    Personal News
It has been a fantastic couple of days for myself and my wife - it was the Supanova Pop Culture Expo on the Gold Coast and we met three Star Trek legends - Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig and George Takei were all present and we got a photo with the three of them and listened to their wonderful presentations. Also exciting was meeting Dolph Lundgren (Ivan Drago from Rocky IV and Gunner from The Expendables trilogy) and see his seminar while it was also an honor to meet Christopher Lloyd (yes, Doc from Back to the Future). A couple of close friends are into Cosplay - they were fantastic as Batman, Nightwing, Robin! What a great weekend despite the massive crowds.

Activision have today announced Guitar Hero Live for release this Spring. As the press release states "Developed by FreeStyleGames, the studio behind the critically-acclaimed DJ Hero and DJ Hero 2, Guitar Hero Live introduces two powerful ways to play, including GH Live, a first-person point of view where you are up on stage as the star of the show. A quantum leap forward in immersion and realism, GH Live is a live-action experience that delivers the full emotional roller coaster of being on stage and performing in a real band, in front of real crowds, who dynamically react in real-time to how well or poorly you play. As the lead guitarist, you play an array of songs that span the changing musical landscape, in a variety of venues, from the smallest club stage in front of a hundred people, to the massive main stage of an outdoor festival in front of a hundred thousand people." Check out the live action announcement trailer below with some gameplay from the 2.35 minute mark.

One disappointment about Guitar Hero Live is that the game won't be compatible with controller from previous games in the series. So no need to dust them off, but there will be a need to spend more money on peripherals yet again. Sigh... The good news - Rock Band is also coming back but that game will allow you to use old controllers.

It's a big day for fighting fans with Warner Brothers Games releasing Mortal Kombat X on PS4, XBox One and PC. One of the most exciting aspects of the game is the ability to play as the classic Predator in the game - although you will need to purchase the Kombat Pack which is DLC. It also includes horror icon from the Friday the 13th films, Jason Voorhees, two Klassic Mortal Kombat Kombatants, Tanya and Tremor. The game looks fantastic so fighting fans should check it out.

Slightly Mad Studios have confirmed that Project Cars will run at 60fps at full 1080p resolution on Playstation 4. XBox One retains that frame rate but drops to 900p resolution while PC gamers, with super decked out rigs will be able to run in resolutions up to 12k!

Sony have today launched Firmware 2.50 and rather then paraphrase the main features, here's the official press release...

PLAYSTATION®4 (PS4™) TO ADD ANTICIPATED FEATURES AND SOCIAL ENHANCEMENTS
System Software Update v2.50 to Enable Suspend/Resume, Facebook Friend Search, Remote Play and Share Play Enhancements and Much More

SYDNEY – March 26, 2015 – Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.) has today announced that system software update version 2.50, codenamed "Yukimura," for the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) system, bringing highly-anticipated and requested features to the system, will be released today, March 26. These forward-looking updates include the Suspend/Resume feature, which enables gamers to jump in and out of their games quickly and pick up where they left off. In addition, the PS4 system will add to its already robust set of social tools by making it easier than ever to connect gamers together, furthering its position as the best place to play with friends.

Highlights coming to PS4 with "Yukimura" include:
Jump Back Into Games Faster with Suspend/Resume*
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will allow PS4 owners to spend less time waiting for games to load and more time playing. Gamers will be able to suspend their game by putting their PS4 into Rest Mode, and then quickly resume the game where they left off by pressing the PlayStation button on the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller, which wakes their system.

Back-Up and Restore Hard Disc Drive to External USB Drive
"Yukimura" allows PS4 owners to back-up and restore the hard disc to and from an external USB drive. Hard disc drive data includes settings, saved data, screenshots and video clips as well as games, patches and download data.

      Find and Connect with Friends
PS4 owners will now be able to search for Facebook Friends with their linked account. Friend requests and Real Name requests can be sent together in one step when adding a friend on PS4. The update will allow users to easily view what their friends are playing by adding a "Friends Who Play This" section on each game detail page, while also highlighting which friends are currently online and playing it. The process to create a Party has also been streamlined with a reduction in the number of steps required. Additionally, the What’s New section will now feature a section where users can see what their friends are currently playing enabling them to join in the game if they own it or find out more on PlayStation®Store.

Share Your Earned Trophies and Trophy List Enhancements
PS4 owners have been sharing their most impressive gaming moments since the launch of the system, and with "Yukimura," a screenshot will automatically be captured when a Trophy is earned, making it easy for users to share their favorite gaming moments with their friends. The update will also make it easy for players to share Trophy information to Facebook, Twitter or via Message by pressing the SHARE button. Additionally, users will now be able to sort their Trophy list by "Earned Date," "Not Earned," and "Grade," as well as the option to remove games from the Trophy list that have zero percent completion.

      Improved and Expanded Accessibility Options
"Yukimura" introduces new options to customize the user experience with PS4, making it easier for gamers with impaired vision and limited manual dexterity to play. Customized button assignments for DUALSHOCK 4 and a zoom feature for displayed pictures and inverted colors will be available for all system functions, apps and games. Enlarged text will be available across the graphical user interface, including Message and Party, and enlarged text will also be enabled for use in the system’s browser. Bolder fonts and higher contrast UI will be available for all system applications but will not apply to games or third-party applications.

Additional features and updates introduced with "Yukimura" include:
      · Remote Play and Share Play: For games that support 60 fps, users will be able to automatically enjoy those games with 60fps for both Remote Play and Share Play on supported devices.
      · Automatic Installation for System Software Updates: Users will be able to automatically install future system software updates.
      · Sub-Account Upgrade: Users 18 years of age or older with sub-accounts will be able to upgrade to a master account directly on PS4, removing restrictions on chat and enabling users add funds to their Wallet, purchase content and more.
      · Verified Accounts: Verified accounts for game industry professionals, including developers, producers, designers and community managers will appear with a badge.
      · Dailymotion.com: Players will have the ability to upload video clips directly to Dailymotion via the SHARE button.

The PlayStation®Vita system and PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets will also receive system software updates with the same timing as "Yukimura," adding complementary features to those added to PS4 with the update. PS Vita update version 3.50 and PlayStation App update version 2.50 will add new accessibility options, including enlarge text, increase contrast and more. Industry/Konami News
Gamespot have put up an interesting piece today (available here), which states from an unnamed source that a "power struggle" occurred between Konami and Kojima which has resulted in staff at Kojima produtions having access to Konami's internet, e-mail and even phone calls while Hideo Kojima himself will be scaled back from Metal Gear Solid V promotions while many staff at Kojima Productions have been moved from "permanent" employees to contractors. Konami have also started to remove Kojima Productions from promotional materials including websites. Konami, and Hideo Kojima, have confirmed that they are both working together to complete development of Metal Gear Solid V: A Phantom Pain which is due out worldwide on September 1, 2015.

So it seems that Hideo Kojima and Konami will be officially parting ways. According to this Announcement of Executive Appointments Hideo Kojima is nowhere to be seen which is in contrast to a July 3 2014 (available here) in which Hideo Kojima was appointed as "Executive Content Officer (Director of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS)".

In another interesting move Konami have announced that the Metal Gear Solid franchise will continue after the release of Metal Gear Solid V. The company is putting together key members of a new development team.

    Industry/Konami News
Some interesting (or should that be stunning) developments today with Konami removing branding for "A Hideo Kojima Game" from the Metal Gear Solid V website. Konami has in recent times moved away from branding titles under studio names such as Kojima Productions, but it appears as if there is more to the story as this move isn't one that would have been taken lightly given Kojima's standing in the games industry.

Square-Enix president Yosuke Matsuda has suggested there will be a "surprise" JRPG released in 2015. Now, we already know that Final Fantasy VII is coming - albeit a port of the somewhat average PC port from a few years ago - but perhaps there's a full remake? Or more likely something else... PLAYSTATION 4 USHERS IN THE FUTURE OF PLAY AS SOFTWARE UPDATE VERSION 2.50, "YUKIMURA," GETS READY TO LAUNCH

The first major update of 2015 will become available soon, and will see the arrival of a range of new features and improvements, including the arrival of the much anticipated Suspend & Resume functionality, allowing players to suspend and resume games near-instantly at the touch of the power button.

Other key features include 60fps streaming for both Remote and Share Play and improved trophy integration. In addition, "Yukimura" will also see the arrival of Facebook friend finder features and the ability to share PS4 footage directly to Dailymotion.

This feature allows Players to seamlessly suspend their PS4 during gameplay and resume playing from exactly where they left off*1 at the touch of a button, putting PS4 into standby mode without interrupting long sessions of play.

Another standout feature of the update is the ability for Players to stream both Share Play and Remote Play at 60 frames-per-second*2. This jump in streaming quality offers Players with high-speed Internet connections a loss-less experience when playing through a secondary device, maintaining the lightning-quick performance that Players have come to expect from PS4.

Making all aspects of gaming a more social experience, "Yukimura" improves trophy integration by automatically capturing a screenshot at the moment each is earned, making it easier than ever for Players to share their greatest gaming moments on PS4 with friends. This process has also been streamlined with the ability for trophies to be shared via a press of the Share button on DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller.

Another major addition for "Yukimura" is the ability for subaccounts to be promoted to master accounts via PS4 for those Players who are over the age of 18, giving full control to the account holder whilst retaining their existing PlayStation®Network profile, complete with trophies and entitlements. Players who turn 18 will be prompted via the PS4 UI to provide the updated information required to graduate to a master account.

Ensuring PS4 is the most socially connected console experience; "Yukimura" also introduces the ability to import your Facebook friends directly onto your PS4 friends list, giving players greater opportunity to find each other and play together. When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DUALSHOCK®4, "Yukimura" also allows Players to upload directly to Dailymotion, providing more choice of services and options to share their PS4 game play moments.

Ubisoft have today announced that Airmech Arena, currently in development at Carbon Games, will be released on PS4 this year. As the press release states:

In AirMech Arena, players control powerful transforming weapons known as AirMechs to protect their bases and overtake enemy fortresses. Gamers will collect up to nine available AirMech’s, each with its own unique abilities, and command them to deploy defense units from the air or to transform into ground mode and defeat armies on the front line. As they gain experience, they will earn kudos (in-game currency) to unlock upgrades, new units and pilots to expand their collection, and customise their appearance with exclusive skins and effects.

AirMech Arena allows players to complete quests and earn rewards in solo games, or partner with up to four friends for cooperative play online. Competitors can test their skills in ranked matches, or spar for practice in unranked mode. Teamwork is vital to succeed in multiplayer as allies must simultaneously manage resources and protect their bases while attempting to capture their opponent’s territory and defend against the opposition. The game also supports a spectator mode, which gives gamers the opportunity to view each other’s matches and see the top competitive players in action.

Slightly Mad Studios have confirmed that Project Cars has been delayed yet again, this time from April 2nd to mid-May. The developers have stated that some last minute bugs and fine tuning is the cause, but to make up for the delay some DLC will be provided free tog gamers.

Naughty Dog has announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been delayed from the expected 2015 release date to (Northern) Spring 2016. Here's the announcement from the Playstation Blog:\

      Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End coming Spring 2016
A note from directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann

Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.

After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly – this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for.

So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.

Thank you for your patience – we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.
