Release Schedules:
PS4  PS3

Last year was a massive E3 event due to the new consoles being announced, or at least properly unveiled, however this years show will be all about the games. Now that the PS4 and XBox One have been out for six months it's time for the companies to deliver the goods and we expect some pretty big stuff. For Sony fans, which most of you probably are, Tuesday morning Australian time will see the Sony Conference, and we'll be liveblogging all the action. Stay tuned...

Sony Australia has confirmed that the Playstation TV device will launch here for $AU149.95 - that's a bit of a premium on the $US99 price, but not too bad.

Strangely absent from Sony's E3 Presentation was Driveclub, but also missing was the very impressive racer from Slightly Mad Studios called Project CARS. The game is due in November and looks pretty special. Check out the trailer...

One game which was shown at the Sony Press Conference, but which we didn't get the video for yesterday was Suda 51 and his studio Grasshopper Manufacture's gorefest Let It Die. Goodness knows if this is going to make it past Australian censors! Enjoy...

Electronic Arts have released the trailers for their games so we'll get started with the Battlefield Hardline Multiplayer Trailer...

We love Ice Hockey - it makes a great video game and EA has released a trailer for NHL 15 which will be hitting the PS4 and XBox One for the first time. Looking gorgeous.

Probably EA's biggest sports game is based on soccer and FIFA 15 has been given a gameplay trailer at E3. It's looking pretty nice...

Golf fans aren't being left behind either with a trailer for EA Sports PGA Tour. Yes, it's golf, but wait, WTF, there's a battleship crashing into the course? Haven't EA already destroyed one franchise with Battle in the title?

Planetside 2 is one of Sony's upcoming Free To Play games on the Playsation 4 and it promises to deliver the goods for shooter fans. No date yet, but we have a new trailer to check out.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a fantastic looking game, and the developers have released a new trailer for the game which looks, well, spectacular and is due next February...

Finally after Microsoft, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft present their goods it's Sony's turn. We'll be blogging all the events as they happen and be posting the videos as they become available. It should be quite interesting so get ready for the 11am kickoff.

Electronic Arts had next to no big announcements, primarily as Battlefield Hardline news was leaked in recent weeks - the big news is that the Beta for that game is out from today on PS4 and PC.

So Microsoft kicked off the press conferences today (with EA, Ubisoft, Sony to follow today and Nintendo tomorrow). Here's the key announcements from Microsoft...

  • XBox owners will, as per the last several years, get the DLC first for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
  • Turn 10 Studios announced Nurburgring is coming to Forza 5 and available from today for free.
  • Playground Games talking Forza Horizon 2 which uses Forza 5's engine and will run at 1080p with a release of September 30.
  • 2K demo of Evolve with confirmation that the beta will be exclusive to XBox One with the console also getting DLC first.
  • Ubisoft showed off Assassin's Creed Unity which has 4-player online co-op and is set in Paris. It's out on October 7.

  • Harmonix has a Dance Central digital-only game due out in September.
  • Lionhead showed off Fable Legends with the multiplayer Beta starting this autumn.
  • Halo The Master Chief Collection with games 1-4 will be released on XBox One in November. It contains over 100 multiplayer maps and runs at 1080p60. Purchasers also get access to the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta in December. Halo 5 was teased for a couple of seconds too.
  • A new game from Playdead called Inside was announced.
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider is announced and coming out in Holiday 2015. That's right, Christmas next year not this year.
  • The Witcher 3 was demoed on stage, no exclusive content of course as developers are against that idea. The game is out February 24 next year as previously announced.
  • Phantom Dust is being remastered for the XBox One.
  • The Division, with new content on XBox One first, is shown on XBox One with a 2015 release.
  • Platinum Games have an XBox One exclusive title called Scalebound.
  • New Crackdown title announced. And that's it. Some impressive stuff from Microsoft but still leaves the door ajar for Sony to dominate yet again.

Well it's Sunday in America, so the news is pretty light, however some eager beaver at Konami did press the wrong button and up the trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain before it was promptly pulled. We'll post it when it goes live again. Other then that, Sony have denied the report, and IGN have apologised for posting news that The Last Guardian has been cancelled - it hasn't, so perhaps we may see something on the stage tomorrow.

The E3 Show - or at least the conferences - start in a matter of hours and as usual we'll be covering all the news as it gets released. On 11am Tuesday we'll be liveblogging the Sony Press Conference to bring you all the details - it promises to be a cracker so make sure you tune in.

My E3 Predictions
So every year I make some predictions about what we'll see at E3.

  • 1. No price cut for the PS4, however new bundles with games may be announced (it has actually already leaked through retailers of a PS4/PSVita bundle).
  • 2. New Firmware for the PS4 will be confirmed - with enhancements including improved Blu-Ray and media playback, additional services for streaming media, customisable backgrounds, and putting games into hybernation.
  • 3. Planetside 2 gets a decent showing with a release date announced in the very near future.
  • 4. Expect a pretty big showing from Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain with exclusive content for Sony's console - release date is 2015.
  • 5. Gran Turismo 6 gets a PS4 release with a 2015 release date (which means expect it in 2016 or later!)
  • 6. The Last Guardian will finally be shown at E3 - but Sony will release on PS3 and PS4! (we said this last year, but yar, we're holding onto this thought).
  • 7. Indie games are another major focus for Sony with many more games shown then on other titles.
  • 8. PS3 gets almost no coverage beyond a sizzle reel showing some upcoming games, PSVita will also struggle to get a lot of attention, although we may see a surprise - Monster Hunter Frontier anyone?
  • 9. Naughty Dog shows first footage from Uncharted on PS4 with a 2015 release date attached.
  • 10. New Quantic Dream title is unveiled and named, but no date give.
  • 11. Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 will be shown on the PS4 on-stage with exclusive content confirmed for Sony systems.
  • 12. Project Morpheus will be shown on the stage and demos on the floor, but there's still no release date or price meaning 2015 release is likley.
  • 13. Sony's big new game shown will be a new God of War from SCEA Santa Monica for PS4.
  • 14. With the Wii U struggling Nintendo unveil a modified console with new Gamepad and possibly a price drop. Games remain thin on the ground for the system.
  • 15. Microsoft will impress with a large number of new titles and exclusivity deals with third parties for games and additional content.
  • 16. Yet again though we expect Sony will have the best show, although it won't be the clear win like 2013.
