it out as it's a blast. Developed by Grin for Warner Brothers Interactive this is a solid, but short, game.

Industry News Duke Nukem Forever. It's a game that has been in development for an eternity (12 years to be precise) and while DNF was a game only fools put pre-orders on, recent months had glimmers of hope with a shortening buglist rumoured and a rumoured E3 showing. Now DNF will go by another name Did Not Finish as, sadly, the developers 3D Realms, have gone broke and closed down. It is possible of course that the vapourware, if it is nearing completion, could be sold off to another company for completion. Still, a sad day for a company that has been making games since 1987.
Blu-Ray Review Humpbacks: From Fire To Ice is the latest release documentary from ABC and Village Roadshow. The question has to be asked though; Would you consider a 53 minute documentary worthy of Blu-Ray release? Well someone did and while it's not the best we've ever seen it is worth a look if you love whales.

So last night I decided to head off to see Star Trek at my local cinemas. Both my wife and I are keen fans of the numerous TV series' and while I don't own a Ferengi costume or any pointy ears I would call myself quite a fan of the franchise. My wife was introduced to the Star Trek universe with The Next Generation when we met, and has since become a fan. So there was quite some excitement about seeing JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie. For a bit of fun, and to be nice, I took my parents along with us. They don't know much about Star Trek, but have seen the odd episode here and there.
So, did this latest movie meet expectations? Hell yes, and then some. Following the rather dire last couple of Star Trek movie outings this is a brilliant return to form for the franchise. The acting is generally great across the board, and the visual effects look like a big Blockbuster Hollywood movie rather then a little better then a good TV episode. Each of the four of us walking out of this movie were extremely impressed by the movie, and yes, I will be going to see it again in the coming days. All I can say is this, if you at any stage in your life liked Star Trek then you must see this movie. If you like action movies you must see this movie. If you have any interest in what you've seen in the trailers then go and see this movie. My score; 9/10 - it really is that good.

You can order it here.

Now this is rather interesting, and as yet we don't have an official announcement from either company but according to reports Sony has taken over the publishing duties on Ghostbusters and has made it a PS2 and PS3 exclusive as a result. Why would Atari hand this property to Sony? Who knows, but it would almost come down to money. As for the XBox 360, Wii and DS versions, there are rumours Atari could still be handling that version, with the game delayed until a PSP version comes out down the track. Expect more news/confirmation tomorrow.
Square-Enix has commented that they would like to see Final Fantasy XIII released in Europe within six months of the Japanese release. With the Japanese version due in late 2009 that would make the European release, at the earliest, around Christmas 2010.
PS3 Preview Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be one of Sony's biggest exclusive titles on PS3 this year, no doubt about it. It looks great and the inclusion of multiplayer for up to 10 people should ensure a must have title when it launches late this year. Here's a preview of this stunning looking title.

Well you may have noticed on the main page of the site, and we're very slowly testing some links on other pages, but we are now affliated with Play-Asia, one of the best online retailers of video games. Given the strength of the Australian dollar there are some awesome bargains to be had which we will bring you over time. I know a lot of the readers use Play-Asia, and by clicking on the links through our reviews and previews you will really be helping me with the costs of the site. Anyway let me know if you have any problems.
Blu-Ray Review The Day The Earth Stood Still is on Blu-Ray now but rather then the 1951 movie this is the 2008 remake starring Keanu Reeves. We got our hands on the Blu-Ray from Fox for review, and yet again we have a technically brilliant release, although the movie isn't exactly the greatest.
May 4, 2009
Accodig to the latest Edge Magazine Eidos Montreal will be unveiling their latest project on May 11. While yet to be fully confirmed it is believed that the title is Thief 4.
Well we missed this one the other day, but in another major boost for the PSP - which we might add is still outselling the Nintendo DS in Japan - Namco Bandai has confirmed that Tekken 6 will be released on the platform in late 2009 to coincide with the home console release.
Namco Bandai has also announced that they will be releasing Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny on the PSP in late 2009. The game will include 20 playable characters including a newcomer named Dampierre.
PS3 Review Stormrise has been out for a little while now, but we've finally finished off the review. The Creative Assembly are a great development team who have brought us the brilliant Total War franchise on PC. This RTS title has been developed with consoles in mind so expectations are high.
May 2, 2009
Here's something we didn't see coming. According to this page on GamesWarhouse Sony will be releasing their hit downloadble title Pain to retail on Blu-Ray in a couple of weeks time. With a RRP of $49.95 this is a bit dearer then the downloadable game, but as stated on the listing it will contain all the bonus content.
Blu-Ray Review Rise of the Footsoldier is certainly a movie deserving of its R18+ rating. One of the most violent criminal gangs in Britain is featured in this film which follows the 30 year journey of Carlton Leach. A solid transfer is a bonus for this riviting movie.
May 1, 2009
Rumoured for about a week now Warner Brothers and Eidos have just confirmed that Batman: Arkham Asylum has been pushed back until "the end of Summer 2009" in America and Europe - which points to a Q'4 release. The game was due out in June 2009.
PS3 Preview Guitar Hero: Metallica may, to some, be just another Guitar Hero title, but this title featuring heavy metal band Metallica isn't just for guitars, as it uses the entire band kit from Guitar Hero: World Tour. This looks awesome.
