We Need Reviewers!
That's right, we need some more reviewers here at Futuregamez.net. A couple of our regulars (Chris and Graham) have full time jobs and don't have as much time to dedicate to the site. If you think you have what it takes to be a reviewer drop me an e-mail to email@example.com with your name and some background details (systems owned, experience, age etc) and I'll get back to you on the weekend with some more info/detail requests etc. Experience isn't necessary, but you will likely have to provide a sample review so I can make sure you can string some sentences together. Get to it folks.
Release Schedule Pages
We've taken a few moments today to update the PSP Movie Release Schedule Page as well as the PSP Moviel List and Reviews Page with all the latest releases.
Hitman: Blood Money is the fourth game in the Hitman series, and may very well be the last game in the series to make an appearance on the old PS2. Io Interactive have given their all to provide gamers with the best game to date with a new engine, and several gameplay enhancements. Did they succeed in making this another hit?

Playstation 3 System Specs is, as it says, a list of all the PS3's innards. Want to know how fast the CPU is? What video outputs it will have? Or what about the type of optical drive, and hard drive. It's all right here. Oh, we also do a small comparison to the XBox 360. Check this page out now.
Frontlines: Fuel of War is a game we previewed during E3 but we've just added some more details, and also some of the new (very hot) screens. The Playstation 3 continues to amaze, and THQ's recently announced action title, which is still more then a year away, looks absolutely stunning. This FPS should rock!

Well we all hate the OFLC, and increasingly so of late due to the increasing number of games beign RC'd, and now we have another one. According to this link the OFLC has awarded the PS2 game Reservoir Dogs Refused Classification which means it can not be legally sold or displayed in the country. Unfortunately the rating was announced after close of business Friday, and Atari were not available for comment. As always though there are three options. Atari could cancel the game, appeal the verdict, or ask the developers to edit the content and resubmit the game. Hopefully we'll here more from Atari in the coming days.

Koei has confirmed that Fatal Inertia will be a Playstation 3 launch title in Japan, and most likely also a launch title in America. As yet Koei hasn't confirmed the games release date in Europe, or Australia, however we also expect a pre-Christmas launch here as well.
Edge of Reality, a developer most well known for their numerous movie tie-ins has announced an new IP for next generation systems called Cipher Complex. The cinematic action game is due for release sometime in 2007.
In another rather shocking news Sony has confirmed that their upcoming Blu-Ray player in America, the BDP-S1 has been delayed yet again from August 15th, to October 25th. The system was delayed only weeks ago from June to August 15th. No reasons have been given for the delays, however it now means Sony's dedicated Blu-Ray player will launch only weeks before the Playstation 3. Samsung released the first Blu-Ray player in American this week.

Here we give you an early peek at the title with some of the latest information and screenshots.

Sega has announced the celebrity cast for its upcoming video game, Yakuza. The game is currently being localized for a western audience. To ensure a fully cinematic experience for players, the game will feature the distinctive voice work of Hollywood actors including Michael Rosenbaum, Michael Madsen, Eliza Dushku, Rachel Leigh Cook, and Mark Hamill to compliment its stunning visuals and engaging storyline. The game is due out in Australia through THQ this September.
LocoRoco is one of the most visually unique games on PSP to date with a very childish look. Fortunately Sony has determined European and Australian gamers worthy of this wonderful title. In this review we tell you all about LocoRoco's unique experience. Worth a look.

Major American Retailer last week listed Final Fantasy VII for release on the Playstation 3. The game has increasingly been under speculation for release on the PS3 following the 2005 tech demo on the system - although Square-Enix have always denied that it was anything more then a tech demo. Strangely Square-Enix no longer confirm the game isn't in development but rather that the company "has not confirmed a FF7 remake at any time" and that the Best Buy listing was an error. Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed - can anyone see a Final Fantasy VII remake to go on sale at the same time as a Blu-Ray version of FFVII: Advent Children?
Midway has confirmed that John Woo presents Stranglehold will be a Playstation 3 launch title - in America at least. No word yet on PAL territories.
Despite Core Design earlier posting on their web site that Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary has been canned Eidos and Sci have recently confirmed that the game is still in development at Crystal Dynamics - the same company that did the recent Tomb Raider: Legend.
While talking about Core Design, Rebellion has confirmed that they have purchased the struggling development team from Sci. Core Design was owned by Eidos before Eidos was purchase by Sci. As you may remember Sci and Eidos recently took development of Tomb Raider away from creators Core design following years of disappointment. Strangely though Eidos will retain the Core Design name and IP's while Rebellion gets the staff and assets (such as PC's), and will rename the team to Rebellion Derby.
Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins is a title which older gamers will instantly sit up and take notice of. If you were playing games during the 16-bit Super Nintendo days, or a bit earlier, then you would know this series. Capcom are reviving one of their greatest platformers of all time for the PSP.
June 15, 2006
Atari Australia has today confirmed that Ricky Ponting Cricket is coming to the PSP this September. Unfortunately they were unable to confirm if there would be any changes from the PS2 game or if it's a direct port. Either way it's very welcome. You can check out the review of the PS2 game here.
Atari has confirmed release dates for several more titles on PSP this year. The include Gradius Collection, Justice League Heroes, and Rengoku 2 in September. October will see the release of Bomberman and Battle Chess while Death Jnr. 2, Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Steel Horizons, and Xiaolin Showdown are confirmed for November releases. Impressive.
Atari has also confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence will be available in Australia this October.
FlatOut 2 is the latest racing game from Bugbear, and the sequel to the 2004 smash hit. The original FlatOut was one of the best racers in quite some time and this sequel promises more of everything. More tracks, more cars, better AI, and more destruction. Here's a preview with all the details before this August release.

Speaking to Eurogamer Ignition Entertainment has hinted that we may be seeing a new Mercury title on next generation platform. The interview cited the online services of the XBox 360, and the tilt controllers for Wii and Playstation 3 as possibilities. Perhaps Sony's online service and tilt mechanism will provide all options. Time will tell. The company has Mercury Meltdown due for release on PSP in September.
Electronic Arts has announced they will co-publish two titles with Namco Bandai later this year. The first is The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift on PS2 and PSP. The game is due out in the coming months. The second game is Curious George for PS2 which is based on the upcoming movie and will hit the shelves this October.
Star Wars Lego II: The Original Trilogy promises to give gamers what they really want - the fantastic gameplay based on the original trilogy. The first game was fantastic, but this sequel looks like setting new benchmarks. Certainly, one of our most wanted games this year.
Jaws Unleashed is heading to the Playstation 2 in a couple of weeks. While Jaws may not sound like a movie that could be made into an interesting game, Majesco think they have found a way - and we can't disagree. In a neat twist this game lets you play as Jaws, rather then the hunters. This looks pretty solid.
June 13, 2006
Super Dragonball Z is the latest title currently in development for Namco BanDai and Atari at Craft and Master - a new development studio. This game promises to bring a fresh spin to the franchise with an all-new arcade styled fighting system not seen to date.
June 12, 2006
Square-Enix has confirmed that they have shifted an impressive 600,000 units of their very entertaining (our words those) game Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King in Europe since its mid-April release. The game has sold in massive numbers the world over and strong sales in Europe will hopefully see the first of three massive RPG releases before the PS2's life comes to a close with Kingdom Hearts 2 and Final Fantasy XII due out in late 2006/early 2007.
According to this link on IMDB Grand Theft Auto IV's script is currently being written by James Worrall and Dan Houser - vetran writers from earlier games in the series. It's only small news but should ensure the script is as solid as in previous games. The game is due out on October 19, 2007 for the Playstation 3.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow may have one of the longest names in some time (well, since Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King but it's a game which lovers of the movies (and there's a lot of you) will likely want to check out. This game recalls many of the events mentioned by Jack in the movie. Did he really sack Nassau Port without firing a shot or ride away from a deserted isle on the back of sea turtles? Now you’ll find out.

Well Despite being announced for next generation consoles Activision's Call of Duty 3 is currently listed for release on the Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable on Electronic Boutique's web site. Both versions are due out on November 1st - so pencil that date in if you can't afford a Playstation 3.
Without a doubt one of the best games on the PSP to date is Ubisoft's Lumines. While in K-Mart at Australia Fair the other day I noticed that they were clearing them out for a jaw dropping $AU15 each!! Let me say this once and for all: if you don't have Lumines then get BUY IT RIGHT NOW!
Sony has announced that their Blu-Ray player the BDP-S1 has been delayed from late June until "On or About August 15, 2006". Why is this so important? Well the player will be the first from Sony using their new Blu-Ray format. While it's still three months before the launch of the Playstation 3 gamers will be watching nervously as any further delays could indicate delays to their gaming system as well. Importantly however the Blu-Ray PC drives, and movies, will start to hit the shelves later this month.
Arthur and the Minimoys is a game which should be a hit this Christmas. Based on the upcoming movie from genius Luc Besson this CG movie and game is starting to turn heads, and deservedly so. This game already looks fantastic.
June 10, 2006
Capcom has announced that Capcom Puzzle World will be released in Europe (and therefor Australia) on PSP this September.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories stormed the PSP charts late last year and now PS2 owners can also get their hands on this GTA title. It's not enhanced much for the Playstation 2, but is being release at a budget price - and was pretty damn fantastic to start with. Here's a preview of the PS2 version due out in a couple of weeks.
June 8, 2006
Electronic Arts has confirmed their first Playstation 3 launch title - for America at least. That game is NBA Live 07. The company also mentioned they plan to have 'several' sports titles available for launch and while not confirmed we'd put a chunk of money on Madden NFL 07 as well.
Urban Chaos: Riot Response is a game that has flown under the radar. In fact the Rocksteady Studios title hasn't really received much press at all which is a a shame as there's plenty to like about the game. From it's brutal gameplay, to superb use of the Havoc 3 physics engine - this game has it all. Here's our review.

SingStar Rocks! Do you like karaoke? Do you like rock music? If so then this is an essential purchase. Even non-rock fans, but fans of Sony's karaoke series, should like this game which adds another 30 songs to the series. A review.

June 2, 2006
Super Monkey Ball Adventure is a welcome sequel which deserves plenty of attention. Those who played the first Super Monkey Ball game on PS2 will know just how brilliant the gameplay was - despite the somewhat average graphics. Sega are now adding adventure into the mix...
