One of the best racing/action games in recent years was Acivision's Vigilante 8. Activision decided that original game did so well that it deserved a sequel with Luxoflux once again developing the title. Vigilante 8: Second Offense is the sequel, and it's shaping up as one of the best action games on Dreamcast so far. Although the graphics may look a little on the average side, the gameplay is simply superb.

Believe it or not Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense has an story to it as well. Your task is to stop the Coyote terrorist gang from destroying the peace in America. You have a choice of 15 different cars to assist in the destruction of the gang. Of course a V8 car is nothing without good old weapons to destroy the opposition and there are plenty to choose from. The cars can also be upgraded as you finish the missions set.

The game consists of 10 interactive battle arena's. One great aspect of these arena's is that almost everything is destructable. Trees, fences, signs and even buildings can be knocked over or destroyed. Of course the explosions to accompany the destruction are amazing.

Luxoflux have even managed to include a 4 player split screen mode into the game. (Come on Sega it's games like this that would be great online) This 4 player action allows you to battle or team up with your friends to cause even more mayhem and destruction.

Vigilante 8: Second Offense will be a great game on the Dreamcast. It offers something very different to the standard racing game on the system, and is sure to get the adrenaline pumping in those who like action in their games. After all who doesn't?
