I am desperate to gte NBA2k2 for PS2 and I can't wait any longer... If I import a pal version from the UK will it work on my PS2??????

I don't think that NBA2K2 is out in the UK either and at this stage Sony Australia have no plans/ideas when or if it will come out here at all (or in Europe).

What about Dreamcast? Would it work on a Aussie Pal Dreamcast coz Dreamcast games are still being released in the UK..... (lucky them)

Yes, NBA 2K2 from the UK would work on an Australian machine as we have the same format ( plus, it's out on the Dreamcast over there )... lt's that simple!
