Just a quick note to let you know that I have updated the Preview and Release Schedule today with many additions, and changes. If you want to find out when a game is coming out here this is the only place to be. Check it out now.
Dammit. I just completed a preview for Ribbit King and Atari advise me the game won't be released in Australia. I'm sure some people will grab it from the UK, and American's are lucky enough to have it available through Amazon as well.
Vivendi have confirmed that their next Crash Bandicoot game has been renamed to Crash Twinsanity to remain consistent between all territories around the world. The game was going to be titled Crash Unlimited outside America.
Dragon Ball Z 3 is still very much under wraps at Atari but fans of Dragon Ball Z should look forward to this game. Those of you loving the Olympics may want to remember to check out the review of Athens 2004. A great title which will keep the memories going - except the womens 8's rowing.
XII Stag isn't a game that many would have heard of. The game is due out in a matter of weeks here, but was released in Japan in early 2003. This is classic Taito shoot 'em up and with a budget release price here of only $29.95 is one well worth trying to hunt down. You'll probably have to do that to as this game will be pretty limited in release.

Siren 2 is a game which is highly anticipated with gamers in Japan. The original title sold quite well and was a surprise hit for Sony. Well now The Magic-box has the details for the sequel. Here's what they had to say:
SIREN 2 (Forbidden Siren 2), the game will have at least two main characters. The story takes place in an abandoned island, where all human disappeared in a mysterious way 29 years ago. You can find a lot of ruins, collapsed buildings and ship wrecks in the island. The Optical Illusion System will be enhanced in the game, you can see through from both human and animal eyes as well; and you can receive helps from companions in battles to rescue partners.
Ribbit King is quite an unusual title based around Frolf. No that's not a typo - that's how you spell it. But what is Frolf I hear you ask? Actually its the latest sport to hit the Playstation 2 - albeit not real. Grab a mallet and a frog and play golf. It's qwerky, but looks fun. Check out the preview with latest screens right now.
Well another rant/commentary where I get to spout off about stuff non-game related. For the past couple of weeks I have been watching and very much enjoying the Olympics (and playing Athens 2004 at the same time). Sensational stuff, not only for the Australian performances, but the overall event which seems to be running fairly well - bar the empty seats. But something has really destroyed the atmosphere for me - the way in which the Australian womens 8's rowing team, and in particular Julia Wilson, have ripped into Sally Robbins for virtually collapsing during the race. Someone allegedly threatened that she would be thrown out of the boat if she didn't row.
This is the worst sportsmanship I have ever seen. This girl has put in her all for her team and country and obvioulsy struggled in the tough conditions. Well screw those teammates that had a go at her I say. At least she pushed herself to her absolute limits, and that's all one can ask. She is the hero of the team. Look at Grant Hackett, he could hardly stand after the 1500m - he pushed him self all the way - and that's the way it should be. This is meant to be a team sport and those that had a go at Sally Robbins deserve to be immediatly expelled from the games. Selfish bitches - we don't need you. OK, that's all for now - Dave.

Electronic Arts have confirmed first week sales of 1.35 million units for Madden NFL 2005 in America. This breaks previous records for the series. Believe it or not but many online retailers, knowing that there will be a Madden NFL 2006 are already taking pre-orders! The Australian version is due out on 13th September.
Goldeneye Rogue Agent isn't quite what you might think. In fact, the use of the Goldeneye in the title is a blatent marketing rip-off. It has nothing in common with the previous game on Nintendo 64, nor the movie. However this game still shows potential - a lot of potential. Check out the preview and screens now.
European readers will be glad to hear that Sony Europe has officially dropped the price of Playstation 2 to €149 (Euros) and £104.99 in the United Kingdom. At this stage it seems unlikely that the Australian or American price will be changing.

In a recent Atari press conference Executive Vice President Wim Stocks has mentioned that Atari still have a couple more stories to tell in the Matrix universe, essentially confirming more titles will be available in the coming years. Now we can only hope they play better then the mediocre Enter the Matrix.
Sony has signed Evolution Studios to create content exclusively for their systems. Evolution is the company behind the impressivw World Rally Championship titles on Playstation 2. The fourth game in that series is due out late this year.
FlatOut. Remember this game. Sometimes a game comes along that you know will be cool. The developers of FlatOut weren't happy with destructable cars - almost the entire tracks are destructable too! Check out this preview and prepare for one destructive release in late September.

According to the OFLC Eidos' Shellshock Nam 67 was given a MA rating in Australia on August 13th, 2004. This was awarded on a revised version of the game following a Refused Classification awarded to it several weeks ago. Atari has been unwilling to comment on the reasons for the Refused Classification however stron drug use and sexual references/scenes have been reported from overseas press. The official rating for the game is now: MA (Medium Level Animated Violence, Adult Themes, Sexual References, Drug References). The game is scheduled for release in late September.
Codemasters have announced that Colin McRae Rally 05 will not be released on PS2 in America, nor the PC. In fact the game will be an XBox exclusive in that territory. No reason has been given for the exclusivity, although Microsoft's pocket book may have something to do with it. The only problem is that this is likely to alienate fans of the series on other formats. The PAL version is due out in September.
Electronic Arts have signed up some big talent for Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. The music will be composed by none other then Paul Oakenfold who has worked on movies such as Swordfish, Planet of the Apes, The Bourne Identity, Austin Powers: Goldmember, and The Matrix Reloaded. Christopher Lee will reprise his role as the villainous Francisco Scaramanga from The Man with the Golden Gun and Judi Dench will return as M.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is almost ready to be unleashed on the gaming world and looks set to make the greatest golf game even better. NBA Ballers is Midway's latest basketball title after a string of recent misfires, but this time it isn't just about the sport - and the game looks pretty awesome too. This one-on-one game also highlights the "bling-bling" lifestyle of NBA superstars. Although this game is due out here in less then a months time here's a preview with some screenshots.

Konami has confirmed they will be releasing two versions of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The first will be the bare bones game for 6,980 yen (approx $AU88) while the other will be a Deluxe Edition which will included several bonuses to be announced. That pack will sell for 12,800 yen (approx $AU162). The game is slated to hit Japan in October, rumoured to hit America in November, but sadly not expected in PAL territories until 2005 - although this has not been confirmed by Konami yet.
Sony Europe has confirmed that The Getaway: Black Monday will not be released in America until January 2005. The European version is still scheduled for release in November 2004.
Burnout 3 isn't just a game. Its one of a handful of games that looks set to become the biggest of the year, and particularly if Sony's Gran Turismo misses the boat as rumoured. This game is fast, frantic and monsterous. Forget about the past stunning games - they were chicken feed. This is the whole chicken. (OK Dave, you're showing how much you've had to drink today already!)
August 12, 2004
Metal Slug 4 has been confirmed for a release in Japan on September 22nd for 7329 yen. Hopefully the game will be released in late 2004, or early 2005 in PAL territories, but that is not yet confirmed.
Rumours are going pretty wild that Sony are working on a sequel to Forbidden Siren which was a surprise hit in Japan, and has sold fairly well outside that territory. Sony are denying the rumour however next months Famitsu magazine is rumoured to have the breaking news.

Vietcong: Purple Haze is due to hit Playstation 2 in one month from today. Why then are first screens and info only now being release. It certainly isn't a lack of potential. This game is being ported from the excellent PC version. The Vietnam based games are stacking up pretty quickly on PS2 now - but this looks like a winner. First screens and info inside.
As you may have noticed there have been a couple of minor changes to the site. In the coming weeks you will see an option starting to appear on Preview and Review pages to Pre-order or order games through dstore.com.au. As you can imagine running a web site like this off my own back costs a bit of money so by clicking on the links and purchasing through Future Gamez you will help me keep the site growing bigger and better. From time to time special offers may be available as well. I am also looking at the possibility of including amazon.co.uk for PAL gamers in Europe as dstore only caters to Australian customers, indeed you can already pre-order the Star Wars Trilogy DVD through the Amazon link on the main page. One thing is certian, the links will remain minimal and won't start clogging up the site.
All right so I am going to start you all off with one of the most impressive DVD's ever released - and a must have for anyone interested in upcoming games for the next couple of years. Dstore have Future Of Video Games 2004 - E3 Access avilable for only $28.45 (excluding shipping). This 4 DVD set has over 11 hours of footage, trailers and interviews from the E3 show and is HIGHLY recommended for those of you looking for all the latest game news and movies. Hell, it even has Dolby Digital 5.1 sound! Click on the link to order your copy now and support Future Gamez.

Sony Japan has apparently confirmed the long held rumour that Playstation 3 will include Blu Ray support. Blu Ray is the new DVD format holding almost 25GB of data, about five times that of a single layer DVD - which almost all PS2 games are today. This will be a major boost for Sony's new format as, much like the PS2 did for DVD, it will get the format into millions of homes early in its life - a crucial factor in the war against HD-DVD which uses current red laser technology. XBox 2 is rumoured to use that format...
Somewhat unexpectedly Sony's Athens 2004 has smashed its way straight to Number One on the Australian game sales charts. We can expect it to remain there for a couple more weeks at least while the Olympics are on in Greece.
Onimusha 3 is a game that fans of the series need to buy, without question. If you haven't played the previous games, however, don't worry too much as this game stands up in its own right and is well worth picking up. In fact I would say this is possibly the best action game of the year to date. The inclusion of Jean Reno, while concerning when first announced, is wonderful and adds much more "coolness" to the series. Check out the review now.

Well here's a twist to the story ran on July 31st regarding the murder of a boy in the UK. It has now been revealed that Manhunt was not a part of the 17 year old murderers obsessions, but that a copy of the game was in the victim's bedroom instead. I wonder if Dixon's will start selling the game again now that it has been acquitted... Let's see if The Daily Mail retracts its article blaming the game for the violent murder. I bet they don't.
Midway has finalised their lineup for Midway Arcade Treasure's 2. Strangely the company has removed Mortal Kombat, STUN Runner and Steel Talons. These have been replaced with Kozmik Kroozr’ and its prequel, Wacko. Still, there are some awesome titles on this list including A.P.B., Arch Rivals, Championship Sprint, Cyberball 2072, Gauntlet 2, Hard Drivin’, Kozmik Kroozr’, Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat II, NARC, Pit Fighter, Primal Rage, Rampage World Tour, Spy Hunter 2, Timber , Total Carnage, Wizard of Wor, Xenophobe, Xybots and Wacko. Expect a PAL release late this year.

Capcom has confirmed that The Nightmare Before Christmas will not actually be out before Christmas, but has been pushed back until Q'1 2005 with some American retailers listing the title for February. This game has been shaping up quite nicely and made a decent splash at the E3 show in May.
Sphinx has been out for quite a while now, and for one reason or another we forgot about it - shows how foolish we were. Eurocom have developed this platform title, and THQ released it with little fanfare which is a bit of a shame. Chris has reviewed, and certainly loved, this game. Check out the review now.
August 2, 2004
Eidos has confirmed that Champion Manager 5 is heading to PS2 with development in progress at Gusto Games. The game should be released around Q'2 2005.
