PS3 Preview
Playstation Move is likley to be the biggest change to the Playstation 3 since it launched, certainly in terms of new gameplay styles. As a much more accurate version of the Nintendo Wii controller, we take a look at the controller, the game and the options at retail for the launch.

PS3 News
Well according to reports doing the rounds Gran Turismo 5 will need an install of at least 250MB, but to get the best experience from the game rumours are that you'll need an install of 10GB! By the best we assume that means the fastest loading times which isn't a bad thing - but you better have plenty of HDD space!
Head on over to the Australian Classification site and on this page you will see a listing for Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition which has been rated MA15+ with the consumer advice of "Strong Violence".
Rumour Mill
Well a little birdy has visited today, it's been a while since we saw him on our back patio. Anyway a little news. He chirped something about a certain racing game that won't be released on the same day as the rest of the world (November 3). No, we here in Australia will be waiting - but only until November 4! Phew...
Blu-Ray Review
Infestation isn't what you would call a triple-A title, however this B-grade movie is actually quite entertaining when you get into it. Icon Films have done a very decent job of transferring this movie to Blu-Ray too and we suggest you check it out.

Blu-Ray Competition
Better get in quick as our Blu-Ray competition giving away 5 copies of The Descent: Part 2 closes midnight tomorrow (Monday) night. It's a decent movie with a decent transfer and you can enter the competition to win your copy right here (or on the link at the top of this page).
PS3 News
It appears that Sony Japan will unveil a new game in a couple of days. The page (available here) is called amimono and shows a mafia looking man knitting. We know. Strange. I guess it's possible, but we're not putting any money on a knitting game for the Playstation Move.

PS3 News
According to Sony's website inFamous 2 will support the Playstation Move. As yet Sony hasn't detailed what features the Move controller will support, however it's clear that Sony see the device as so much more then just a Party game controller.
Do you live in Denmark? Well if you do you may be disappointed to hear that Electronic Arts has canned the release of MMA in that country due to laws over energy drink advertising with brandings appearing in arenas and on fighters shorts. The game will be out in other countries around the world in a couple of months.
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has won an injunction banning the sale of those PS3 USB hacks allowing you to install games onto the Hard Drive. The injunction runs until August 31st (that's Tuesday), by which time Sony Oz need to have convinced the courts the device is primarily for piracy. If they can't they'll be back on sale September 1st.
PSP News
Well this will piss off PSPgo owners. Probably the biggest game this year, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, will not be available as a downloadable title, but only on USB. Sony really need to resolve this as while the PSPgo sales have sucked hairy balls since launch, there are still thousands of gamers that will now miss out (or perhaps "upgrade" to a proper PSP!).

Enslaved: Odyssey To The West is the latest game from Ninja Theory, the developers of Heavenly Sword. This all-new action adventure game is shaping up very well indeed and has plenty of potential. With an October release set here's a preview.

PS3 News
Rumours doing the rounds today are that ex-Midway and no WB Games sandbox game This is Vegas has been scrapped with development ceasing on the project. The game was rumoured to have already cost around $43 million, but apparently WB Games weren't prepared to pour more funds, and another 12 months, into the game to finish it.
Want to know why the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV was delayed 6 months from the PC version due this September. Apparently it comes down to working with the PS3's memory limits. Producer Hiromichi Tanaka stated that "The main reason was the memory. On the PC, they have enormous memory. For PS3, there's a restriction. They are adjusting the memory size and customising it; it took longer than we were expecting, but we're really working hard to bring it out as soon as possible." Hopefully the game will make it's March release date.

PS3 News
Ummm, OK.. what the?!? Deathspank was a pretty entertaining game released only a month ago and we recommend it, but guess what, wait until September 21st (in America at least) and you will be able to download the sequel called DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue which will apparently be 50% longer then the original and see . No word on the European date yet, but it won't be far off.
Remember that PS3 hack that allows you to "back up" your games to Hard Drive an play them off there. Well it is now being reported that Sony can track people using the device, and as a result may ban them from using the PSN to connect online. Don't say we didn't warn you.
Industry News
Well the Microsoft Kinect camera control device is due out in November but one of it's biggest features, that being voice control, won't actually be available when the system launches. That's another feature binned from the device, at least for the short term. (Update: Apparently voice control will be available for English speakers, but not in other languages).
PS3 Review
3D Dot Game Heroes pays homage back to the 8-bit RPG era with graphics to match. It looks and sound 1980's and plays a little better. Michael has done up his review and presents it here for your reading pleasure.
Personal News
Well my new PC is ordered and I should have it in a week or two.. The old system is still chugging along, but it's crashing and some keys don't register sometimes. Still it will be nice to move forward a few generations of computer!

PS3 Review
Lego Harry Potter is a game which I know a lot of you have been keen to get our impressions on. The Lego based video games are tremendous fun, and this latest title looks at the first four years at Hogwarts. It's a brilliant release for fans of either the Lego or Harry Potter franchises.

Blu-Ray Competition
Don't forget that during August we are giving away 5 copies of The Descent: Part 2 on Blu-Ray. It's a decent movie with a decent transfer and you can enter the competition to win your copy right here (or on the link at the top of this page).
PS3 News
As some of you may have seen around the web in the last day or two a company (Who we won't name) has released a hack solution for the PS3 which allows you to copy a game to the Hard Drive and run it. If course this circumvents the PS3's security measures, and at the moment it only works with Firmware 3.21. For $AU170 it's an expensive prospect and we have to point out a few things. Firstly there is no guarantees it will work if you ever upgrade your firmware in future. Secondly it's possible that Sony will ban your PSN account in much the way Microsoft bans hacked consoles from Live. Finally do you know what has happened to the PC games industry? Yep it's dead on piracy, so let's not do the same to Sony.
Sega has confirmed that a demo for Vanquish will be released on the Playstation Store September 2nd.
Personal News
Well I'll be ordering a new PC tomorrow with the following specs - Core i7 860 @ 2.8Ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB SATA HDD, 1GB nVidia GT330 video card, 16x DVD Burner (will throw in a Blu-Ray drive later), Firewire, 19-1 card reader and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. That should get me going for a few more years (it has a 5 year NBD warranty too) at least and I hope to have the system in the next week or two. Fortunately I've resurrected my old PC - for now, so hopefully it will last for a while longer until the new machine arrives.

Personal/Site News
Well you may have to excuse a lack of updates over the next couple of days. I just upgraded my internet plan and got a new modem, installed it and Boom! There goes my computer to the ends of time. Indeed it's time to put the good old Athalon 2600 to rest I think and I'm going to pick up a new Core i5 or i7 in the next couple of days. I'll try to keep updating, but even right now the machine has crashed again (I hope this posts before it dies totally).

PS3 News
Well it's Gamescom on in Germany today and there have been a few announcements which we will summarise below. Enjoy...
- In probably the biggest surprise of the show Mass Effect 2, the critical and commercial hit RPG from Bioware, has been confirmed for release on the PS3 in January 2011. Just to clarify, the original game will not be released though as Microsoft own the rights to that specific game.
- Insomniac Games have confirmed Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, a 4-player online platform game, will be released in Q'3 2011. No word on split-screen yet but we have fingers crossed.
- Resistance 3 has been officially announced with a FMV trailer. No details have been announced about the game at all except that it's due out in 2011.
- An upgrade for PlayTV (which press had been mentioned as PlayTV 2) has been announced which will include the ability to send messages to friends while watching shows. Strangely, or perhaps disappointingly, Sony Australia have said the update will be available through the Playstation Store.
- Australian PS3 owners will notice a new TV service called PLUS7 which will allow you to catch up on TV shows screened on the 7 network. This will become available in late August.
- Sega has confirmed that Virtua Tennis 4 will be releaed on the PS3 next year. Not only will the game include support for Playstation Move which should be very cool, but will also include stereoscopic 3D support.
- Sony has confirmed that they will be releasing 160GB and 320GB PS3 units starting in mid September. These new larger capacity systems will slowly replace the older systems.
- Finally, Sony Europe has confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 will be released in that territory on November 3rd, a day after America. We expect Australia to also see the same release date.
One final bit of news closer to home. The Australian Classification Board has rated Call of Duty: Black Ops today awarding it a M rating with the advice "Violence, gaming experience may change online". This is a bit surprising as unless Activision have toned down the violence the game has achieved a lower rating then Modern Warfare 2 which was rated MA15+.
Blu-Ray Review
Solitary Man is the latest movie from Michael Douglas. We've all seen movies where people make it to the top of the business world, but what happens when everything starts to fall apart. This is a pretty decent movie and we've reviewed the Blu-Ray disc.

PS3 News
In what seems to be the trend of the last week or two we have now received reports that FEAR 3's release date has been pushed from late 2010 to 2011.
David Cage has confirmed that Heavy Rain has sold an impressive 1.5 million units, with the game far exceeding both his, and Sony's expectations. Given that the game will receive Playstation Move support in the coming months, and we're entering Christmas sales, David Cage, Sony and we here at Futuregamez would expect the games sales to surpass 2 million units. Impressive stuff...
PS3 Preview
F1 2010 is a big release for racing enthusiasts. We love our racing games and it has been a few years since the last Formula One game on consoles. What's changed? Well the series is now developed by Codemasters, who have developed Grid and Dirt in recent years, and we have high hopes for this release.

Blu-Ray Review
Extract is a somewhat dark comedy from the director of Office Space. Indeed this is a fairly entertaining movie with a strong cast, and impressive preformances. Here's a Blu-Ray review.
