Sony Europe has confirmed to Eurogamer that Elefunk and Echochrome will both be released on the Playstation Network in May.
Well we brought you the rumours some time ago and now retailer GamesWarehouse has essentially confirmed it. Both Buzz Quiz TV and SingStar 2 are coming out on Playstation 3 on June 5th. Sadly though Gameswarehouse lists SingStar 2 with USB microphones - so are we not getting wireless mics yet?
Capcom has confirmed they have secured the rights to MotoGP for the next 5 years across all platforms. The company, as you may recall, released MotoGP 07 on PS2 last year. A new game, MotoGP 08 is being developed on all mojor platforms - PS3 included.
PS3 Review The Club is quite a unique title with an emphasis not on killing people, but rather racking up the points! Bizarre Creations may be well known for their racing games, but The Club is every bit as exciting as this arcade shooter has brilliant online modes. Here's our full review.

Well it is 1.00am Queensland time on Saturday morning, and the Playstation Store has just updated. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is now available for download for $AU59.95 - making it the most expensive content on the Store to date. Besides that game Reel Fishing is available for $8.45, a Turok map pack is available for $4.95, and there is a free map pack for Unreal Tournament III. Throw in a couple of new trailers and a demo for Euro 2008 and it's a pretty solid, albeit late, Playstation Store Update this week.
March 28, 2008
Looking for the Playstation Store Update today - and in particular for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Apparently Sony is experiencing 'technical difficulties' with this week update delayed for a unknown amount of time. It could be an hour, it could be a day. Now we would suggest you go out and buy the game in stores on Blu-Ray, but in shopping around today we noticed the following - Target and JB Hi-Fi had stock, BIG W did not on Thursday evening, Electronics Boutique did not today, and nor did K-Mart. When I enquired at K-Mart about the game, they said late next week - convenient as they have 20% off all games at the moment. If a K-Mart near you (or even more preferably on the Gold Coast) has stock please e-mail me as I need a copy rather urgently!
Sony America has confirmed that SOCOM: Confrontation will be released in America on September 16, 2008. Hopefully European gamers won't have a lengthy wait as was the case with the PS2 and PSP games in the series.
Infinity Ward has confirmed that the Playstation 3 will see the Call of Duty 4 variety map pack released on April 24th (well, we expect in America at least). As yet the price for this 4-map pack has not been confirmed.
Today was the day... Well the day for the Attorney General's meeting which would determine if we would see a R18+ rating for games in Australia. As you would know all Attorney General's have to agree to the rating being introduced and as expected South Australia's Attorney-General Michael Atkinson was strongly opposed. Unlike many years ago when it was immediately voted down as a result, this time there is quite a strong glimmer of hope with the decision being made to seek 'public consultation'. We don't know what it means as yet, however it sounds like the AG's are keen to listen to the public rather then just vote the decision down.
March 27, 2008
Something we noticed today on that back of the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue related to the Required HDD Space. The box actually says 250KB. Now we don't know how the hell Sony got this wrong, but as we stated yesterday when you do the mandatory install, and then download the approximately 220MB download the game actually requires 6GB of space. What gives!?
PS3 Review Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was due out here late last year, but a couple of extra months development has done wonders. We know you all want this game! With almost 1 million pre-orders in Europe Sony also needed this to sell well. Is, though, this monster demo worth spending your coins on?
March 26, 2008
Looking forward to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue? Well you're not alone and today our review code finally connected to the servers which Sony have been kind enough to bring online. Sony's GT5 Prologue Servers have gone online today, but before you connect you'll have a bit of work to do. What surprised us was that there was a big-assed patch waiting to be downloaded before we could play online. That patch as 220MB in size so if you're going to play online make sure you set aside a bit of time to install the update before you play. Add that to the required 6GB install from the Blu-Ray disc and that's one hefty installation required.
March 25, 2008
Boot up your Playstation 3 today and you will be required to download the newest Firmware. That Firmware, 2.20, is available now and, as you are probably aware, updates the system to Profile 2.0 for Blu-Ray discs. Profile 2.0 provides 1GB of storage for files, and connectivity to the Internet through Blu-Ray movies (to download additional content). We haven't seen a detailed changelog as yet, but we here at Futuregamez.net have also noticed that changing the style of slideshow is now via a list that appears on the screen.
Capcom has confirmed that a patch will be released in the immediate future for Lost Planet to improve online performance. We've been playing the game a bit and have been enjoying it online, so any further improvements can only be a bonus.
Ubisoft has announced that they have concluded an agreement with Mr. Tom Clancy to acquire all intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name, on a perpetual basis and free of all related future royalty payments, for use in video games and ancillary products including related books, movies and merchandising products.
Blu-Ray Review Run Lola Run was a surprise hit movie from Germany, and has become one of the most loved of all time throughout the entire world. The movie is out now on Blu-Ray through Sony Pictures and we have the full review.

Those of you who have the brilliant title Half-Life 2: The Orange Box will be pleased to hear that a patch has been released. Weighing in at a hefty 128MB the 1.10 patch will fixes connectivity and frame rate issues in the game. Here's the changelog...

Fixed an issue where it was not possible to connect to the EA servers if you had more than 30 friends.
The Playstation Store has been updated today with the big addition being Pain for $12.95. Several additional characters are also available in the store for $1.75 each. Another item on the store today is Stranglehold Map pack for a slightly (in our opinion) expensive $23.95. Finally something that everyone needs to get - a stunning trailer for Motorstorm 2.
Got Unreal Tournament 3 on the PS3? Well you'll be pleased to know that Epic are putting the finishing touches on a patch which should be released on March 27th. Made compatible with Euro version (both are patched to the same level)

Fixed some rare crashes (shutting down, saving with low HD space, AI, etc)

Ninja Theory, the developers behind the quite superb Heavenly Sword have confirmed that their next title will not be a sequel to that game. In news that is likely to disappoint Sony the company is working on an all new IP, for the PS3 and the XBox 360. The game will be published by someone other then Sony (obviously), and there is even talk from Ninja Theory that they are exploring the options of a CG movie to tie-in to the game.
Big news for Playstation 3 owners, and those that use the system as a Blu-Ray player (Which is, hopefully, all of you). Sony Europe has announced that Firmware 2.20 will be released in the coming days (we believe next Wednesday). This adds Profile 2.0 support allowing discs to download content, as well as a host of new features (but sadly, and damn infuriatingly still no mention of DTS-HD Master Audio conversion or bistreaming!).
Interactive Movies Come to Life on PLAYSTATION®3 with System Software Update Version 2.20
Downloadable Movie Content and Interactive Games, available with BD-LIVE
PS3's Interoperability with PSP (PlayStation Portable) Enhanced
London, 20th March 2008 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that system software update v.2.20, for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™), planned for release in late March, will add Blu-ray Disc (BD) Profile 2.0 (known as BD-LIVE). With the ability to take full advantage of interactive features, such as downloadable video content, ringtones, games, and more, BD-LIVE promises to offer PS3 users the ultimate interactive film experience. In addition to BD-LIVE, the system software update will enable photo and music playlists on a PS3 to be copied to a PSP™(PlayStation®Portable), as well as other new features.
To access Blu-ray Profile 2.0, users require an Internet connection and at least 1GB of local storage. Movies with BD-LIVE are scheduled for release next month.
The following features have been demonstrated to be possible with BD-LIVE and will vary depending on the title:
· A variety of downloadable content, including bonus scenes, shorts, trailers, subtitles, ringtones that can be sent to mobile phones, images, and more.
· Interactive movie-based games can pit players who are sitting in the same room, or are across the world and online, against each other.
In addition to BD-LIVE, system software update v.2.20 enhances PS3's relationship with PSP, enabling users to copy their favourite music and photo playlists to their PSP and experience them on-the-go. This new functionality makes it easer than ever to share media content between the two systems.
The following new features will also be included in the system software update:
· "Resume play" will enable PS3 to start playing a BD and DVD video at the point it was stopped, even if the disc had been removed.*1
· "Audio Output Device" will be a new Remote Play setting, enabling PSP to serve as a remote control for music played through PS3.
· PS3's Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser's view speed will be improved.
· DivX and WMV format videos that are larger than 2GB will be playable.
· "Mosquito Noise Reduction" will be added as an AV setting in the control panel of the DVD/BD player for improved movie playback.*2
*1 BD-J format disc is not supported.
*2 BD discs recorded with BDMV format are not supported.

You've been waiting since before Christmas, but Call of Duty 4: Most Wanted gamers will be very pleased to see that when they boot up the game online today the patch will be downloaded. Weighing in a a pretty neat 10MB this patch allows games to switch hosts without disconnecting, improved kill cams, a quick mute to kill audio from those annoying enough to be playing background music, improvements to servers and many other smaller things. See you online...
A couple of days ago Prey 2 was announced although platforms weren't. Word has just come through that the game will not hit the Playstation 3 but rather only the PC and XBox 360. A shame as the first game was pretty entertaining.
If you own a PSP then you may be interested to know that Firmware 3.93 is available now. It adds around 20 Internet radio stations to the list and updates network connectivity for various titles.
Blu-Ray Review Gattaca is one of the most impressive movies of the last decade. Even more relevant today then when it was released this movie has been given a brilliant transfer and couple of extras worth your time. Here's our full review of the Sony Pictures Blu-Ray release.

A couple more bits of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue to keep you excited. If you're not among the many to have pre-ordered the retail version then we expect you're waiting for the downloadable title. If that's the case then you can expect a 1870Mb download, with more if you decide to download all the movies and extras along the way. It's a bit smaller then we expected actually.
Another rumour which is circulating of late is that the Firmware 2.17 released last week included the net code required to play Gran Turismo 5 Prologue online, or at least modified the system to improve performance. This hasn't been confirmed by Sony, but doesn't really come as a surprise.
Sony Europe has clarified that pre-orders for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue have almost reached 1 million units, and not 1 million units as previously reported. Still, the game is smashing all other titles in terms of pre-orders, and that number is only for Europe.
PSP Preview Secret Agent Clank is another critical title for the Playstation Portable. While titles are few and far between - at least in terms of quality original games at least - this looks like one of the best.

PS3 Preview The Incredible Hulk could be one of the most entertaining games on the Playstation 3. With the new movie due out mid year it comes as little suprise to hear there will be a game tie-in and this time Sega have taken up publishing duties with Edge of Reality handling development. We give you the details and screens released so far.

The war for domination between consoles is always a hot one and for the last year the XBox 360 has been outselling the PS3 in America. In January that was turned around in America with the PS3 outselling the XBox 360 by a small margin (269,000 to 230,000 units). At the time Microsoft put it down to stock shortages however February has seen the PS3 take another strong lead in America with 280,800 units sold vs 254,600. Having said that the Nintendo Wii still dominates with 274,000 units in January and 432,000 units in February.
Interesting comment from Matt Atwood, Senior Manager for BioWare recently with word that Mass Effect 2 may not be an XBox 360 exclusive. Matt stated the "I believe we'll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time". Bioware were bought by Electronic Arts a couple of months ago, and speculation has been rife that the franchise would go multi-platform. Here's hoping.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is the first title to achieve 1 million pre-orders. With the game not due out until March 27th in Europe (and April 17 in America), and the fact that it will also be a downloadable title on the Playstation Store, that is an extremely impressive figure.
In a major coup for Sony and the Playstation 3, Ubisoft have confirmed at Play.com that Haze will be a Playstation 3 exclusive, and will not be released on XBox 360 at all. The game, which has been delayed from November 2007 is now schduled for release in late May.
We all know how massive Grand Theft Auto IV will be but until now multi-player has been kept under wraps. Now the Spanish Playstation Magazine has spilled the beans. There will be 15 multi-player modes, for up to 16 people. Anyway we have the names of 14 of those modes for you here...

March 13, 2008
Well it has been a while but there is finally a new Firmware for the Playstation 3. This firmware 2.17 hadn't been announced by Sony and, at this early and quick look after loading it ourselves, doesn't appear to do anything dramatic to the system. There is still no in-game XMB so don't go looking for it, and it doesn't appear to have done anything for DTS-HD Master Audio either. According to the Playstation Blog the Firmware ensures that 'the operating stability of some online PS3 titles has been improved'. I wonder if it has anything to do with a certain Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online patch due out any day now?

2K Games has announced development of BioShock 2, the sequel to the 2 million selling hit PC and XBox 360 title. The sequel is being developed by 2K Marin and is planned for release in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. As yet platforms for the title have not been announced, but we can be hopeful the PS3 is included this time.
Gearbox Software's Borderlands has been delayed from fiscal 2008 to fiscal 2009 which runs from November 2008 to October 2009. Publisher Take Two has stated that the delay is "in order to allow additional development time for this highly anticipated game and provide a better balance in the release of Take-Two's triple-A titles".
It is now official. Sony Australia has confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be released in stores here on March 27th, and on the Playstation Store on March 28th - reversing Europe's dates.
March 11, 2008
A couple of days ago Sony announced details for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. At the time the date was set as April 17 in America with a loose March date for Europe and Australia. Now however Sony Europe has confirmed the game will be released there on March 27 as a downloadable Playstation Network game and as a Blu-Ray disc in stores on March 28. While we haven't got confirmation from Sony Australia as yet retailers already have this date listed so we're pretty certain we will follow suit.
PSP Preview God of War: Chains of Olympus has been a long time coming - especially since the Japanese version was released in early December last year. Still with an extra track to race on, an all-new Drift mode and 30 more cars then the Japanese release the wait for this game appears worthwhile. We've update our preview with the latest details.
March 10, 2008
A little birdie dropped in today. Haven't seen him for a while so it was a nice surprise. He dropped a couple of hint to me. Firstly SingStar fans may want to pencil in May 22 as Sony are apprently set to release SingStar V2 for the PS3. The birdie also managed to chirp out something about Wireless mics. Not only that but he also chirped that we should keep an eye out for Wireless Buzz controllers for that game around the middle of the year.

Blu-Ray Review Good Luck Chuck - Uncut Edition is one of Sony Pictures big releases on Blu-Ray in March. Starring Jessica Alba and Dane Cook this movie should have been great, but it falls flat. Still this adult comedy is given a decent transfer to Blu-Ray with some good extras.
March 9, 2008
Sega's Yakuza 3 has been receiving impressive review scores of late, and now the sales are equally impressive. First day sales for the title in Japan were 113,000 units which certainly puts the game down as one of the biggest on the system to date - and will hopefully put even more emphasis on a release outside Japan.
Konami has confirmed that developers Mercury Steam are working on a 'big' title for the company for release sometime in 2009 or 2010 on Playstation 3. Nothing is known about the game at this stage.
According to rumours Condemned 2 is set to be delayed from late March until sometime in April. We asked Sega for a release schedule late last week and it was promised in a day or so. It still hasn't surfaced so we're leaning towards a couple of new dates waiting to be solidified. Time will tell.
Blu-Ray Review Rush Hour 3 was certain to be a hit at the box office no matter what. The Rush Hour franchise have a massive following as Lee and Carter go through a series of wild adventures, and this Blu-Ray release of the third movie is a cracker. A brilliant transfer and super extras make this an essential purchase.

PS3 Preview Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit has millions of fans around the globe waiting with huge expectations. Those of you living in Japan are in for a treat on the Playstation Store with the demo of Echochrome now available. This 46MB download gives a brilliant taste of what could be one of the best puzzle games in years. If you happen to live outside Japan then you'll be waiting a bit longer. That is, of course, unless you are sneaky enough to break some rules and have a Japanese (or even better Hong Kong as that version is in English) account for the Store.
Looking at the Australian Playstation Store it is, yet again, a pretty lean week. The biggest addition is an add-on pack for flOw and the No Doubt track pack for Guitar Hero III.
Ready at Dawn, who have just finished God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP have confirmed that will be their only game in the series, and they will not be developing any more PSP God of War titles! Fear not though as Sony could hand development to someone else.
March 6, 2008
Sony Australia has sent out a press release for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Interestingly, and I also confirmed this seperately with them, the game is due out here in late March, which means a few weeks before the America release on April 17. The game has been expanded over the sub-40 cars in the Japanese version. We will get 71 cars, and 6 tracks instead of five. As expected the game will include 16-player online support, and also a Drift mode which wasn't in the Japanese release. The game will sell here with a RRP of $59.95. I guess the extra couple of months wait from the Japanese release has been worth it!
March 5, 2008
The Playstation Store has been off to a pretty solid start, but in early April we can expect a pretty big revamp of the site. Rumours are that the site will be set up in a similar fashion to the SingStore on SingStar. When asked about the changes SCEA responded with "Simplification, cutting down on the number of mouse clicks, making it easier to find stuff that you want to find... that's kind of an outgrowth of us having more content now, so we have to make sure that you can get at it easily". Rumours continue that downloadable movies and TV shows will launch around the same time. Expect more details soon.

According to Konami Metal Gear Solid 4 will not include multiple languages on the disc as they have filled the entire Blu-Ray disc. Those in America will only receive English, those in Japan only Japanese on the disc. No word yet on what will happen in Europe where multiple languages are typically put on a release. The game is due out in America, Europe and Japan on June 12 with a date still TBC for Australia.
Great news for PS3 owners of Half-Life 2: The Orange Box with Electronic Arts confirming a patch will be released in March to sort out some of the issues (frame rate etc). Michael did up our review for the site and didn't think the issues were as bad as many made out (except the unplayable Team Fortress 2), so keep your eyes out.
Activision have apparently released the patch for Call of Duty 4 on XBox 360 and have confirmed it is now in with Sony meaning we may see an update to the game in the next week or so barring any technical issues.
Ready for a massive Playstation Store Update? Well don't bother looking this week with the only addition being Haze trailers. Ermm, and that's it. Americans got a couple of extra bits including a Rock Band pack, but seeing as that game isn't out here - and doesn't even have a release date! - that's not even useful for us either.
